Ok so it's almost the end of April and summer is coming so I will let you in on my secret but…read moreplease don't take my time slot ok? ;) It's been over a year and I am still working out at FGT, twice a week for 60 minutes with my husband. For the past 5 months, we have been training exclusively with Christian. He brings maturity and experience far beyond his years. He plans each workout in advance and tracks our progress. Each workout is different and never boring! He pushes us hard but is also careful and checks in as for example, I had an injury (non gym related) and he is always watching to make sure I don't hurt myself. He combines muscle, balance, cardio and flexibility in his workouts. He corrects our form (so we don't get hurt). He is hands on throughout the session and constantly encourages us. We have had significant results since training with Christian. Our efforts are optimized for time that we spend training. Some of the benefits we have reaped from training with Christian include; loss of body fat, increased lean muscle mass, improved flexibility, improved endurance, better coordination and balance, consistency (he has never cancelled on us!), motivation and so much more. I also go to 30 minute fit which is included in the package of training sessions we purchased. I almost always go at the times when there is a trainer in the room as I want to be corrected if I am not doing something right. (Again I don't want to get injured and I want success sooner than later...) it usually takes me a few more minutes than 30 but it's fast and a great, quick workout. They have different packages available but just know that this is NOT anything like the gyms down the street. Not at all! When you walk in the door, you are recognized and you will recognize the others. Crowded here means maybe 3 people in the 30 minute fit room? Seriously it's very small, there is no drama, no fashion show..no cold stare downs or whatever is going on in those other gyms ;) It's small. It's friendly. People are genuine. Hard work = results and you will have all the support you need right here.

I learned how to workout safely and how and when to progress with free weights without injury. I learned it was okay to go slow, to listen to my body and that I could come back after needing a timeout due to life/my body and still progress. I've gone from zero workouts to doing full body workouts with progressive free weights and treadmill consistently. My arms are stronger. My arms/shoulders can do more. Nicole also helped me with my legs and I've gone from climbing up/down my stairs one at a time to going up/down normally without holding on to anything.

You are doing cardio and do not even realize it because you concentrate on your station and work it hard. I LOVE the energy. The music level was fine. When it's busy the level the music is at is perfect. Their playlist is energizing and you feel happy as your move along. This gym is very clean and it's so nice to jump in when you arrive. No time schedules, no classes, jump in and get your work out going. Rarely is there a wait to start your circuit. 30 minutes and you'll be feeling great. Changes come fast. I love how the work outs are small groups with really awesome coaches, every single coach has been so helpful with form, offering alternative movements if needed, giving helpful feedback while also encouraging you to lift heavier and push harder and I feel like every coach truly wants you to be the healthiest strongest person you can be! All the coaches and the owner Jake are so friendly and make the work out classes fun but challenging. They are all so knowledgeable about nutrition and fitness, they're all so amazing and so great at helping to keep you motivated! All the other members are so encouraging too, it really makes a difference when the other people doing the work out with you and pushing themselves just as hard if not harder and are super friendly while encouraging you to push yourself too. I've had such an awesome experience at this gym unlike any other gym I've attended. The community this gym has created is truly one of a kind! My only regret is not finding them sooner! I really love the structure of the work outs with the hour classes having portions for strength training and portions endurance training. I personally really enough being able to focus on trying to lift heavy and really work certain muscle groups and then finishing the work out off with another portion to really get your heart rate going. The nutrition plan I started with the 6 week program was really well thought out and all the food was tasty, nothing was bland or boring. Every meal I felt full and wasn't craving more food. I also made some new recipes that I really love and still make for myself from it! My first Yelp event!…read more After getting lost, I found lab Athletics tucked away off Meridian near a warehouse. They wasted no time in putting us through a challenging workout! Unlike some other gyms, you can tell the trainers sincerely care about you as a person and helping you attain your fitness goals. They also have 6 week challenges, personal training and Jurassic Snacks onsite for some tasty post-workout treats. Although this type of bootcamp style workout (burpees, mountain climbers, flipping huge tires,etc) does not appeal to me, it motivated me to get back on track with exercise I do enjoy. Highly recommend lab Athletics for those looking for a grueling workout and fantastic, professional and motivating and experienced trainers.

One of the best parts of moving back to the Ham was discovering a brand new Club Pilates in town! I…read moretook their free introductory class and was hooked. I had never done Pilates before, but had always been intrigued. The 1/2 hour intro class was a fun way to check out the space, spend some quality time on the Reformer, and decide that I wanted to try this more! Fast forward a month, and I'm about to take my 10th class. My body already feels better - not just stronger, but more limber, a little more balanced, and generally just better after a busy-but-sluggish winter. A great bonus has been the "me" time for some mental clarity and general de-stressing. So far I've taken the CP Reformer 1 and Center & Balance classes, but hope to try some other classes as I become more experienced and comfortable with the equipment and techniques. The instructors are each a little different, and it's been fun getting to know their individual styles. My only issue is that their app (which is tied to the bigger CP brand, not necessarily to the Bham studio) is clunky at times. Twice now, it's shown that I have class credits available, but I've been unable to book without calling. The good news is, they are always friendly and helpful when I call. :) Looking forward to what the future holds as I continue my Pilates journey!

All the front desk lady told me was that it was 90$ for four classes that I could use up until the following month. After my four classes I didn't plan to re attend due to money being tight. But they kept trying to charge my card. That's when I discovered I signed up for three months. It was my fault for not reading it but it was presented to me as a waiver. Now they are going to try to charge me 100$ just to not go back there. The way they had me do a free class and not properly explain anything was very predatory. Why would i pay them for a service I do not want.

There's a good selection of classes to choose from and they're included in the membership and my opinion is, classes are much more fun and compelling than just trudging along solo on a treadmill or pumping out reps, y'know? The only downside (to me) is they don't have a hot tub or sauna.. but they do have nice showers with endless hot water, which can be soothing...
