This company did repairs on my chimney 2 years ago. The repairs included applying a heat shield to the tile lining. This fall I noticed that pieces of the heat shield are flaking off. I had the chimney inspected today. The technician explained that this is happening because the heat shield was applied to stage 3 creosote. This should not have been done because the heat shield does not adhere to creosote. This company cut corners rather than taking the time to do proper repairs. read more

Purchased home and previous homeowner had not used fireplace in years. We requested Advanced come out to inspect and clean if necessary. 5ere was an issue as to whether gas starter was even functional as well. Caleb arrived on time and was professional and considerate. Made sure to understand our concerns and proceeded to inspect all aspects of our fireplace. No remote but still able to confirm no leaks and pilot was functional. Interior inspection cleared. Pointed us in direction of replacement of remote and advised that replacement of transmitter w remote may be more efficient proceeded with exterior inspect and confirmed that branches needed to be cut back to allow proper clearance for code and noted that base flashing was gapping and that addressing that aspect would be necessary to avoid complications in future with leakage. I had bought the $99 Kudzu special and wasn't sure what to expect but at the very least I'd get my chimney cleaned. I was very pleasantly surprised. The service technician was about 10 minutes early for the 9:30a appointment. The technician was really nice, explained what was going on and what they are going to do. He was very thorough cleaning it and inspecting it from the inside and the outside. He did recommend some painting and caulking of the rain pan, but instead of pressuring me to have them do it right then, he gave me a price and also stated I could have a handy man do it as well. They finished in less than an hour and the house was spotless when they left. Will use again with or without the Kudzu deal. read more

I needed what turned out to be a minor chimney repair. Had one terrible company come out and clean and inspect and could not tell what my problem was for less than $200 to go up to look the top of the chimney (Groupon deal not rated on Yelp, I should have suspected). So much for the inspection I paid for. I called 2 other companies and they never returned my calls. Found Advanced web site and e-mailed with what I needed. I was contacted very promptly and they were very nice. I was given 3 options for an appointment within the next week (including Saturday which I usually have to beg for with service companies) for them to come and look and give me an estimate at no charge. I made the appointment and they showed earlier than promised for the appointment and were more than fair on the price and my chimney is now fixed. I now feel lucky the others didn't call back, I don't think any could compare to the excellent service and fair price I received from Advanced, outstanding customer service is hard to come by these days I highly recommend them. read more

I had purchased a set of gas logs online and needed to get them installed. A few places I called were too busy or wouldn't install gas logs unless they were purchased from them. He showed up on time, a little early, and was very polite and got right to work. After inspecting it he came in to explain then entire system to me and also told me it didn't need a cleaning so he wasn't going to charge me for it. He then gave me a complete run down of the work that needed to be done, with options, and pictures. He even told me I should get a couple more quotes to make sure before I got the work done. At first I thought they were great, I even recommend them to some of my clients (I sell real estate). Then the first set of logs I purchased from them went out a year later. They told me that there was a known issue with them and that the company RH Peterson / real fyre had a recall on them. He offered to replace the burner with another burner but it would not have all of the features of the one I bought. After spending over $1600 on gas logs I was not happy but some fire is better than no fire. Fast forward another year and now the logs won't light?? I call again and he doesn't have time to deal with it and tells me to call RH Peterson, so i did. RH Peterson request some photos of the logs and then informs me that 1) the log set is to big for my fireplace and 2) the logs were not properly installed. Both of which VOIDs any warranty claim. I explained to them that this is my 2nd burner in 3 years and tell them about the first set and they inform me that there was never a recall on those logs and they probably went out because the burner was to big. So now I have basically flushed $1600 down the drain and I am going to have to find some new gas logs and a new installer. On the bright side the 12 time I used the logs they looked nice. read more

First of all, everyone with this company was very nice and easy to work with. They were also the cheapest by far for an inspection and they were only going to clean the chimney if it needed it. I was told that our chimney was clean and didn't need cleaning, but also given a list of needed improvements that totaled over $3000. I am not knowledgeable about these things so we contacted a friend of ours in a different city who has a chimney repair/cleaning company. We gave him a detailed description of everything and he told us what was actually needed vs what was suggested, recognizing that he wasn't able to see it first hand and depending on the descriptions (written and verbal) of the inspector. He said we could do it ourselves. One of the products recommended was one that he actually discouraged us from using. So we ordered the damper and cap online (we didn't need the custom one they wanted to sell us for more than twice the price), and my husband did the work for about $350. And when he started working on the chimney he asked if the inspector actually looked into the chimney because he pulled out a few buckets of leaves, a nest with some dead birds, etc. and there were spiderwebs all in the chimney that hadn't been touched. He was wondering how thorough the inspection actually was. So, I imagine they could have done a good job doing all the things they wanted to sell us, but I don't think it was all needed (according to our experienced friend), and I do know that it needed cleaning when I was told that it didn't. read more

Caleb called earlier in the day to offer to come early (which I couldn't do), and he called to let me know he might be 10-15 minutes late due to traffic around my home. Caleb was very nice, polite, and informed me that I didn't need a cleaning, but he noticed the fireplace wasn't properly sealed. He sealed the inside of the fireplace, and went to the roof and sealed the chimney as well. Caleb also was nice enough to fill a few cracks he noticed around the chimney.
