Nice stop for lunch [Strasbourg, France]…read more We stopped by the restaurant for lunch. They had both indoor and outdoor dining available. The rustic wooden tables gave the place a unique look. Menus were accessible by QR code. Prices were decent, of course, a little higher due to the euro|dollar exchange rate. We ordered a couple of burgers. Smash Burger for my brother and Burger Fermier (Bacon Burger) for me. Both came with fries. The burger was a bit messy to eat, bun did not hold well but it was still good and tasty. Bacon was not like our bacon in the U.S. Service was good. Our waiter checked on us every so often but could not find him when it came time to pay. Atmosphere had a medieval feel. A little dark inside. Restrooms had dungeon type doors and it was dark. I guess that's how it was supposed to be designed. Overall good experience. Caupona means "tavern" in Latin. This restaurant is now going to be haunting me in my dreams it was that good . First off, the onion tart is crack. The perfect crust with fluffy eggs and onions and bacon. I would say generally I'm not the biggest fan of quiches, but the onion tart is a must. Then we had the white asparagus special with a soft boiled egg and lentils with the most flavorful dressing ever. I was with my two daughters and wife and we split the onion tart and asparagus special as an appetizer, and literally a fight almost broke out among us. My older daughter does not like salad and she actually couldn't believe she liked the side salad that came with her steak. Not the lame iceberg bagged salad mix you get it some restaurants.
