Our only issue was wasps, my girlfriend is allergic and there were 7 that we got rid of before the guy got there to vacuum the other live ones. The staff was very nice and I would definitely recommend this place if staying in the area. We looked at a couple other places and they were down right bland. We stayed here 4 nights since we were celebrating. Parking was easy and safe. The bed was comfortable and the cabin was very clean. The price was very reasonable and we were able to cook breakfast in the morning.

It was so nicely put together and the attention to details were definitely appreciated. The cabin came with everything you may need, while keeping it clean and organized. I loved the little touches like having puzzles and kid books in the loft. The touches of making it 'bird themed' were just enough, and didn't make you feel like you were in a Hitchcock movie. While this was a kid free weekend for us, we definitely could see it being perfect for a family as well. Everything was well maintained. Communication with the staff was fantastic and we were really able to unplug and unwind. If you do get antsy and want to go shopping or exploring, Lake Lure is just a short drive away. We would definitely stay here again.

Excellent stay! Second time at Asheville Cottaged and we cannot say enough about the experience. They think of everything to make your experience top notch! We arrived and were feeling a little snacky. No problem! The snack tree and variety of waters/soft drinks/juiced beverages in the fridge were welcome! We browsed the binder for suggestions on where to grab dinner. After dinner at White Duck Taco, we stopped Ingles for a few groceries. Of course, Tracie and Marshall made sure each cottage had an Ingels savings card to use! Need a battery? Under the kitchen sink. Ziplock bag? Yep..,check a drawer in kitchen. They think of everything you may need and have it on hand for you! Loved the soaking tub! Loved the heated bathroom floor. Loved heated toilet seat. Accidentally hit a button on the bidet in the middle of the night and got a little surprise rinse off. . The big surprises were seeing a few bears late one afternoon behind the cottage (Magnolia). Thankfully, we just sat quietly on the deck and they looked at us and took off for the woods. Overall, it was a great trip and on the flight home, I started to look at availability to come back for a girls trip later in the Fall with my sister and niece. But before I could book anything, Hurricane Helene severely impacted the area. My heart breaks for all the families who lost loved ones in this disaster. By finding them on social media to see if they were ok, I found out that thankfully Asheville Cottages did not sustain much damage due to their location. Since Asheville tourism is essentially stopped, Tracie and Marshall have graciously opened their cottages to local families who have been displaced by the hurricane as they still have electricity and water. They also are still paying their employees salaries during this time (as they did during Covid) - taking care of them like family. THIS is exactly the kind of small business that my husband and I are proud to support so we will be staying at Asheville Cottages next time we come to Asheville...whenever that can happen.

Views of sunrises, sunsets and mountains are captivating. This is a perfect place to escape for a special weekend, solo adventure, girls/guys night, or retreat. While there are 20 places to choose from, each one offers privacy. Some of the dwellings are extremely popular because of their incredible theming, so make sure to make your reservation as soon as possible. My husband and I booked our stay at Dragon's Knoll (think Middle-Earth and hobbits) 6 months out. We enjoyed the cozy home, all of the beautiful touches, the stunning views, and the stillness and peacefulness of the location. We have recently started a travel-inspired business (Reservations and Road Trips) and reached out to the owners. Mike (dad) and Justin (son) were so kind to us. They are passionate people who love what they do and the experiences they can provide. They are great communicators...Mike even called us from his vacation! Justin spent an hour with us giving us tours of the available homes. We are looking forward to going back to Earth and Sky Dwellings in the spring or summer...we can't wait to see their new event venue put to use!

We stayed at the "Phoenix" and, as a huge Star Wars fan, the amount of detail and thought put into this was incredible. Jere and Melissa, two of the owners, met us on site at check in and could not have been more friendly and accommodating. They welcomed us to the property and encouraged us to explore and check out the other dwellings that were on site. They also maintained constant contact after the storms had devastated that area, and we could tell they were dedicated to providing the best experience possible to both us and Asheville. They never faltered in accommodating us in the delays that the storms had caused. It was all worth the wait, the setting that they have created truly creates a magical getaway and the views were phenomenal. We are looking forward to our next opportunity to visit here and stay in one of the other fantastic homes that they have created. What an outstanding experience, and thank you to Jere and Melissa for being such wonderful hosts!

Truly divine experience, THE BEST vacation rental experience my husband and I have EVER had!…read moreStaying in the Cloud 9 home was like staying in a childhood home for the holidays or the warmth of staying with a beloved grandparent. The home is truly very well cleaned and maintained and keeps all of the charms that a loved one would keep in a family home. Each bedroom had a theme which just tugged at the heart to love it a little more. The master bed was spacious and has a hot tub on the back porch just steps from the room. We enjoyed it almost every night! The heating in the bathrooms is a real treat to keep it warm post shower. We found the kitchen to be fully stocked for last minute platters needed for holiday cookies or a container to serve a rotisserie chicken in. The array of cups and glasses was vast and my favorite find were the vintage soup mugs to use for morning oatmeal! The patio and sheltered outdoor dining area are excellent to use and so incredibly functional it put us in awe. We had dinner every night at sunset with our families in the covered dining area. The sunsets are truly exceptional and the outdoor and new dining area are prime viewing spots. We used the fire table and hot tub on a nightly basis. The deck is so functional, it still has me in awe. The whole home's functionality and flow is just fantastic and we could not have been blessed with a better home to spend the holiday visiting family. We stayed with two dogs one of whom is handicapped and unable to use her hind legs. The access to grass for the dogs and sheer joy they experienced laying out on the deck in the winter sun warmed our hearts and truly brought joy to our furbabies. Every afternoon they would lay in the outdoor dining area and watch the chickens graze like it was doggie tv. Just happily observing. The whole vibe, energy and love of Cloud 9 just fit with our vibe. Any leftover food went into a bag in the freezer we kept for the chickens to peck at. They have a list of what the local area recycles so we could place in the proper trashcans. This truly fit in with our family's practices and beliefs and was refreshing to be somewhere that embraced this. Hearing about the passive heating the father who designed the home employed in the building and experiencing the sun warming the home on crisp winter days was a special and joyful time. The light pouring into the home only added to the warmth and charm which had us head over heals in love with Cloud 9. I would not hesitate to return, recommend to anyone and certainly am happy with the value. Janet was a gracious, present and communicative host. We are so very very happy we chose to spend our Christmas at Cloud 9! P.S. At Christmas Janet assembles and decorates the cutest and most heartwarming tree in the family living room. It was gorgeous and made our stay that much more lovely and holiday themed.

Grab a cut open milk jug from the shack and get to picking. You might even see Janet working in the field like we did. Kind and extremely helpful, she gave my littlest a jug and pointed us in the right direction. It was a hot summer day so we didn't stay forever but we still managed to pick enough blueberries for pancakes, muffins and scones. Payment is by the honor system so bring your cash and dollar bills. An entire milk jug is $16 - I wouldn't know what to do with that many berries! We probably picked about 2 pints worth and gave $5 to the money jug. Next year I will pay more attention to when the raspberries ripen in early June.
