Very interested in coming back. I was not let down by my online research on this store. There was a…read morevery large selection of educational tools and/or educational toys. They also sell kinetic sand, Magna-Tiles, magic water marbles, building blocks, floor puzzles, board games, educational DVDs and CDs ... I could go on, but then this review would just be a list of every cool plaything that's out there. But they don't just sell toys here. This place is also a school supply store and place for teachers to buy items for their classrooms, including banners, posters and things for classroom organization. There's also a space in the back of the store just for laminating. The prices are comparable to other brick-and-mortar stores, and you might be able to find some of their products cheaper online, however, I can't think of a place in the area that has this much selection, where you can actually see the toys and products and -- in many cases -- play with them. Which brings me to another reason why I love Lakeshore: They have stations throughout the store set up with different toys and games for the kids to play with. It's so fun! (Well, it's fun for kids; it's not so fun for the adults who have to pry the kids away from the store.) On Saturdays and Sundays, they offer drop-in art workshops for kids for free. Each weekend, kids make a different fun craft.

Best of all: All of these items are provided to the teachers for free. The things that teachers can shop for range from backpacks to pencils, binders to STEM books, Lysol wipes to poster board. All of those things that teachers sometimes tend to pay for out of their own pockets -- they are given in abundance here for free. I love this place so much. If you're a teacher, you can sign up to shop at the Teachers' Treasures website. Then, you visit during your designated time, grab a shopping cart and get the supplies you need. Teachers' Treasures is only open on certain days and at certain times, so you need to make a reservation in order to visit. If you are looking for a volunteering opportunity, Teachers' Treasures is always looking for volunteers to help stock shelves, unload products from pallets and assist teachers as they shop. This wonderful organization relies on volunteer efforts.

They also have a great selection of gorgeous coffee table books, cookbooks, and various paper goods (notebooks, planners, etc). They also have a featured shelf with books that have upcoming book club discussions planned! I love the way The Whispering Shelf encourages community building and am so glad to have them in Indy. The Whispering Shelf features a fabulous assortment of stationery/ cards, gifts, books with handwritten recommendations (always a sucker for these little personal touches from a bookstore) and an expensive children's section. I was especially enamored by the children's section and display. There were several interactive elements to keep kids busy while you peruse the shelves (smart!). They offer a variety of events throughout the month for book clubs, storytime and more. Can't wait for more future visits and to do our Christmas shopping here!
