There have more variations than you can shake a stick at (and probably the sticks to shake if I cared to have one). It comes in various formulations and viscosities. I've been going to this hobby store since the 1980s when I was just a kid, going there with my late father. It was one of those places that helped build a lifelong love for RC cars and the hobby itself. Now, decades later, I genuinely enjoy taking my own children there and sharing that same experience with them. It's something really special to me and my family. That's why this situation has been so hard. I dropped off an RC truck for repair and expected it might take some time. What I didn't expect was how long it actually took -- months and months passed while I waited. Eventually, when I called to check on it, I was told the truck had already been surrendered after 90 days. That news was absolutely heartbreaking. This wasn't just a piece of equipment to me. It was something I had invested a lot into and something tied to years of enjoyment in this hobby. I understand that businesses have policies, and I don't doubt they have rules in place, but learning about it only after the fact made the loss feel even worse. What makes this especially difficult is that I truly love this store. It's been part of my life story from childhood to now as a parent. I honestly can't imagine not going there anymore, and that's what makes this situation so emotionally complicated for me. I'm not posting this to attack anyone. I'm just really torn and hurt by how this played out, and I wish there had been more communication before it reached that point.

I'm not a model train guy, but am equally astounded by their selection and all of the supplies and accessories they stock for that hobby. Their selection of new kits is very deep and very well organized. The vintage kit selection is varied and reasonably priced. And bargains can be found in the back room if you know what you're doing. Staff is uniformly friendly; I am always greeted when I arrive. If I have a question or need help, it's always fast and efficient. if I just want to wander around and window shop, they don't seem to have a problem with that. This place is a real gem. A throwback to a time when shops like this dotted the twin cities. I haven't seen a shop like this since I used to shop at the old Moeller hobby shop in Robbinsdale. On the rare occasion I need something they don't stock, I will buy online. For everything else, there's no other shop anywhere who gets my business. This place is an absolute treasure.

(Real hobby rc can get into thousands of dollars) because I wasn't going to spend a lot of money on his first car. So I ordered and paid for the car. It ships in a reasonable time frame. And even though it's mostly toy grade, it's a very good, fun entry level car. The problem is, they sent me a returned car. All the package zip ties were cut and the car just bounced around in the open box. It also had one bent and one broken wheel. As if they opened it to swap parts for someone else and just put it back on the shelf. Even that wasn't that big of a deal. The big problem, I had emailed them several times to give them a chance to make it right and there was NO response. I was willing to just get two wheels and maybe a discount on another car. Yes, I was going to buy another one. But nope, nothing at all! Even after I threatened to reverse the charge. Crickets.. So all in all, if your buying cheap rc, they got nothing for you. Lesson learned. The money I spent fixing the toy rc, could have paid retail locally for a better car.

It's possibly the best location geographically within the Twin Cities. The owners have recently expanded the game space to include the old dry cleaners behind the store ... more tables for the miniatures gamers ... yay! The staff are very helpful. There's a plethora of new games inventory, including dice, paints, and other do-dads that any gamer needs or wants. There's an amazing selection of snacks, drinks, and ice cream at a reasonable price. The Cafe Menu is also very good and priced well. Sadly, I will be leaving this part of my life behind, moving out of state. I will miss the friends and acquaintances I've made, and people I meet whenever I'm here. Lastly, this place has become a home away from home every Saturday I'm in the store. Thanks Mike, Craig, and BGC Staffers.

Christmas items were all 40% off. The prices on the other items in the store were all various types of sales. Some sales prices were great deals while others (especially Christmas projects) were still not even a deal at all yet. There are no employees available anywhere except at the front check out. There were two check out lanes open and three self checkout computers. One employee had to stand near the self checkout to call people over to use them. The employees, including the one who was currently ringing someone up, would be yelling out to the line ... "If you are paying by credit or debit, there are self checkout registers open." Because I wasn't using self- checkout, the woman finished my order without ever talking to me except when she yelled across, "I can help the next person." There was no further talking. My items were simply tossed in a bag. Somehow 2 of the 4 spools of thread that I wanted to purchase got lost before I bought them. The store was hot, busy, chaotic, with a meandering line instead of one that followed the path they prefer because there were not enough associates. I did find all the items I needed. However, all categories of merchandise were spread apart because there would be some in the aisle and some in the end caps. It was a frustrating and still productive trip. But know your prices before you go!
