This is your go-to spot for tattoos!! Stitch and Conor were amazing in collaborating with us to create our perfect design. They were both very friendly and made the process of everything fun and easy. Their workspace is very clean and they are both very tedious when it comes to their artwork. Both artists are very supportive as well. 10/10 recommended both of them!! Will definitely be coming back.

We stopped by on a whim to get my first tattoo! Conor was very friendly and very quick... his line work is basically perfection, I was very happy with how it came out. He was also very informative and helpful about where to place and what areas are more/less sensitive (: will be coming back if we visit the Honolulu area again!

Conor did a great job on my first tattoo ever
Conor B.

My wife and I had always talked about getting our first tattoos after we got married. We figured that getting it on our honeymoon was the perfect time! I stumbled upon Rock Star on Yelp, and was happy to see that they got great reviews. But most importantly (to me) was that the owner shared the same name as me. Very rarely do I come across another Conor who spells it with one N. It was a sign! My wife and I were lucky enough to have Conor do our tattoos and it was a fantastic experience. He was very professional and kept it a very relaxed environment which we both appreciated as we were a bit nervous about the whole thing. My tattoo took about 2 hours, but it flew by and honestly didn't hurt anywhere near as much as I was expecting. In the end, I'm so happy we stopped at Rock Star. I just wish we didn't live back on the mainland as I would definitely go back for any touch ups or additions.

Conor is an excellent tattoo artist. He has done many of my tattoos and I find he has a steady hand that makes it virtually painless. I like to refer to Conor as my tattoo therapist when I am inspired for new ink. He understands the importance of each piece of art he tattoos so it makes the ritual of being under the needle even more special. He is dependable and professional and my number 1 shop. I am already putting money in my piggy bang for my next visit.

This is my lion tattoo. Very minimal and clean.

This place is located behind the apartment area. when I went inside, it was very clean and tidy. Connor was the one who helped me out with everything. He also helped me with placement of the tattoo since it was my first time. The cost was also affordable. I got a lion tattoo and a number tattoo which cost $90 in all. Overall it was a great tattoo experience and I can't wait to get more.

My cover up, by Lazarus.
Sarah Jane B.

Lazarus did my cover up! From intro, he made me feel at ease and prepped for the session in a timely manner. I showed him what I liked and said I wanted something Hawaiian themed, as I am leaving the island in a week. (Lived here for almost 4 years). I had a great laugh with him throughout, and he showed true passion through his art work. He aimed to get that tattoo which covered up hideous stars right, and by golly, he did! Thanks Laz!!!

Visiting from California, me and my wife wanted some work done. Lazarus went above and beyond to help me and my wife get the design and the work done that we wanted. Prices were reasonable and the shop is super clean. The rest of the staff completed the awesome experience with their friendliness and professional attitudes. Totally recommend this shop for anyone that wants a great memory that will last forever from paradise!

Small, cute, and dainty! Thanks Conor.

My boyfriend and I saw the reviews on this place and decided to go in and have a consultation for a tattoo that he had in mind. We spoke to Conor and were really pleased and felt very comfortable. He told us that H would be best for what my boyfriend had in mind, so he booked an appointment. The day we came in, H had a sketched ready for us to see. He made a few adjustments after we went over it. Since we are dealing with a cover up and either a half or whole sleeve. H took his time was very patient, and understanding. So far his sleeve is looking super cool, and I can't wait to see it all done. In the meantime my boyfriend had been telling me that I should get one as well. And so to make the long story short... I did! Conor did an AMAZING JOB!!!! I asked for an elephant I had seen on Pinterest and had him tweak it a bit, and add a little heart. It was SMALL, CUTE, and DAINTY!!! Just what I wanted. Overall they were great. We loved the atmosphere and vibes we got from all of them. Thanks again guys

Me and my boyfriend were looking for a tattoo shop for our last day here at Hawaii to complete our bucket list and we found this awesome tattoo shop! It's super clean and Connor is very professional and accommodating. I'm definitely coming back again next year!

Lazarus did an amazing job for the both of us! Couldn't be any happier.

I know this is kind of a long review, but if you're planning to get a tattoo in Hawaii, this will be worth the read. There is a reason why this tattoo shop has all 5 stars! This is the perfect typical tattoo shop located in downtown Waikiki. Our first impression walking down to the alley between 2 bars was not a good one. But, I learned real quick not to judge a book by its cover. My wife and I were on our honeymoon and we had the intention on getting tattoos that were the same idea, not matching. When we first came in we were greeted by a tattoo artist by the name Lazarus. After talking to Lazarus for a few minutes, he seemed to know what he was talking about. We showed him our ideas and he measured our calves. After a little bit more talking he gave us a quote and we were satisfied. The shop minimum is $80, so if you want something small you might want to go somewhere else. After about 30 minutes in the shop, we put down a deposit and we walked back to our hotel. We started looking at reviews of the shop, and they were all great about the shop. But, there was nothing on Lazarus except one vague, "Lazarus did a great job!" Quote. We looked up some more reviews on Facebook of the shop and a little more research. There was very little information on Lazarus. But, we already paid the deposit and we were scheduled for 2 o'clock the next day. We came to terms in just trusting that Lazarus knows what he is doing. The next day we showed up at 1:30 and Lazarus was just finishing up the drawings. After about 15 minutes, he came downstairs to show us his drawings.....boom....perfect. Both of them. Exactly what we both wanted! Not a single thing changed. He finally brought us upstairs and I was first on the table. I forgot to mention, this was my very first tattoo. I got myself a little worked up at first, but once it started it was no problem. Lazarus, the wife and I were all laughing and having a good time the entire time. About an hour and a 1/2 went by and I was done. I was finally able to see it, and I loved every last line of it. What an amazing job. The wife's took a little bit longer because of coloring and a little more shading. But, Lazarus kept us entertained the whole time. After it was all said and done, we tipped well him and parted ways. My first tattoo looked awesome, the wife's tattoo looked awesome and I couldn't have been more pleased. Lazarus, if you read this, thanks again! You did an excellent job, and these Alaskans will be back again!

Elaina D.

I went to this place to get a commemorative tattoo of my Hawaiian vacation and Laz did NOT disappoint. Not gonna lie, the location is shady AF, but the yelp reviews were good so I went in anyway. They were very accommodating of what I wanted and the wait was non existent. I showed Laz a pic of what I wanted and he was able to make it my own. I also lost my nose stud in the Hawaiian ocean and the piercer (didn't catch his name sadly) hooked me up with a new ring and install for $10. Tattoo came out to $100 and I love it. DEF recommend this place.

She had an appointment with Britt who was awesome. Britt walked my daughter through what to expect, she answered her questions and was really patient with her as my daughter went back and forth about wanting to get it done. My daughter ended up feeling comfortable enough to decide to go for it and the experience was great. Super fast and low pain. While I know there are cheaper places to get your kids ears pierced, it was worth it to me to have the knowledge and comfort that came with booking with HPC and Britt, in particular. Would suggest them to anyone looking to get a piercing. PS- the shopping experience was also super great. The person working the retail area showed my daughter lots of options and talked through pros and cons of different styles of earrings as her first set. My daughter and I were both happy with what she selected. Also really appreciated the education given regarding after care and how my daughter can take care of her piercings.

My favorite piercing studio ever! The owner, Tony, did my first ever piercing 11ish years ago…read more(yay!) and many more after that. Shoutout to Brit for installing so many sparklies in my face and ears and piercing me as well. Everyone I've interacted with has been pleasant, patient, and very informative. I've always felt safe in their piercer's hands (and gloves)! As for the studio itself, it's a really pretty space to be in. The shop is super clean and features a nice mural from a local artist. The jewelry are all in very shiny display cases. The jewelry selection is also sooo awesome. It's all body safe/implant grade materials (think gold and titanium). Coolest studio I've ever been in. I know I'll be back to get some more pretty pieces soon!

You have got to be kidding me, but I always wanted to go to Lisa the only reason why I call other places in the first place is because they open it on the little bit later side and I wanted to get it done as soon as possible but long story short EVERYWHERE else has crazy inflation prices... Lisa is seriously the only person that I remember it being the same amount from 10 years ago that is so crazy honestly I feel like she should make everything at least $10 more That's how good her services, she ain't even answered all my questions that I have about why my industrial fill out before and all that this is literally my first good review normally I only review places when it's like extremely bad not just a little bad I can handle that but if it's like the worst place I've ever been to then I have to write something to one others but Lisa is my first good review and I'm very thankful that she took me in as a walk-in and had me out within 10 minutes maybe even 5 minutes at the most thanks again Lisa :) PS she even exited the tipping screen and said to not worry about tipping her but of course I want to~she already has her prices ridiculously cheap.. I have literally never seen anyone say no need to tip (especially in the service industry) If you need any piercings done please go to Lisa she's the best and honestly I'll never go to anyone else ^^

It was super odd, i've never had a piercer ever be so unfriendly. a few months later i went to my usual piercing place to get new jewelry and kinda talked about the Ink Pit to her. she knew who i was talking about because i guess Lisa "botches" her clients and has a reputation of it in the piercing world. my flat jewelry from the Ink Pit was so long but i thought it was okay, and my usual piercer said she was surprised it healed because it was too long to safely heal. i usually don't have trouble with my piercings, but this was so painful and hard to heal. as soon as i got a shorter piece, it stopped hurting and looks great now. their starting jewelry is terrible. this place is cheap and quick and im sure Lisa was just having a bad day when i was in there, but there are much better places to go. and remember, there's a reason why it's so cheap.

"I'm wearing short sleeves, I don't want to expose my tattoos."…read more-Jerry Seinfeld Well now I DO wanna wear short sleeves to let my new honu peek out a bit! Been wanting to get a honu ink'd to remind me of where I came from... where home really is. Everytime I go back, I run out of time or just didn't want to give up the beach day. This time the whole fam was IN... when I explained my design concept, both my wife and daughter wanted their own version, still honu themed. da Scene: Determined to get this done done during the 16 day visit back home on Oahu, I did my research early and narrowed it down to 3 spots initially. After some dm's, email exchanges and finally some voice calls, it was Lai @ Tattoo Hawaii who I connected with most, so we scheduled an in-person consult and then our sessions, with 2 days left on our trip - only lost 1 beach day (it was a perfect one too). da Service: Every contact before our session was courteous and replied to promptly. I did have to be insistent on Lai doing our work, even if it meant spanning multiple days. His work on social media and Yelp! most connected with me. At our consult he explained how he would approach my design concept and adapt it to my wife and daughter. Lai was confident he could get us all done in one afternoon/evening session. The shop is tucked away on the 2nd floor of a little building on the corner of Kapiolani and Piikoi... parking is a challenge, so arrive early to wait out a spot. The shop is comfortable and can accommodate 3-4 artists working, with friends looking on in support. da Work: Kai was up 1st as hers would be the least complicated. She went with 3 petroglyph style honu, each about 3.5" diameter, ink'd fairly heavy - vertically on her upper arm, pretty classic design. She has several tattoos already and was surprised that Lai didn't work with a stencil... he simply free-handed the design with several pens, directly on your body. He's a very cool, confident cat, laid back and within minutes has you chatting it up like you went to high school together. I went next as my wife wanted to see how mine's worked out to help solidify her concept. Lai drew a honu/dragon/shark tooth design on my upper arm and I said "go for it". 2.5 hours later I was stunned at the fine details he added to the shark's teeth encircling the honu shell, as well as tribal accents in the honu, while incorporating the dragon profile. It really was satisfying to see my concept executed closely, while adding style and depth, bringing it to life. Carla was last up and really wanted to stick close to what I had done... just smaller and wanted the dragon to "pop" more. As you can see, Lai nailed it... however subtle, the dragon does appear more prominent on her piece. da Wrap: Really happy all-around, already thinking about how to add to it, maybe add color, grow it further down my arm, how to add to the story. It's a very personal thing and I really suggest you take your time to research and find the right artist. I'm confident that you'll find the right one at Tattoo Hawaii. We were there most of the day and saw several folks and artists' work, there was actually one guy there the whole time getting a large whole body piece worked on with a manual tattoo tool, that's an investment! HUGE shout out to Lai for making our sessions so enjoyable and comfortable... When he found out it was my and my wife's 1st work, he said he was honored to be 1st... such a humble guy, great disposition. We'll see you soon brother!

Many things have changed since my 2018 visit so the information in this review can stay relevant…read more I visited last week for a fairly large piece and Lai took care of it like he did with my two other ones. When you arrive remember to fill out the paperwork provided. This could probably be streamlined if it were made available online. Regardless, you can reach out to the shop via social media or even the shop's webpage too. We took multiple breaks on my last visit. What started out as a request for a pueo turned into a session to catch up since pre-pandemic and get back in the chair. Lai free handed the entire piece. I wanted a poly style piece with Lai's style and that's what I got. Very much appreciated for attention to detail. Reach out to the shop via social media and if you want specifics like cost and time, you better be specific about your request too. (i.e. size, color, design, etc). There are so many shops on Oahu and Tattoo Hawaii was the only one that gave me an accurate cost and time frame, not to mention some awesome conversation. Highly recommended and thoroughly enjoyed!

Five stars, and I mean it, even with a slightly unusual healing journey thrown in…read more My rook piercing fell out after ten years, which sent me scrambling, and I ended up here on the recommendation that they really know their stuff. That reputation is completely earned. The piercers are genuinely knowledgeable and handled the whole situation with a lot of care and responsibility. Getting the piercing back in took a bit of work, which was no fault of theirs at all given the circumstances, but I will say my ear throbbed on and off for a solid two months afterward. A decade old piercing apparently has thoughts and feelings about being reinserted, who knew. Despite that odd post piercing experience, I would come back without hesitation. When you find people who actually understand what they are doing and approach it with real professionalism, that matters a lot. This is that kind of place.

I didn't have the needle to put the piercing back in and since it was still relatively new, I knew the chances of it closing were high, especially since the same thing of my hair yanking the piercing out in the shower had just happened to me the month prior. It was half-closed in less than twelve hours! I had originally wanted to stop off at another spot but their piercer wasn't in. What? So I opened Yelp and found this place a short distance away. I came here and saw Krista and it was amazing. She got me cleaned and my piercing placed back in fast for the low price of $10 (plus tax). She's amazing. All of their jewelry was stored in plastic containers where the employees were just digging through, without gloves (SO unsanitary), to find the jewelry that the customers wanted. I wanted titanium flat backs because I'm allergic to sterling silver and I don't heal well if it is pierced with steel. The girl who pierced me looked through all the containers before finding 3 gold colored titanium flat backs with silver colored titanium ball toppers. The piercing process started out okay, she cleaned off the area, although not very thoroughly, and marked where she was going to pierce and let me see before she started the process. I don't think they sterilized the jewelry before they pierced me either, even though different, ungloved, employees were digging around in the jewelry boxes just before. She opened a new needle and started on my lobes, these were pretty smooth. The biggest issue came when she started on my mid helix. Told me take a deep breath and she pushed the needle through, then went to guide the jewelry in, but could only get it HALFWAY. I heard her whisper "oh shoot" under her breath before proceeding to try multiple times to push the jewelry all the way through. She asked the other guy, Jay, for help and they both stood there pushing my ear around for a solid 3 minutes before the jewelry was fully through. It was a while before the piercing was done, I could feel the blood on my ear slipping around while he essentially tried to repierce it with the jewelry. Neither of them used a clamp, or even a tube to catch the needle as it went through to the other side, just used their hands which I could feel were slipping off my ear. To top it all off, my mom told me after that they used the same needle for all three of my piercings, super unsanitary! I've gotten thick cartilage piercings done before this (rook, nostril, helix) and I have NEVER had an experience like this. I will not be coming back here, not even for my jewelry changes. The only good thing I would say about this experience was that the lady at the front was polite and friendly, and the girl who pierced me was also nice, I just wish the process of the actual piercing was a bit cleaner and smoother. I hope nobody else has an experience like this, and I hope my piercings don't get infected.
