We enjoyed the bread topped with garlic the most. Added some dipping oil to it and ate way too much. Cocktails were also great. My mom's cocktail was $22. I forgot what she drank but remember her surprise that her drink was about the same price as her meal. Her vegetable primavera was good. My lasagna was ok. Very large portion. There is a restaurant in Memphis that has a fresher tasting sauce similar to being in Italy. So it wasn't bad, the sauce is just not as fresh as my other favs. Also, the celebration dessert comes out with sparklers so the night ended with a flash! It was a great experience. Def would not go again without a reservation. But glad to check it off my list of places to go.

Food: 3/5 Overall, pretty decent, not sure about it being…read morequite worth the price though. Came right at prime dinner time. We got the arancini and Brussels to start. Arancini were excellent, I personally felt a little more pomodoro would be nice, but is not necessary since the arancini have good flavor and seem to be super popular by the sheer amount of them coming out of the kitchen. The pesto balanced the arancini well. The Brussels are good, a little under seasoned (I did not taste hot honey nor the yuzu aioli on any of the pieces I tried) but cooked well and the pecorino is lovely shaved. My meal, agnolotti piedmontese, was excellent. The beef inside was so tender, pasta cooked well, and the butter and cheese, finished with a potato crumb, was absolutely stunning. My husband had the pollo trevisano. The chicken was ok, was pretty bland, the only seasoning being salt, which came from the prosciutto, and the butter herb sauce, which seemed to lack any real depth. The mash was excellent. Also came with some broccolini on the side which was cooked perfectly. My grandmother got the octopus appetizer for her meal. The octopus leg was chewy/overcooked. On the flip side, the potatoes with bacon were delicious. The arugula was well flavored. Overall was the most disappointing part of the meal, barely ate the octopus that she was so excited for. My grandfather got an excellent rigatoni dish that I cannot recall the name of, and their website is currently not up to date with what their in house menu is so I do not know the name. I did not try it myself but It has veal, and either kale/cabbage leaves or some interestingly large spinach, as well as a delicious sauce. The veal was amazing, he raved about it endlessly and shared that dish with my grandmother. To end our meals, my grandparents split an Affogato, and I got a coconut and banana panna cotta. My husband was full from dinner and did not indulge on dessert. Service: 5/5 Between our server and the other staff keeping our drinks full, table bussed and reset, and the timely service, it was an excellent occasion. Our server did an awesome job checking on refills of wine. Ambiance: 5/5 Absolutely adorable corner location right on Erie and Howard. They have awesome seating, tables, and lighting. The tvs play old sitcoms. There are umbrellas hanging from the ceiling, that may seem silly at first, but seem to divert the AC/heating from blowing directly on their customers, which is a lovely touch. I've never seen any other restaurant do something like that to keep their customers comfortable, I applaud it. Overall, a great experience with decent food. If we decide to venture back, we will have to try the pizza, get some more arancini, and try some other dishes.

The hostess then continued to tell us there was no room for us. Questionable. Lastly, she emphasized that the prices were too high and we should visit another restaurant up the road where the prices were less extravagant. That's where I have a problem as she insinuated that we - an African American Male, Dominican Male and Mexican Woman - working professionals - could not afford to eat here. We knew what was on the menu, that's why we came. If it weren't for this experience I would have just left and let it go, but the lack of tact and respect merits a bad review. Management needs to read this and address the hostess. Thank you.

It is a small restaurant in a unassuming building but the wait staff and chef were on point! We started with an arugula salad, which was probably the best salad I have ever had, and the fried ossa buco ravioli which was excellent too. I would probably choose a direct dough than a wonton wrapped but the flavor was awesome. My wife had the cod/shrimp/mussel dish which had the most flavorful sauce (made me jealous of her dish). I had the seafood pasta. I would highly HIGHLY recommend this restaurant and will definitely be back. This is on the favorite restaurant list now!

I've been coming to this spot since around 2006, and it used to be one of my absolute favorites…read more It's still fairly good, but over time I've noticed a shift in the overall experience as longtime staff has aged out and newer, younger staff has come in. They recently renovated the interior, and I do really like the update--using lighter colors has brightened the space and made it feel more modern. Unfortunately, a recent experience seriously impacted my opinion. I called to place a takeout order for about five people from my workplace, and the young man who answered the phone--Adrian--was extremely rude. He seemed impatient from the start, and by the time I was giving the third order, he began huffing and puffing, talking over me, and rushing me. Before I could even finish, he hung up on me. His coworkers were saying his name in the background, which is how I learned who he was. Adrian's behavior showed a complete lack of basic customer service and professionalism, and it did not represent Maine Street well at all. If answering phones and taking orders is part of the job, then patience and respect should be a given. Adrian needs serious improvement in customer service, because that interaction alone was enough to make me reconsider ordering again. On a lighter note, this place has long been part of the fabric of Hamtramck, and that's why this experience was so disappointing. Hamtramck has always taken pride in its local spots, community, and hospitality, and I hope Maine Street gets back to reflecting the warmth and care that made so many of us loyal customers for years.

Pro: The portion sizes are large. Service is quick and the staff is very pleasant. Cons: All the chicken entrees were extremely dry, they tasted like premade and refried options making them a uncomfortably thick with a hard crust and dry interior. The sausages seemed frozen for a while or had been sitting in a hot bath for the entire day, they were extremely dry which is unusual given how fatty and juicy most Italian sausages are. Pasta was overcooked, well passed Al Dente. Overall, this was not very traditional in flavor, the sauces are heavy and bland. This place is comparable to franchised options like Olive Garden, but without the delicious salad and bread. As a caveat, this was from a single weekday dinner experience. Your experience may vary.
