Staff have been very friendly and helpful. I believe the long term plan is to continue to develop this facility, and the older center on Halleck Street will revert to Whatcom County. This new facility is much larger and in better shape than, and should allow WCOA to continue to serve the community for years to come.

It was a great place before the changeover, and seems to have changed little since. The Center is a great resource for seniors in particular, providing a gathering place and offering multitudinous activities, meals, a library, a game room, and exercise equipment. Membership is $45 a year, which, considering all tht is offered is a heck of a deal, and something to support, particularly if you are a senior.

I've attended three or four class sessions so far and they are entertaining and informative. I'm struggling a little getting the motions down, but that is just me being in a new class with no experience in the subject. The instructor is nice and encouraging. I have every intention of attending these classes until I become adept at the art of Tai Chi.

Today I went to the brand new gym inside the Minoru Centre for Active Living. Everything is brand…read morenew and staff was really helpful. The yearly pass cost $527 which includes the pool but too bad the new pool is not open until later. However, this pass does allow you to use other fitness facilities in other community centers. The gym is open from 7am to 9 pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 5pm on weekends. I wish the hours are longer but I think they will once the pool is open.
