My boyfriend and I loved the family-owned feel of the place. Rita's husband was working the front desk as locals wandered in to congratulate Rita on her new place. Rita personally gave me a terrific therapeutic massage, complete with warm towels and hot stones. I left feeling relaxed and refreshed. It was also more affordable than any other massages in town. My massage therapist did a lot of light compression and what felt like poking at my muscle tissue, but definitely not the long superficial strokes that define a Swedish style massage. And when trying to end session pressing on my solar plexus point, he was way off the mark, somewhere in the ball of my foot. My daughter said she enjoyed most of her massage but for some reason the last ten minutes or so, her therapist started dong some really deep tissue work on her neck and shoulders and she woke up the next morning unable to turn her head with pain. His hand is bruised and swollen to the point he can't remove his ring. A verbal or written warning -- or better yet, a COVER -- could prevent injuries. Also, when we were checking out, the gal asked if we wanted to add a gratuity, which puts the customer in an uncomfortable spot to say yes/no and how much. Why not leave envelopes out for people to put cash in IF they choose to leave a tip, vs. having the employee ask the customer?
