This is an update to my previous review; I have had Terry back for another chimney sweep (firewood has become one of my primary heat sources since the price of natural gas continues to increase - so I like to have a comfort level that the chimney is clean). As expected, Terry was on time, very methodical, and neat. Same price as a year and 1/2 ago. This time, we also designed a chimney cap for the top of the chimney. Terry built it to the specifications out of aluminum, and returned a week later to install it. It looks great up there and we know it will help to protect our chimney top from the elements. Highly recommend A Neat Sweep-- we had our fireplace serviced the day after Thanksgiving 2018 and couldn't be happier with the results. Terry was very professional, was on time, called before arriving, and as his business name says--- was neat with no dirt left behind. He took time to explain what he did and was very reasonably priced. When you call the number you get a voice message which is up front with anticipated costs and they do call back within a reasonable amount of time. My wife and I just moved in to a house with a real fireplace/wood stove (yes, both) and thought it best to get a cleaning and inspection lest we burn the house down this winter. Based on solid reviews, we called A Neat Sweep and scheduled an appointment with Terry. He gave me the prices up front for the services he provides and we set a time. On the day of the appointment, Terry called me to let me know that he was on the way and arrived promptly on time. He carefully inspected the system and gave it a thorough cleaning. He took pictures of the chimney cap to show me the condition (good for a few more years) and the bill was exactly what I expected. No hidden charges, no pushing me to buy stuff I didn't need. I've had my 17 year old insert cleaned twice. Once years ago by a larger organization and then again this week by Terry with A Neat Sweep. There's really no comparison. He spent about 90 minutes on my fireplace, thoroughly cleaned the pipe from top to bottom, inspected from top to bottom including the cap and pan at the top of the chimney. This was misleading. We were looking for a home inspector and Neat Sweep promoted that they did this plus chimney work. They only do chimney work but we realized that people who are looking for home inspectors may get pulled into wanting to get a chimney inspection too. That's very misleading since not all houses will need that service especially new homes. Neat Sweep should only have listed that they do only chimneys and not home inspections too so they don't waste people's valuable time! read more
