She took out her curling iron and put three curls in. Would not recommend.

Sin, the owner, calmed me down quickly with his obvious and confident knowledge of his trade. He talked to me about what I wanted, what I liked/didn't like about my hair, etc. I'm a fairly anxious guy, especially when it comes to making big changes in how I look, Sin's inviting atmosphere/personality made me feel comfortable asking the questions I wanted to ask and making the requests/adjustments I wanted. As others have said, his feedback was super valuable, and I feel more confident in my hair/look than I have in a while. This was my first time, and it surely won't be my last.

I have been going to Design One Salon off Plainfield consistently for a year now, and love it. I…read moreget my nails done by Shannon and she is EXTREMELY talented. Not only is she detail oriented and friendly, but she is also knowledgeable of the products she uses on all clients. I think this speaks volumes to the spa because if my nail tech can speak about the product it makes me more comfortable about what is being put onto my body. The physical space is well kept and clean, and I have not felt worried about catching a foot fungus from the tubs (I know that's a thing at other spaces). The only downside is scheduling, I feel like Design One is a bit understaffed unfortunately, so getting in can be a challenge. I always try to book far in advance to make sure I get what I need. Although, I know they do sometimes have walk in appointments. Other services offered here include hair cuts, make up, and massages. I have not gotten my hair or make up done here, but I have gotten a few massages. The spa portion is very calm, and I think they do a decent job with the services. The price is usually my hang up, so that's why I haven't gotten many massages. Overall a 4/5 stars for this spa. (Shannon is a 100000+/5 stars)

Got a call a couple hours later. My phone says it lasted only 2 minutes. During the two minutes I was interrupted and informed 6-7 times that the technician was very upset, she was very upset, apparently very very upset. I actually started to apologize. What?! I had a $50 failed manicure. A brief apology from THEM to ME, and a refund was all that was required. Pulling me into staff drama was highly unprofessional and inappropriate. How or why management selected to inform the technician re the manicure in a way that upset her so badly is entirely their fault/responsibility.

Alana is so efficient and that really matters when even a meticulously planned schedule starts to go sideways. Thank you, too, for touching up our flower girl and an aunt who weren't on the original docket. See? Cool, calm and talented! She was very affordable (I note because I chose to gift my bridal party their services instead of a "thing" and the grand total didn't break the budget but was so worth the price) and brought an awesome assistant with her. Book Alana early! You won't regret it.
