I chose Geek Squad specifically because I expected a professional repair performed by trained technicians. Instead, I left with a phone that had a significant haze/glow across the rear-camera images that was not present before the repair. I was told the camera had been affected by alcohol from wipes used during the repair. Correcting the problem required me to make another hour-long trip to the store the following day and spend several more hours having the repair addressed. Thankfully, the camera was ultimately repaired on my second trip, and my phone is now functioning normally. My concern is less about the final outcome than about how the situation happened and the customer experience surrounding it. What concerns me most is the apparent backlog in this Geek Squad department. During both visits I experienced lengthy waits, including with an appointment. I also observed other customers being told of 2-3 hour repair windows, with only one technician apparently handling the repairs. I have since seen multiple reviews describing similar delays and the same staffing concern going back years. In my opinion, this appears to be more than an isolated busy day. When a department is consistently overloaded, customers wait excessively and technicians are working under pressure. That creates a poor customer experience and, potentially, increases the risk of mistakes during repairs. I chose Geek Squad because I expected trained technicians and professional workmanship. I hope Best Buy will look closely at the staffing and workload at this location and determine whether the department has the resources necessary to provide the level of service customers are paying for.
