Came for a smog check, smog didn't pass. Usually, pass or it is free. Not at this place BEWARE. I had to pay $62.00 The man told me to fix the sensor and bring back the car he would only charge the $8 fee for the DMV. So I bring the car back a week later, only to be charged another $40 along with the $8 fee. Apparently,he forgot to mention he would also charge me a $40 retest fee. BS! Lesson learned, never coming back. Shame because I have 5 vehicles and would have loved a reliable smog check nearby. Oh well, maybe next time I'll have batter luck at a different location. read more

I brought my van about 4 years ago for smog since registration required it. I showed up it got hooked up and after some time the man that works there comes and tells me "I can pass it for $450" confused I asked does it not pass? He states "it does pass, there's nothing wrong with emissions but I have to do something extra and if you take it somewhere else they won't want to deal with it." Confused as to why I'm being charged so much if it's passes I kindly rejected the offer and went elsewhere. I ended up going to Economy Test Only(Star Station) on Glenoaks. They hooked it up and after while came back and asked if the van had been sitting for a while. I said yes and Jose I believe his name is said for me to go and drive it for a while on the streets and freeway. He stated that the computer didn't have anything to read so he couldn't pass it but I just had to drive around for a bit and it was a simple fix. Went back the next day to Economy Test Only and the van passed no problem. Before I told Jose what happened at the other smog station he advised me to be careful cause some stations might try to charge me hundreds for an issue like that. I have never returned to "A Quick Smog Test" since, everyone looking to try this place out just be careful. read more

Went to this place as it was closer to home, just needed a quick smog check, but the guy who helped me wanted to take my catalytic converter as the first thing he told me was that it was completely shot. I knew my catalytic converter was fine but he spent the next 40 minutes trying to figure out if I even needed a smog check. Of Course I need a smog check, why else would I be there! Make sure to bring a guy friend with you or they'll waste your time and money!! Never going back there again. read more

Super unprofessional place...my mom took my car to get a smog check, he told her it didn't passs, refused to take card payment, which was fine....but then kept raising his go voice saying "where's my tip!?" multiple times. After all that, he said he was joking and that the car did pass. Seriously? I'm usually not picky about places and have never written a bad review, but I felt I inclined to after this. I called on Saturday, September 3, 2011 and the owner said it would be about 10 to 15 minutes. Unfortunately, I couldn't make it that day. I decided to go to Quick Smog on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 after work. I got here around 4:10pm and there was one car ahead of me. The owner said it's about 10 a minute wait for the car ahead of me and about 10 to 15 minutes for my car. I highly recommend this place for a quick smog. The owner provides soda drinks (which I declined and water). I told him I found his business on Yelp and he gave me an additional $5.00 discount. I paid in cash but credit cards are accepted. The owner is very friendly and knowledgeable. The owner gave me advice for a person who needs a smog check. One is to use the highest octane before getting a smog check. Fill your tank with 91 octane so the emission is smoother and the particles are cleaner. Secondly, do not change your battery the same day getting a smog check. The computer system won't be able to diagnosis the car. This happen to a person who went into his shop that day. I got a copy of the smog check results and it was sent to DMV Sacramento by computer within minutes. I saved about $25.00 going here instead of the smog station on Parthenia St and Reseda Blvd called Simply Smog. That place quoted me about $80 with DMV paperwork. The only bad thing about this place is that it is hard to find in Arleta. It's next to a Domino's Pizza and east of the Arleta DMV. If you want a smog check done with a quickness and you want an Angelina Jolie type technician, request for Melissa Smith (she had a white wife beater shirt on with earrings and tattoos all over). Melissa does her job really well and had that Transformers part 1 thing going for her when she was servicing my car. Overall, the whole process was really quick. About 20 minutes all together. I was still able to make it to AAA in Northridge by 4:55pm and get my car renewal sticker (5:00pm close). read more

I just bought a new-to-me car from a private party and went to the Arleta DMV to transfer the title. Turns out I needed a smog check and the lady at the DMV told me that if I did it today I could just return directly to her window to finish my transaction. I was going to drive out to No Ho to the smog place i have used in the past but I noticed A QUICK SMOG TEST CENTER as I drove by. It looked clean and not busy and it is less then a mile from DMV so I decided to get a quote. $49.75 for smog test. $8.25 for the certificate. Same price as my other place. The dude helping me was EXTREMELY friendly and professional. it took about 15 minutes. He brought my father and me a cold soda pop while we waited. Over all I was super happy with the whole experience. I would recommend for anyone who needs a smog check to go there. read more

Just Pass My Smog Test!!! This place is great. I had read the reviews on Yelp & decided to check this place out. The guy was very friendly & nice. I had four cars in front of me around 10:30 am so I did had to wait but I can see why people come. This place is great! I was very worried that my car was not gonna pass because of a light that had turn on...it turns out that my tires needed air...after my test they guy added air to my tires & the light turn off. I would have thought, in a "lower rent" area, getting a smog test would be reasonable. Not so. This place charged $49.75 for my initial test, though their price card said $30, and I have a normal car. When it didn't pass because my check engine light came on, I was told I had 15 days to get the car repaired and return for a re-test. That's a shorter window than I'm used to, but I managed to pull it off. But the re-test was not free (also what I'm used to). It was an additional $25. On top of that, there was a $3 per transaction charge for running my credit card. All told, I spent $80.75 for a freakin' smog test, and I didn't even drink the complimentary soft drink! Nobody likes getting their smog done , but this is the place to go if you want to have a pleasant and awesome experience. Everyone working here is so nice, and they offer you a soda. Talk about customer service. The line is short and they are very proficient in everything that they do. Depending on what time of day you go, they can even do your registration for you with the DMV and give you stickers on the spot. I could not recommend anyone else and I have been coming here for years. The prices are up front, and they don't up charge or gouge. I would highly recommend them. read more

Dont come here place is a rip off and olice mirzakhanian needs to be trained in customer service! First off they charged me $60 even though vehicle didnt pass because the onboard diagnostic self test catalyst monitor was not ready ( my honda is 2012) so even though nothing was wrong with my vehicle smog check could not continue. Ok payed the money and in the receipt it clearly states that a free retest was possible as long as it was within 15 days ok so i come back 10 days later and olice mirzakhanian wants to charge me $25 for retest, i showed him my receipt and insists that its company policy. I usually go to a different smog check location but when I saw the reviews for this location I thought it would be perfect since it was closer to my home. I was incredibly disappointed with the service. My car did not pass the initial check and so I returned after the initial check for my retest. They told me that I had to pay the full price for the smog check again because I didn't return by 15 days. They never told me there was a limit on the amount of days. I screwed up and sent in my registraion payment without reading it, I never received tags and got pulled over. I went to the Arleta DMV at 14444 Van Nuys Bl., and was told that I needed a smog certificate. I checked yelp, and drove here. Clean one man shop. Polite young man was finishing another man's car, offered us both cold beverages, water or pop, but no diet pop. Both tests were finished quickly and we both passed. I took the certificate to the four blocks back to the DMV and got my new tags. Yelp saved the day, and this place deserves another 5 stars! read more

He then told me if i had a paper with a bar code from the previous owner and i replied with a no and he said "well go check its your car" with an attitude so i checked and didnt have it so he said "this is gonna make my job harder" and i was like BOY THATS NOT MY PROBLEM! I came here after I tried to go to the nearest smog check place to my house. The first smock check station tried charging me EIGHTY BUCKS! Outrageous to me since when I lived in Denver I could get my test done for 25$. So I checked this place out on yelp and had awesome reviews so I said oh well it's only 2 miles further. Best decision I've made all day! Charges me only 40$ offers me a beverage and a shady cool place to sit and looks like they're done with my test as I type this. The owner is so incredibly nice.
