I am just wrapping a 6 day fasting retreat with Millan. It has been such an incredible time. Millan is such a grenerous, smart, kind, and loving woman. The way she cared for each of us was profound. We were always encouraged to come to her with questions or concerns, any time of the day or night. She was such a lovely and informative caretaker. The accommodations were nice, clean, and SO comfortable!! We were provided with SO much educational information about health and nutrition. We had foot detoxes, colonic hydrotherapies, and massgae. Additionally, there is an infared sauna, body vibration equiptment, and a saltwater pool and spa. I was seeking a body/mind/soul detox. The 10lbs, 2" off my waist, and 1" off my hips I lost was such an amazing bonus! Thank you so much, Millan, for such a special time . You are truly a blessing to me and so many others! I am leaving today with so much thankfulness... I not only experienced a reset of all of my systems but have gained a very special friend as well! read more

A-One Fasting Retreat - Friends for life - Health Retreats Near Me - Julian, California

Millan is a very nice woman. She is very likable and knowledgeable regarding the plant-based lifestyle.  Unfortunately, however, I cannot recommend her Fasting Retreat (A-One), because I did not meet my fasting goals as a result of investing time, energy, and money into her Retreat.  I lost 11 pounds during a 5-nights/6 days stay at her home/Retreat Center. However, my goal was a 40-day water fast, and Millan was made aware of my goals at the onset of our conversations.  During our initial conversations, I explained my desires and health goals to Millan. She encouraged me to attend her Retreat (she only had ONE SEAT OPEN, at a $100 discounted rate --- $1,850 for 5 nights/6 days, instead of $1,950 --- oh, boy!).  I was feeling ill from excessive food and spirits after the Holidays, and I wanted to cleanse. Millan quoted me a rate for 14 days and told me she would Coach me after I returned home for 30 days. With hesitation, I agreed.  There were faux pas with Bank transactions, which made me think God was trying to dissuade me from attending Millan's Retreat. This may have been the case, I do not know.  Milan's house is the Retreat Center. It is a nice house, but it is old, and it is extremely cold. I cut my 14-day stay short (reverting to 6 days) because I could not bear the coldness of the attached room of her house where I stayed, which she also uses as an Airbnb.  I told Millan that my reasons for leaving early were financial, but it was not. It was because her house was too cold. Her onsite Sauna does not get very hot, and the hot tub that she advertises in her initial literature was never turned on during my stay, although I specifically asked on one occasion. Additionally, her two dogs are cute, but they are extremely invasive --- especially for people attempting the quietude necessary for a water fast. I like animals and pets, but by the end of my stay, I realized the need to ignore the dogs.  Her colonic services were good. The foot detox was good. The area surrounding her house includes a nice hiking trail with nice views.  I was not impressed with the $50 massage that she paid for at the local Chinese (or Thai, I cannot exactly recall) Massage Parlour. I am a former Licensed Massage Therapist, so for nearly $2,000, I expected a real massage at a genuine Spa from an advanced Massage Therapist, who could also provide deep tissue and Shiatsu. Instead, the woman who provided my "so-called" deep-tissue massage seemed like a new graduate from the local basic massage school. The massage was not good --- and Millan also left me responsibility for the tip, after only paying for my $50 massage. If the Massage had been acceptable, I would not have minded, but the Massage was not good, by my standards, and I was the client who needed to be pleased --- not Millan.  Every day, Millan has planned activities for attendees of the Retreat, including a morning (9 am) Zumba class, which she conducts in her small living room. For an 80-year-old woman, the Zuumba is impressive. However, for anyone under 60 who lives (and works and plays and exercises) in the real, everyday world? Millan's Zumba is okay, but not that impressive.  In truth, most people would simply prefer to be left alone while they are fasting.  I presume that many people who attend these types of Retreats know about health and fitness. At least this was the case while I was in attendance.  So, Millan's scheduled "lectures" and group film viewings (one of which she insisted was "mandatory," which is ridiculous since grown people have the right to do as they please during a Retreat for which they invest their own time and money).. are therefore irritating. Simply give people links to the videos, and allow them to view the material on their own time, but leaving people ALONE would be my recommendation.  I lost 11 pounds during the 5 nights/6 days of water fasting, but this is to be expected. Anyone who fasts on water (and tea) only will lose weight. It is a no-brainer, and no great accomplishment or feat on behalf of the Retreat facilitator other than the fact that they have charged money to share their time and space.  And, by the time I arrived at Millan's Retreat Center, her story regarding the 30 days of Coaching after I left the Retreat, had changed to an offer of only 10 days of Coaching. Since I had opted to leave after only 6 days, I did not barter with her regarding her after-departure Coaching services. Again, I left after only 5 nights. I could not wait to get home since it was freezing in Millan's house. Then, within 2 or 3 days of Millan's "coaching," she suggested that I should think about receiving "the Holy Spirit."  Millan is a born-again Christian, and like all born-agains (I was raised by Evangelicals, so I know, and there is a REASON I converted to Catholicism and became a Metaphysician), Millan could not resist the urge to promote her religious preferences over others. I like prayer and the Bible, but I am not a "Born-again" Christian. read more

I found Millan via Google and went for a 6-Day Fasting Retreat. Millan is an 81 year-old with the mind, body and spirit of someone in her 40s, and that is impressive because one can easy tell that she walks the talk. Her house is beautiful and clean. Millan is very knowledgeable and she cares about her clients. During the fasting I felt supported and I was surprise I wasn't hungry. Everybody reacts differently to fasting but what is worth mentioning here is that Millan is with you all the time, observing how your body responds and reacts to fasting. I am now off to a healthier life style. This retreat gave me the push I needed at a reasonably price. The extras are amazing: colonics, massage, and a few machines one can use while fasting. In short, doing a detox/fasting retreat with Millan is an opportunity to be guided by someone experienced, caring and at a reasonable cost. Millan inspires everybody just by being her healthy self. One day, I decided I wanted to learn how to fast. I have never fasted before and I knew this was something that I couldn't do by myself. She has over 36 years experience working with tons of people. While at A-1 Fasting Retreat, I learned about the body's gut and how cleansing and detoxing makes a world of difference. Her program was easy to follow especially since she is there practically holding your hand and spoon feeding you. I have had the most wonderful time at Millan's retreat. Her home is so inviting and beautiful. My private room and bath had everything I needed. I felt relaxed and very comfortable. This retreat is everything you could ask for in a fasting environment- healing, tranquil and educational. Millan's home is beautiful and comfortable. It has a beautiful pool/spa and sauna in a big backyard where it is lovely to relax. All the essentials are provided and if you need anything beyond that, Millan is happy to provide. This was my first fast and it was far easier than expected thanks to the supportive environment. It's truly amazing what the body and mind can do in less than a week's time. I came for more of a mental reset than a physical one, but have happily achieved both. Millan is the real deal and one of the most genuine and caring people you will ever meet. She goes out of her way to ensure the guests are cared for, but lets you have your space if you have to work (like I did) or just need some alone time. She is a wealth of knowledge about fasting, raw food, healthy living, etc. The retreat provides a range of detoxing services, like foot detox and colon hydrotherapy, performed by Lisa who is equally lovely. Millan is a liar and a fraud. This place is horribly disorganized and -- in fact -- one of the women left after two days due to the disorganization. The Zumba classes are conducted an hour away and the fast is in Millan's house in the mountains, where you are subjected to food in the kitchen and virtually no privacy. The level and degree of unprofessionalism is egregious. I went there for a five day rejuvenation fast and she agreed to a reduction in fee for a work exchange. Instead, she tried to indenture me to slave labor and her intention was to deceive me into doing all kinds of dirty work and throw me out a couple of days later. I've engaged in numerous fasts over the past 30 years and this is the worst ever. I contend and maintain that Millan is a fraud. Go elsewhere. I ACTUALLY DISPUTED THE CHARGES WITH MY CREDIT CARD COMPANY. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. MILLAN IS A LIAR AND A FRAUD. read more

I found Millan and A One fasting retreat while doing a search on fasting and detox. I was looking for a way to cleanse my body, lose weight, and most off all get off prescription medications. I thoroughly enjoyed my fasting week with Millan. I learned so much about how to fast successfully. I have tried fasting before and failed miserably. Her methods made it possible for me to learn how to fast the entire week. I had to leave the retreat a day early, because of a family emergency, so I did not get to weigh or measure after the week of fasting, but I do have a phenomenal measurement report to give about how much better I fit in the airplane seatbelt on the way home! With the airplane seat belts, I always have to pull them out to the largest they will go with only a 1/2 inch tail or tag left. Typically, I barely fit in those seat belts. On my way home from the fast and to my pleasant surprise, I pulled the seat belt on the plane all the way out like I usually do to buckle. I buckled it, and I pulled the tail or tab to tighten it, and I had a 5 1/2 inch tail!!!! That doesn't mean I lost 5 inches, but it means I lost a lot of inches to be able to have that long of an extension on the tail or tag that you pull to tighten the seat belt! Wahooooo! I have been coming back to Millan's retreat again and again because it is the only cleansing resort that uses every means to detoxify and rejuvenate one's body. I lose a lot of weight and I lose a lot of inches too; and when I return home, my metabolism doesn't slow down which you find at so many other fasting retreats. Each time I come here I am able to continue my weight loss and regain my health for many months after I leave but then life and stress take me off course and I come back to reset.
