I dropped this dentist years ago but was unable to leave a review. My insurance covered almost everything, but this dentist always found a way to charge me for something. The things that my insurance paid for he didn't have. he did let me make payments on my porcelain crown, but when I needed 2 more crowns. I was disrespected by a fill in front desk person when I arrived to get my crowns. she told me that the doctor did not take payments, and I told her that he did. He let me make payments for my last crown. If I had known this, I would have never let him do the root canals because I could not afford to pay for the porcelain crowns in one payment. basically, he came to the rescue of the weirdo in the front and rescheduled my appointment. He cancelled my appointment, so I switched my dentist. Moral of the story don't get misled by him being kind. He is out for whatever money he can get you to spend thumbs down not 1 star. My family and I have a long history with Dr. Nguyen. We used to go to his old practice in Woodland when I lived nearby in Davis. When we moved to the Bay Area, none of the dentists we established care with were as good as Dr. Nguyen. It was serendipitous to discover he opened up A Nobel Smile in the Bay Area as well in Hercules! We find Dr. Nguyen to be highly skilled and reasonable dentist. Getting novocaine shots are usually very unpleasant for me because of my needle-phobia. Not to say I enjoy it but he is the the only dentist who makes it so I don't feel all the pokes and prods of the needle. I pay out-of-pocket using my flexible health spending account and find his prices very reasonable. The prices are lower than other dentists I've gone to in the area. He doesn't upsell or pressure you to get anything unnecessary either so I really appreciate that. He will advise you on preventative care of problem areas that don't require immediate and expensive dental procedures. On the other hand, he uses good judgment and will tell you if there is something that needs to be done right away. His business method of trying to establish a longterm patient-dentist relationship was a nice contrast to other dentists who try to scare patients into getting many expensive procedures right away. read more

I only gave one star due to the fact that zero stars is not possible. I took my disabled mother to her dentist appointment. As we waited we listened to Dr. Nguyen be totally condescending to another patient and outright tell her "if you don't like it, go somewhere else." And when he took my mother in, he the same rude, condescending attitude. Any questions my mother had, he treated her like she was attacking him. Dr Nguyen is constantly working alone and when he does have staff they can't seem to communicate patient's needs to each other. He also ended up telling my mother "if she didn't like it to go somewhere else" I finally stepped in and told my mom to take the hint and walk away. He proceeded to argue with me about he was right and that my mother was disrespecting him for taking up his time and questioning his work. This man may know his work but he has no matters. read more

My husband had a cap made for his tooth and installed with Dr. Nguyen. Hubby said his experience was good and we came from a very expensive dentist in Albany so I trust that Dr. Nguyen knows what he's doing. I'll probably switch over soon too. read more

I love Dr. Nguyen and his staff! Everyone is very pleasant and professional. I had switched over to A Nobel Smile two years ago, and I'm very pleased with the dental care that I have received. Dr. Nguyen is very thorough with his check ups, I'm soo happy that i don't have to wait for a crown or filling because the office is equipped with latest technology and machines that it can be done in house. There's never a long wait (which is a HUGE plus!) and the office is clean. i don't feel pressured about treatment plans, in fact I wanted to get Invisalign, and he was trying to convince me not to since it wasn't necessary. Every time I go in for my apts, the dr always asks me if I have any tooth discomfort. So after reading some of the other reviews, it was interesting that those patients would not inform the dr or the dental assistant of any tooth issues DURING their apt, then be upset after the fact that their teeth is still bothering them . If you don't tell the dr what the issue is during your apt, then that's your bad IMO. Overall, I would recommend Dr. Nguyen and his entire office staff to others. read more

I am really happy I found this place. First of all Elena is really nice and helpful. The office is very clean and pleasant and they use the latest high tech for crowns. They happily accept my Delta Dental insurance and I was able to schedule many appointments ahead of time to accommodate my needs. The Dr. Is very serious , but very professional and pleasant . He really cares about his work and he is doing an excellent job . He is very patient as I am not a very easy customer when it comes to my teeth. read more

The office is very clean and equipped to entertain my 6 yr old daughter while I was getting my two temporary crowns. The staff is very pleasant and helpful. Dr. Nguyen has been very professional and takes every opportunity to inform you about your procedure and realistic outcomes to expect. His demeanor is very relaxing and gentle and while in procedure watching a movie I even got to see his funny side. I am afraid of needles and have quite a bit of dental work ahead of me but I feel confident that with Dr. Nguyen I will make it through with minimal anxiety. read more

I had a cleaning appointment, after waiting 3 months for Covid. But Dr. Nguyen refused to do any cleaning. After 7 months, I usually have a lot of plague to be scraped, but he did not remove any. He was just examining my teeth, looking for expensive and more lucrative work, i.e. crown, fillings, and yes, deep cleaning. He did come up with quite a list, totalling over $4000 out of pocket. This was my regular dentist until today. I called to schedule a panoramic x-ray over a month ago at the request of my orthodontist (my insurance does not charge me anything extra when I go to my regular dentist). I even received a confirmation text last week, so you can imagine my surprise upon arrival when my dentist told me that they don't do panoramic x-rays. Clearly he knew what I was scheduled for because it was the first thing out of his mouth. However, he did tell me that they blocked out an hour for me so he could do my cleaning (I did not schedule a cleaning). I'm not mad that they do not do this type of X-ray; I am annoyed because no one thought that it would be good customer service to communicate this information to me prior to my appointment, starting with the receptionist that I initially scheduled it with. I drove here in rush hour traffic, and it was a complete waste of time. I did not get an apology or even a referral to someone who can do this X-ray; just a shoulder shrug from the dentist. I recently retired and was not able to take my dental insurance with me so I signed up for Kaiser Senior Advantage which included a dental plan for an extra fee. I was given A Nobel Smile as the place I could go. It was the only choice which I thought was odd. When I arrived the receptionist had me fill out papers, and then she took my X-rays. I thought this was a little odd and then she also assisted the dentist. He checked my teeth and said that I had decay in 2 teeth and a missing filling on the bottom right in the front. He then said he was going to clean my teeth and did so in about 10 minutes or less. I was given a estimate of how much it would be to fix the teeth and it was about $300.00 plus a $10.00 office fee. I decided I didn't want to go back there and looked online to buy a different plan for myself and found one that I could afford and go back to my prior Dentist. I made an appointment to get a cleaning and a check up. The cleaning was very thorough and took longer than 10 minutes which I was used to. The Hygienist checked the teeth and didn't see any decay or any filling missing. She then had the dentist come and check me and she didn't see any decay or filling missing either. I think because I had a less than desirable insurance plan that this dentist needed to find something to bring me back. I think he just tried to find something in order to make more money. I wouldn't recommend this dentist to anyone so if you go there beware! read more

The office is clean, quiet, and has high tech machinery. Elena was very friendly and works in the front at the desk and with the dentist. I was really surprised by how nice this place was and that my DMO was accepted, since my last dentist dropped me for my insurance before I even met her! I was very pleased with his observations of my teeth. The things that I used to point out and question other dentists on, were explained . The dentist seems like an honest person. He didn't require me to get a deep cleaning like Bright Dental tried to force me to have before allowing me to get a regular cleaning (I say it's a scam). As a first time visitor, I'm already referring the guy. He could have been friendlier and introduced himself, but really I'm there for the teeth. read more

I feel so violated and mis treated ! First I will say a nice thing about the Dentist he does have good technique and gentle hands. But the way the office is run and his not able to manage it is so disappointed. Miscommunications, blaming me for his mistakes. I made an appointment for a painful toothache and left my info on their answering machine. The receptionist called me back after two days and made an appt. for me. When I got there , they had me fill out entry papers and all good. Then they proceeded to take an X-ray , they poked and pronged and made grunts , never addressing my toothache. I was a little uncomfortable because the girl who gave me my results didn't ever ask me if I had any problems. IT was obvious from my phone call why I was there, but nobody wrote it on my chart. Ok. so when they finished the check up, they told me how I needed a couple of cavities filled, two crowns and deep cleaning. Still never checking the tooth that was in pain. I left feeling a little strange, then came back for my deep cleaning appt I spent another week in pain for my tooth. I went back and said, please I can't take it anymore please check my tooth again. so they took another X-ray. The dentist says. OH your tooth is dead and you need a root canal so I will refer you:( I was in shock, basically my gum was now infected because he never checked me the last visit or even noticed I had an infection. OMG..so I get the root canal, then go back for the crown and the promised lazer treatment (3x ) He does the temporary crown cause he didn't have time to do the permanent and says he has no time for the laser treatment. Then I go back for permanent crown two days later and he then tells me that the laser treatment that he still needs to complete will do me no good and the only way he should complete the lazer sessions is if I had the other side of my mouth deeper cleaned and crown put on a tooth he is saying is fragile. Well at this point I didn't believe anything that he said. Well he is talking another $800 or more that he thinks I can just pull out of a hat. He knew from the beginning that I was not in any position for a high priced treatment. I asked them what is most important so I could save and do slowly. After he knew I wasn't rich not was my plan the best, he treated me so bad, making me feel like I was a liar. Even when his receptionist told him that the laser was scheduled and it was on the appt book, he still ignored my complaint, telling me it was best I go somewhere else. He didn't want to admit that my mouth had an infection because he neglected to see it on my first visit, and then he said it was my fault because I didn't write it on his chart.?? FUNNY , I didn't know I was a trained dental assistant. Isn't that their job to write my reason to come in on their chart? SO hurt. I will never recommend or go anywhere near this dental office. No apology , oh but he did reimburse the laser treatment that they btw make you pay all before they even complete work. Now I'm very skeptical. BTW I have great teeth, had braces, dental care my whole life, this was the first time in my life they acted like my teeth were a mess. I alway get compliments of my smile. Extremely disappointed in this dental office and staff. The receptionist made an appointment for my elderly parents and when my parents who had to wait for more than a month for their appointment. When they arrived at the office they were told by the Dr. Nguyen that there was no appointment scheduled for them even though they had their appointment card with the appointment date and time written on it. The doctor then told them that he could not even verify that the appointment was made because his assistant was not there and he could not contact her until 2 days later. He had no consideration for the fact that they had to wait over a month for this appointment and that his seemingly incompetent assistance didn't even schedule the appointment on the computer. He did not offer to see them at all, stating he wanted to "verify" with his assistant that she actually gave us the appointment despite the fact we had an appointment card. He might have well insinuated that we took an appointment card from the desk and created our own appointment and then just showed up. Who does that???? Why would an 82 and 88 year old person steal an appointment card, write an appointment on the card and then just show up? After a lot of back and forth with this dentist, he reluctantly agreed to schedule one parent for a "20 minute" appointment in 2 days to assess what work they needed to have done. This is the WORST customer service I have EVER experienced with a medical professional. He did not want to even take responsibility for his staff's mistakes and did not want to accommodate patients who obviously needed help and did not want to go out of his way to make up for the mistake that was made. I hope no one else has to ever experience anything like this because this was awful. I sincerely hope this man realizes one day that he will get old, and his parents will get old, and to have an experience like this with a "doctor" is extremely unprofessional and unacceptable! read more

Great dentist. The office has top of the line equipment and furnishings, the inside looks very clean and fancy. Also, the staff was really kind. This place is the worst place ever. All they try to do is scam money out of you. I specifically made an appointment to get my teeth cleaned and when I went in they refused to clean my teeth until I got some teeth pulled out, get braces, get teeth filled in and so much more. I asked over and over to do what I made the appointment for. The doctor there refused and did nothing and still made me pay $79. When I refused to pay they threatened to call the authorities but why would I pay if you did not do what I asked you to do. Terrible place I strongly recommend to go somewhere else! read more

Out of my years of Dental experience's, this place should be top 1st place. A co-worker of mines recommended me to Nobel Smile, I wish I had knew about this place when I got my 1st tooth pulled, but that's ok cause I'm here now and will be staying for the rest of my Dental life. From the staff to Dr. Nguyen they welcome you not only with a smile but with warmth and understanding of what your going thru with your teeth, mouth etc.... For me he made me smile again and totally fixed every damaged teeth i had, saved the ones i still had and also replaced the old ones for new ones my mouth and all was so demolished cause I was really giving up on my teethssss until I came here, Dr. Nguyen did a very good job on my teeth and I love it so much!!! His Awesome and the Best. Oh I can't forget my favorite person I love to see!!!! Tenicia she is Amazing when I called to make an appointment, she was so helpful and very Patient with me,she answered all the questions I had and made me an appointment that very same day, I was so happy cause its hard to find a dentist office that will take you in quick like that plus willing to listen to the problems regarding your teeth; you can only find that in the Emergency Room in and out that's it Bye. I was seriously in so much pain that day when I walked in Tenecia the receptonist helped me fill out the paper work cause It had been 32 months since my last dentist visit and she asked why so long, so i told her my story with no judgement or sour face, she smiled at me and said Don't worry will take care of you here, just tell the Dr whats going on, in less than 5mins or lesser Tenecia said ok there ready for you I was so freaking empressed cause it was that quick. she is AWESOME JOSOME I like that. the assistant Joecyln who took my X-ray was also so nice and very gentle she knew i was in pain and worked very well to make sure i was comfortable that done and said, i didnt have to tell the Doc anything cause he already knew what to do and explained in details of my treatment plan, from that day on I started to have Faith in Dentist doc's and office again. I trust them so much, now my husband comes here and soon kids to see the Doc. Unfortunately, my experience was not a good one. It began at the front door with the very unprofessional, unwelcoming "reception' I received upon entering. i called last week to schedule an appointment. I had broken a tooth - was advised to come in between 5 and 5:15 to complete paperwork (first time at this office.) I got to the office at 5:20 and was advised I could not be seen, The receptionist said (with attitude) she was leaving to go home. She said the doctor advised me to get there at 5pm. (not true) Most first time visits require paperwork to be filled out I was prepared to do that. I did not know his office closed at 5:30 when the receptionist left. I had time to complete paperwork. She stated the doctor said he would not see me if she was not there. It was all so bazar. Her attitude was so uncaring and dismissive. In other words take it or leave it. I'm leaving it!!!! You can bet I'll be changing my dental plan during open enrollment so that I can RUN back to Hercules Dental!! read more
