We did the outdoor escape room experience and it was a lot of fun! I originally thought it was gonna be at the facility but they end up giving you a tablet and a backpack of gear and send you to Blue Jacket Park for it. (Super cool park) I thought it was a cool concept and I really enjoyed being outside for the day with the beautiful park and amazing weather that day. The only downside is that it isn't as immersive as a normal escape room. Everything is done on a tablet really and even though you're walking to different spots in the park, everything is really just a puzzle on the tablet. And sometimes the answers we'd put in would be right, but the tablet wanted it typed differently. A little annoying at times, but it's all a program so I get it. I would've liked a little more immersion with things in the real world. Almost like combining a geocache idea with an escape room. All in all, we had a great time and would definitely go back to try out the rooms too. We ended up finishing the room early and getting in the top 10 on the scoreboard too which was fun! read more

Our group did the Late Night Lock-In from midnight to 5am, and it was an absolute blast! The pricing was very reasonable considering you get to do 3 different rooms. The last room, Toxicity, was our favorite and the most intense. We were able to complete every room except Toxicity, but they told us almost nobody had escaped that room, which made us feel better. The staff are so friendly, and they even have a sweet rescue cat named Embers who lives at the business. It can be hard to find locally-owned escape rooms in Orlando, and this one is! I would highly recommend visiting and doing the Late Night Lock-In. read more

I have been to a few escape rooms around town and tonight's visit to A Harrowing Escape was by far my favorite! First of all, you might find it a little strange if you are required to wear socks, but I assure you, that means the room will be a lot of fun. Additionally, they have a "shop cat," so what's not to love... They even have a section of cat toys for you to play with the cat. The room itself was perfection... Obviously you can't get into details, but suffice it to say the set up was impeccable and the effects were fantastic and we left the room with four minutes to spare and a definite sense of euphoria! 4 Stars for a really fun escape room experience at a family-owned small biz! My sister got some Groupon deals for this biz for our family to do an outing now that we're all vaccinated. It was a bit complicated redeeming them online, so I called and Kayley helped me out. She was super friendly and got us sorted! When we arrived, we walked in (with masks- everyone wears masks inside, which is great) and immediately saw a cat! They have a shop cat that they rescued and he's very friendly. I'm allergic to cats, so I didn't touch him, but the masks kept me from getting itchy and once I removed my mask in the escape room, I was fine (I assume the kitty doesn't go in those rooms). We got checked in by scanning a QR code to sign a quick consent form. Bonus- if you include your email address in this form, you will get your photos sent to you (the ones they take of your group after you escape). We were led back to watch the intro video and get some basic instructions. One thing I wish they did was start you in the actual escape room with a video, because the screen showed 5 files of videos (one for each escape room) and it just really didn't feel immersive at that point. I've had that at other escape rooms and it really sets you in the scene and mood. We were then led down the hall to the escape room and the immersive experience began. We did The Woods, which is not an easy room at all. I won't give too much away, but we definitely needed a lot of clues throughout the escape room and, although we ultimately made it in time, I think some of it would be impossible to figure out without clues (not intuitive, and lots of red herrings that lead to nothing). With that being said, it was really fun and we had a great time. Overall, this is a great, family-owned option if you want to enjoy an escape room without having to head to I-Drive and go for a big company. read more

Wow I meant to write this review a while ago! I had never been to an escape room before and have been wanting to for a while. Hubs suggested we go with his sister and her husband. I looked around and found a groupon for this location that made it very reasonably priced. We booked a 5:30 time slot for the Doctor Lycan room so we could have dinner after. The staff was super friendly and helpful and we had a great time! They take group photos and text/email them to you which I really like. Apparently this location has a couple other rooms you can choose from also so all the more reason to visit again. It is really interesting (and harder than I thought!). We went there using a Groupon and were charged an extra $3.xx before we could book a reservation time. Then - surprise! - we learned we had to share the same game with three other people. So that's five of us in a room, and the game required flashlights. However they only supplied a few flashlights which the other team hogged. Thanks for that. The other team was very goal focused and did not seem to want us to play. For example, when we repeatedly asked for the black light, they were too busy to even let us have it. So basically we paid to be in the same room watching three other players try to solve the puzzle. Not so much fun. I don't recommend this place unless you pay the ADDITIONAL $40 for a private room, and that would totally not be worth it. read more

We barely made it out alive! With only under two minutes left my group just barely solved the riddles before us. This was my first escape room and I'd definitely go to more in the future. The puzzles were challenging enough to keep you intrigued, pushing you to really put your mind to it! Other than the few lights we had it was pretty dim in the room which I'm guessing was to put the pressure on. And of course it worked! But, I still wish there was slightly more lighting and the space was a little tight. So if you have a bigger group than 4 or 5 it will be harder to operate. FYI: They're named "A Harrowing Escape" now. My husband and I have done maybe 10+ escape rooms before and we were very pleased with this location: easy parking, clean, attentive, and friendly! I thought it was neat how they let you individualize your experience by allowing you to choose difficulty (number of clues/assistance) and scariness (jump scares). We also appreciate that they let you make your room private for no additional cost. The Doctor Lycan room was as described: a good room for first-timers or beginners. The room was also pretty large and I think would be suitable for a group of 3-5. I wish there was a smidge more light and was less reliant on flashlights/black lights. There's a nice rescue cat there as well (they ask you upon registering if you're allergic to cats). read more

A Narrow Escape is a family-owned small business that offers three different hour-long escape room game experiences at a local N Semoran Blvd location. I took five teenagers in February 2018 for the Doctor Lycan room and they enjoyed it a great deal. They are pretty smart 13 and 14 year olds and they went until the very last second before escaping. Challenging but fun they said with a few creepy moments that appropriately played into the "werewolf" theme of the room. The owner and her family are absolutely amazing and enthusiastic about seeing their customers have a great time. As of February 2018, they offer discounts for repeat customers (second visit: 10%, third visit: 15%). We will definitely return. Check it out and support this small business while enjoying some brain-busting entertainment! read more

Had an amazing time! Found this on groupon and decided to try out the Doctor Lycan mission. It was challenging and so much fun. There's a guide to help with hints when necessary, but half the fun is having no clue what you're doing. There were only six of us, so we were paired with two other guests - if you'd like a private room, you have to pay more (but it was fun working with them on the clues). The staff is very friendly and made sure we had the best time. Would highly recommend this escape room!! We have found a new family tradition!! read more

As a group, my friends and I have been to many escape rooms in the Orlando area and beyond. We ended up doing the "Lock-in" option for all of their rooms which entails a 10 pm-3 am time slot where you can finish all of the rooms. This is one of my favorite escape room locations in the greater Orlando area and the staff is immaculate. Every room is so well themed for the budget they were given and the puzzles are so well laid out and fit perfectly together. The last room "Toxicity" was one of the greatest rooms in Orlando by far. This new escape room is family owned and operated-they built it all themselves and did an amazing job. The employees are very nice and helpful. You will get more of a personal experience here than at the franchises and the high turnover style ones off of I Drive, where you are thrown together with people you don't know and rushed out the door to make way for the next group of way too many people crammed into a room together. This place is definitely worth the drive for both tourists and locals. All three rooms are great. My favorites were The Woods and Dr. Lycan. What I love about this place is the option for just a few dollars more to have a totally private experience without being paired with strangers. Getting straight into it, I write my reviews for constructive criticism only. I'll give as many details as I can recalling my experience. "A Narrow Escape" was offering a 50% discount, which I couldn't refuse. It was about forty-five minutes from the house, so we made the drive. We were a party of two, and due to the current situations, it was a private experience. We were required to call in to get the discount and pay over the phone. Not a problem, I had no issue with this. I was greeted by a young lady on the phone and explained that I saw the discount on their website. She acknowledged the cut in price, asked which game we would like to do, how many in the party, and personal information for the booking. She then asked if we wanted "Hands off or Supportive." Okay, I appreciate this factor. I hate when people just come over the microphone and assist when I'm already working on the puzzle. +1 on this question. The next question was what type of personality we would like. I can appreciate this too. This could make the experience more fun. Choices were the director, the riddler, or the ego. We chose the riddler. That way, the answer wasn't just blatantly given to us. We still had to think. This I was disappointed with, and I'll explain why later. The booking was made, and we were all set up. I got the first email, which showed a different total price than what was told to me on the phone. I called back and asked about it. She explained the booking system does not reflect the discount but the full price of the experience. I acknowledged and ended the call. Shortly after, I received the receipt from Square with the correct total. This could be fixed, so it doesn't confuse customers. Not a significant factor in my rating. Fast forward to arrival at the location. Easy to find, right off of Semoran, seemed to be a newer shopping center. Their building did seem small, and with three experiences, I knew the rooms were going to be small. We walked in, and a large party was already in of eight people, which filled the lobby for the most part. It took a few minutes for the girl to acknowledge our arrival, and she asked for us to sign waivers. The tablet was the same one she was using and was not "COVID" friendly. Sharing tablets and not being cleaned is going to cause concern for others. The waiver signing system could be better. We signed the waiver, and we then waited. We were told to arrive 15 to 20 minutes early, and we had to wait for the entire 20 minutes, which was annoying. I felt like they could have used this time better. Go ahead and have us put our stuff away, interact with your guests, start immersing them into the experience. Instead, it was a TV with corny riddles and jokes, pictures of the owners and college degrees they have, and a bunch of carnival hats all over the lobby wall. The lobby was confusing and not themed, really at all. Quickly assembled and very little thought put into it--one out of five in the lobby. Once they were ready for us, she had us put our cell phones in the locker and any other things we wanted to stow away. We then walked down the hall to the end to a random TV that played the story line for us. Again, no theming to the chosen storyline. Video was very basic and the graphics were below average. The actual story was okay, if you're into Zodiac Signs and Astrology. Once the video was over, we went into the experience. The game master was dry, not themed to the experience, and was just ready to go back to the control room. She pointed out not to touch any of the real wood, don't touch any red locks, or electrical outlets. Okay, lets stop there for a moment. Design your rooms so this is not even a topic. No reason why you could not have taken the extra time to theme the outlets to be hidden, to hide your maintenance areas, and to make your room as immersive as possible. The timer was bulky and generic. We entered, told us good luck, and the timer counted down from ten to start. Initial impression of room one was "Meh". Again, very rushed and not really a lot of thought put into it. Camp fire was a prop from Spirit Halloween, a portable potty tent used to look like a camping tent, due to the size of the room, and just random branches laying around the room. The cabin's porch was a cool idea. The lightning effect was not even hidden whatsoever. Again, a Halloween prop purchased from Spirit Halloween. I won't disclose any puzzles, nor any other props that could ruin the experience. Once you make your way into the next room, you're greeted by a projector to impersonate a fire inside the fireplace... come on guys! You're killing me with the props and decor! Props were heavily worn and torn from use. No upkeep or redesign to keep the rooms "fresh". Repairs are certainly needed. Notes and books heavily worn and hard to read in the lighting. I could keep going but I maxed out the details. Two out of five. read more

We found out about this place earlier this year, and we have been excited to give them a try, since all we see everywhere are perfect reviews for them. A few months ago we saw that they were offering a Groupon for 2 of their rooms, so we snatched them up instantly! Our family just came to town and we headed down to give them a try. They are easy to find and easy to get to, they have plenty of parking, the building is nice and clean, and the employees are all super friendly and super helpful. I don't want to give away any spoilers about the actual rooms, as it seems like they put a lot of effort into them. Both of the rooms were a little challenging, even for seasoned escape room enthusiasts, but for the most part, we enjoyed both of the rooms (Dr Lycan & The Woods). There were a couple of puzzles in each of the rooms, that felt really forced, that we weren't really fond of, but, despite those, we still found the experience to be enjoyable, and yes, we would probably recommend them to other players. read more
