This place is not clean. The sauna is extremely dirty, there's things growing inside of it. Not going back.

Fitness World Canada is overall pretty solid. The gym is clean, well maintained, and has all the…read moreequipment you need for a good workout. I used to have a membership here and was paying around $12-$13 biweekly before I canceled it last June, so I was pretty surprised to see the current drop-in fee at $21. I clearly remember it being about $12 a year ago, which is nearly a 50% increase and feels excessive. If the pricing--especially the drop-in rate--was more reasonable, this would easily be a higher-rated gym.

Whether you're a BEGINNER (like me) or a regular member, the quality of this location is the best…read morein my honest opinion. I've looked at 3 other FW gyms...they don't match the FRIENDLY community we have here in Richmond which is why I highly recommend this place along with their talented personal trainers. Speaking of friendly trainers, my personal trainer Jay Fayyaz and I were immensely compatible. Without his tailored program, motivation, and the numerous form corrections and workouts he showed me...my fitness goal (bulking up then cutting to lean) would have taken years longer to achieve on my own. With him pushing me to achieve heavier sets and getting those last few reps, I was able to see muscle mass growth, body fat loss, and overall healthy weight gain in the 2months I've worked with him. Here are some reasons why I recommend Jay. Friendly, kind, funny, positive healthy attitude, HONEST & transparent, growth & development mindset. He makes you work for your money not the other way around. You will definitely see gains with him. But understand that hard work and results mostly comes from yourself and PTs are only there to guide you towards your goals. If you don't eat healthy, have 10 cheat meals each week, and expect to 6-pack abs and giant hulking arms in two weeks you will be at the gym forever with the wrong foundations. But with a personal trainer, they will see what your specific needs are and tailor their program to you. Overall, I'm very satisfied with my experience here and I would recommend to sign up with a personal trainer that is compatible with you. The right trainer will give you the workouts and motivation that works for you. But without one, you can still enjoy working out casually if you know what you're doing. For the vast majority of us who are new to the gym, having a personal trainer teaching you and correcting your form is immensely valuable.

Although price is comparable to Steve Nash, I am now going to AF Richmond because it is transit friendly (by Aberdeen Station), & they don't have pushy sales people. The gym is brand spanking new, so they have modern and new equipment. They have a good range of cardio and strengthening equipment. They even have a punching bag to take out your frustrations on! That's exciting for me. Plus, you can watch a show of your choice as you're on the cardio machines. If you dread going to the gym like I do, this is a big deal. They're open all the time, with staff on site during mall hours. Otherwise, you work out at any time with your special access fob. The gym has towel service and three individual bathrooms (1 washroom and 2 showers). There's not that many people at this point (or at least when I go in the evening), so you won't have to hang too closely with other sweaty peeps like yourself. Facility seems to be environmentally friendly with water bottle fountains and automatic lights in the bathroom. Maybe the lights are environmentally friendly too? At least, I hope so. The only downside is they don't have that many group classes. Zumba, martial arts and some other class. I hope they add more classes soon. Overall, I'm pretty happy with my membership, mostly because it is more accessible to me=I can go there more often. I pay about $45/month, which is okay. At least I actually use this membership because of above reason. Plus, the franchise owners are approachable and helpful. Always a good way to start!

It was conveniently located close to us so we started going. The first class was tough. For a person who has tried a couple of the franchise boxing gyms in Vancouver - I had the wind knocked out of me a little bit - but in a great way. I found the instructors to be invested in improvement, technique, and structure from the beginning. I genuinely felt like I took away something from that class, and I find that quite rare for fitness classes. Not only have me and my husband become "regulars" to our standards, but we have also been able to genuinely build a passion for boxing through these classes. Every instructor is passionate about how they teach, what they teach and how you are progressing. I have lower back issues and multiple times, from other regular comers, professional boxers that compete and attend the gym and the instructors, I have gotten so much advice on how I could help with that pain and strengthen my muscles. I genuinely feel like you become a part of a family here - and I would highly recommend this place if you are looking for something to grow into, a caring family to be a part of and a KICK-ASS workout.
