We…read morearrived around 5:30pm (check in was at 4:00pm) and getting into our treehouse was very easy as they use keyless entry. The treehouses are very cute and are just like the pictures. A few things to know before you go, bring your own firewood. Firewood was $15 per bundle and burned super fast. You will need to go down to the welcome center to get it. The welcome center is listed as open 7 days a week from 9-5 which unfortunately was not the case. It was already closed when we arrived on Saturday as it was after 5pm, was not open Sunday, and was not open when we attempted to go in before checking out on Monday around 10am. We had attempted to go to the welcome center to get an extra wine glass as our treehouse only had one. After texting the number that sent the codes, we were able to get a new glass awhile later in the day. The treehouse was very clean and put together aside for two stains on the pillows in the main bedroom and the wine cork screw missing the screw piece. There are 3 community hot tubs which we did not use but appeared clean and well maintained (maintenance was cleaning the area Sunday morning). Overall, the treehouses offer an excellent and unique experience. We would visit again. My only wish it that firewood was included and communication was easier considering the high cost of the stay.

However, the $145 cleaning fee for just two nights felt a bit steep. That said, we loved the experience so much that we ended up adding a third night! The cedar treehouse was cozy and charming, with a peaceful setting that really made the trip worthwhile. One thing to note--the driveway was very steep, so just be prepared for that when you arrive. The charcoal grill wasn't very conveniently located in relation to the cedar treehouse, but they did provide just enough charcoal and lighter fluid, which was helpful. A few downsides: they only provided one small bottle of shampoo and conditioner, which was frustrating since we left ours at home expecting the amenities to be fully stocked. The water was also quite cloudy, which might be an issue for some guests. We only received two trash bags, so we had to improvise with Walmart bags toward the end of our stay. Firewood is $15 on-site, but we opted to grab some at Walmart for $8 instead. On a positive note, they offered a military discount, which we really appreciated. Despite the few minor inconveniences, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely consider coming back--just with our own toiletries and a few extra supplies next time.

We've gone two years in a row (2024 and 2025) and even between the years it seems that there is more to offer. Plan to be there all day, especially if you have small children. There is so much for them to do, climb, and explore which is nice so you can enjoy your drink while they play. All the kids areas are secure too so you won't lose them or worry about them falling down the mountain. Our kids LOVE the slide and birdhouse climbing area. There's a stage for live entertainment close by which we really enjoyed. Lots of food options all over however we really enjoy the lookout mountain restaurant and you have to get ice cream for dessert afterwards. Transportation up the mountain is either by their Ridge Rambler (open bus with no windows so dress accordingly) or the skyline with both open and closed cars (runs really slowly and usually a LONG line). I highly recommend purchasing your tickets online in advance because even though that option is available, many do not opt for it and would rather stand in a VERY LONG line to purchase tickets and then get in line for the skyline. If you purchase in advance and opt to ride the bus like we do, wait time is very minimal and you can bypass most of the line which is a huge plus. (also, the waiting area is by 2 private restrooms in case you need to go before boarding). Even though it's busy, everything is so spread out that it's not crowded which is super nice. Plan to take a backpack to carry items as you will stay on the mountain and it's not easy to go back and forth to the car (could but will take time), plus, it's nice to have in case it's chilly and hot later so you can store clothing layers. Currently, Anakeesta is closed until March for remodels and they've shared ideas and things to come which all look like great additions. We can't wait to go again this fall 2026 to enjoy all the new amenities. Highly recommend for all ages!

The facility itself was exactly what we expected it to be - a rustic lodge overlooking some beautiful mountain views. The wedding definitely turned out to be memorable, and that is the important thing! The only "challenge" with this venue is the next-door neighbors, who clearly have issues living in proximity to a commercial resort. This was made evident by the posted signs viewable from the rear balconies whereby the neighbors indicated something about the need for guests to keep noise down and be respectful because people live here, etc. Well ... these same neighbors were plainly resentful of the fact that normal party music was played at the wedding reception (music that properly ended at 10:30 pm) and were intent on underscoring the point by BLARING loud outdoor radio music until 2:30 AM and then starting up again at 5:30 AM so as to disturb the guests' ability to sleep. Needless to say, my wife and I were happy to leave this establishment bright and early the next morning. I get it, and it should come to no one's surprise, there are a few "Hatfield and McCoy"-types up in 'dem 'der hills. However, I do believe the resort has some obligation to deal with this problem in a meaningful way, for the benefit of all prospective guests.

God's creation should always receive 5+ stars, but places like this really ruin the experience. We rented Wet N' Wild mainly for the indoor pool and sauna. What a huge disappointment. The decorations were cute but for the love of Pete it looks like they have not dusted in years. If you are not going to clean, then do not have so many decorations. The dishes were dirty/dusty that we washed things before we even used them. Even though there are signs saying to keep the place nice, respect the visitors after you. What about us? I guess we did not matter. The hot tub was cold, the sauna had dead bugs, mold was on the wall in the indoor pool area. The privacy wall was broken by the hot tub, the railing on the deck on both levels is separating as well as a very loose railing going down the steps to the lower level. Safety issues you would think. On the first night we called and mentioned all these things and they came the next day and fixed the hot tub and dusted a picture that hung over the bed. (Eyeroll). We were gone for the day but when we returned it was 85 degrees in our cabin and the air stopped working and you cannot open the windows. So, I guess if we wanted a heated hot tub, we were not allowed to have air. We followed the directions to lower the temp only three degrees at a time, but nothing ever happened, so we called. She said that someone would call us and come fix the AC. We waited till about 1:00am. It was so hot it was worth staying up so we could sleep comfortably. No call no show. For the amount of money we paid for 2 nights with the $150 cleaning fee! What a Joke! I was never so glad to leave the next day. DO NOT RENT A CABIN HERE!

We very much enjoyed our stay and went in knowing this was a cabin in the woods and not our house which helped with our expectations. We would definitely stay here again.

Bug-Infested Rental House…read more Ayres rented us a house located at 1140 Lightning Bug Way called "Mountain House," outside Gatlinburg TN, from June 30 until July 7, 2022. When we arrived, everything looked fine. But by the next morning we started seeing hundreds of caterpillars creeping into the house from what appeared to be improperly sealed doors and windows. We vacuumed them up, thinking it might have been a one-time event. But the caterpillars kept coming by the thousands over the week we were there. We vacuumed them constantly, and they still kept coming and coming and coming. We complained to Ayres, first by using the form they sent for arriving renters. We received no response. We later began sending texts and making phone calls, also with no response or no return call. I finally sent a strongly worded text to the number we were given for issues after my grandnieces became frightened of all the bugs in the house. Ayres finally responded and said they would send someone immediately. The person they sent did nothing more than duct tape the edges of some, but not all, of the doors and windows and then left. This "remedy" did nothing to stop the bugs. So I complained yet again and sent several photographs showing the very large number of caterpillars inside the house. On our last full day of vacation, Ayres sent a pest control company that sprayed. This left hundreds of dead bugs inside the house. No one came to try to remove the carcasses. We never received an apology, much less an offer of any kind of refund. The purpose of this vacation trip was to reunite us with our nephew and his wife and our grandnieces after the pandemic. Instead of being a fun trip to the mountains, we were forced to live inside a bug-infested home with Ayres being at first unresponsive and then unwilling to take the full measure of steps to eliminate the insects infesting this home. In short, it was a nightmare for my grandnieces, whose parents decided to leave early rather than subject them to rooms full of bugs.

To start, the door access code did not work as provided. I proceeded to call for support and after several minutes of on hold was able to talk with a representative. She was able to get us inside with a series of override codes. However, when we were inside there was a smoke detector going off. I still had the representative on the phone so she was able to contact a maintenance technician to come and assist. The maintenance man arrives, and after basic checks was told from his dispatch to call the Fire Department for further investigation. The fire department arrives and inspects the property for any gas or CO but concludes the issue lies with the detector being faulty. We were told this property could not be rented and we would need to move locations. At this point it was close to 11 PM and we have to unpack everything from the house and reload the vehicles while the alternative property is identified. The representative provided 2 options, of which we chose the Chestnut Mountain Lodge property. We were thankful for the option to be relocated in the middle of the night, however upon arrival to the alternative accommodation we were sadly presented with a far inferior property, of which we would never have rented or spent the time driving for this vacation, and left the property a day early due to the severe disappointment. It is hard to comprehend how the Chestnut Mountain Lodge is considered rentable for anything other than a college fraternity party, let alone a family vacation. The differences between these two properties, although similar in square footage, were so much that I feel significant compensation should be provided given the compounding issue since stepping foot on the first property. Discussions with a supervisor on 5/11 resulted in an offer for a $200 voucher for another stay at a Cabins for You property. This would only cause more costs for us to make another 5 hr trip, of which we have no intention to do. The next offer was a $300 Visa card, which in no way provides a way to replenish our bank account for the lost $1,800 for our initial reservation. The worst part of all of this is the runarounds and excuses why a refund cannot be given. In my experience in property management and customer services, Cabins for You needs a major overhaul in their management, and I will be sure to provide honest reviews and feedback on other platforms, allowing potential vacationers to be warned before booking a reservation with Cabins for You.

Our table provided a scenic overlook through the trees. I wish that I remembered our waiter's name, but he was phenomenal and extremely knowledgeable. (I do remember he was from Southern Indiana). My wife had the petit 7-ounce filet (wet-aged Iowa Premium USDA beef tenderloin, center cut, fresh-cracked black pepper and kosher salt) and a Caesar Salad. Her steak was cooked perfectly and she really enjoyed her Caesar salad and the twice baked potato as her side. I had the New York Strip (dry-aged Iowa Premium USDA prime short loin with the bone. Fresh-cracked black pepper and kosher salt), and a chopped salad (chopped baby greens, tomato, pickled onion, artichokes, cucumbers, hard boiled eggs and citrus herb vinaigrette.) The steak melted in your mouth and the salad was fresh with a delicious citrus herb vinaigrette dressing. My side was the asparagus which again, was very delicious and cooked perfectly (I could have had another serving!) They also served some very tasty hot and buttery spoon bread which was very close to the original recipe that was created near my home in Berea, KY. Between the salad and the main course, we were served a lemon sorbet as a pallet cleanser. For dessert, my wife had the crème brûlée and I had the butterscotch budino. Both were very tasty, but personally for me, the butterscotch budino was a tad better -- but you cannot go wrong with either. We don't drink, but there was a great wine menu and over 100 different bourbon selections. We will definitely return again. Reservations are highly recommended!
