Most of the big ones in Austin such as Weed-Corley-Fish and Cook-Walden have been bought up by big companies such as Service Corporation International (SCI) and therefore usually profit margin is the number one driving factor when running a business by a big conglomerate. Harrell Funeral Home is not that way. They treat you like family, responsive to your needs and requests, do everything in the most professional and dignified manner possible. Even when they arrived to pick up my mother who had passed away at home, they were gentle in lifting her, asked us how they wanted us to wrap her, and placed a beautiful cover over her when they took her to an unmarked Mercedes van to transport her to the funeral home. They help you think of things that you may not have considered when a loved one passes. What I like best about them is their cremation facility in is onsite in South Austin so if you want to stay with your loved one until the very end, you are allowed to do that. Many places will nickel and dime you for every little thing but that is not the case with Harrell. They offer free online obituaries, free video tributes to go with your obituary, free grieving resources, and assistance with typing up loose ends such as procuring death certificates and closing out digital identities and financial matters of your loved one. Paul and Jason were so kind during this delicate time and there was never a hard upsell at any time. They respected my mother's wishes and my wishes for what we needed from them. I can't say enough great things about Harrell Funeral Homes and for anyone who has to unfortunately make those hard decisions, I would highly recommend calling Harrell to support you during that time.

This upstanding and respectful group of people at Harrell did EVERYTHING within their power to live up to both Mom's wishes as well as my own. You can definitely trust these folks. I wish I could give them 6 stars. Post Script: I understand why the folks are commenting negatively below. Their concerns were mine also. HOWEVER, Harrell has made some personnel changes now and I would encourage you to meet with them to find out for yourself. When my father passed away, I honestly had no idea what to do. My mom recommended taking him here as we were cremating his remains and she saw in a Statesman article many years back that all the funeral homes doing cremations send their clients to All Faiths since they were one of the only crematories for Austin. What I really enjoyed was that we were able to meet the morning after he passed and they did not try to upsell us on ANYTHING. The director mentioned certain services that would be good in case of a viewing (like embalming, etc), but he recommended against it because it wouldn't be nessecary in the end. Now, I REALLY like that. We knew already we weren't going to have a viewing, so that was no problem. The director didn't even try to upsell us on various caskets used for cremation. He explained very well what would be "standard" - which my Dad wanted. There was a price list for the "standard" set up which came out around a little under $900 for the whole thing. He didn't try to sell us any urns, but gave a catalogue to look through in case we were thinking about some. I really really loved how the director kept everything very calm and casual and didn't try to take advantage of us like a lot of other places tend to do. In the following weeks, they were very communicative in regards to when things were ready (death certificates, the urns I ended up ordering, etc). When my father's cremains were ready, they were very courteous and very supportive. So do I WANT to do business with them again in the future? Not really... But since they do have excellent, compassionate service and cut-out-the-middle-man type prices here, I'd definitely recommend them to just about anyone in Austin looking to be cremated in the future or you have a loved one who has requested that you don't overspend on them after death, I'd definitely recommend All Faiths.

When our…read morebeautiful13-year-old daughter passed from Ewing Sarcoma at MDA in Houston, we were initially transferred to another facility for cremation -- a rushed process that left us uneasy because the facility was so cold and nothing like what we expected for our sweet girl. Late that evening, while searching for a place that would truly honor her, we found Cremation.Green. We called close to 9 p.m., and Laci answered with such compassion and understanding. She immediately helped us make arrangements, and by the next morning, they sent a vehicle and our daughter was lovingly brought to their farm. The experience was beyond what we could have hoped for. We were able to watch the entire cremation and send her off ourselves -- something that brought immense peace and closure. The facility was modern, serene, and absolutely beautiful, with a viewing room designed in the warmest, most comforting way imaginable. When we walked out with her ashes, the wind was softly blowing, and the trees and windmill seemed to wave us on. In that moment, we felt a deep sense of calm and gratitude. We are forever thankful to Cremation.Green for creating such a sacred, dignified, and loving space for our little birdie's farewell.

Luckily the city has support services that help you in the process and the counselor they sent did a google search and found this place because I wanted to deal with a place that was close to home. They had a list of funeral homes and cost for cremation from traditional funeral homes was exorbitant just for the cremation not including transport, storage, fees, etc. So we found this place and the counselor called this place on my behalf. It took about an hour for them to get the body and later that afternoon I was able to talk with them on what services I needed. Pricing is very transparent and they handle almost all of the paperwork online. I was able to select the urn, extra death certificates, and get it expedited. they handle all of the paperwork and filing and you even get an obituary page with unlimited words. There was a slight hiccup with the Dr delaying the signature in the death certificate but it was resolved quickly and it took less than a month to receive my husband's ashes. On top of that it's carbon neutral and they use the cleanest technologies. They offer other services like green burials or water cremation as well. I didn't opt for a viewing but they also provided services around that too. Since I live central my pick up was off 290 but they also have a couple other locations further north or south. If you're looking for an alternative that is environmentally friendly and won't break the bank I can say this is a good option.

Thankfully my Dad dealt with everything and decided that, sure, he would play ball and bought the 3 plots. Everything was handled professionally for my daughter's service and plot. Fast forward to December 2020. My aforementioned Dad passed away. His death was very unexpected. We knew he wanted to be buried next to his granddaughter and immediately made arrangements for him to be transported from Houston to Austin. Everything related to the transfer and grave-side service was handled great. We took great care with designing my Dad's marker. My Mom placed the final order December 2020. We were told it would be placed on 3-5 months. It is now almost a year later and still no marker. My Mom initially reached out to her contact at Cook Walden (Kyle) multiple times via email with no response. She called and left multiple messages with no response. Luckily I live in Austin and was able to park myself at the funeral home until someone would speak to me. After multiple assurances that 'everything was being done' to get my Dad's marker placed, I left. I reached out via text message multiple times and was told that 'shipping delays were causing delivery issues, etc.'. Sure. This would be a valid excuse for a month, 3 months, 6 month delay, but it's been a YEAR. A whole YEAR. My last text message was unanswered.
