Being educated from a third-party is better than trying to learn from your own parents. For mental reasons, the third-party instruction is more forgiving to your child. Their prices are comparable to most, but by far, are more advanced than other courses around us. Their driving instructors are also law enforcement officers still serving or retired. In my opinion, if the instructor is instigating and escalating a hostile driving environment, using bullying tactics while in a position of authority over minors, it's time to find other employment. I called and left an angry parent message and the office called me back and was very polite and a couple days later the owner called and said he'd look into the situation and took the incident very seriously. Several other driving schools were not answering calls in Tacoma so we found 1st Avenue. The ladies answering calls have always been friendly and informative. I called several times to confirm info and they were always patient with me. When we went in to take the test, everyone was friendly. Sean failed the written the first time but took the second time for no extra cost and passed. We practiced on our own using the DOL videos on what to practice. We practiced for three days and he took the driving test here and passed with 95%. Everyone was friendly this time also. They have adapted to Covid protocols very well with seating arrangements and sanitizers throughout. It's understandable Sean had to use their car, that's probably the law as far as I know. The car was basic enough for him to see everything. I see another review where someone had difficulty seeing the speedometer. That's very unlikely in these basic Ford cars. Plus my husband is Asian and not an excellent driver in my opinion, but good enough to follow laws and drive safely. So if he can pass, I guarantee it's possible for others! Sean and I were very happy with this school and recommend it. Excellent prices as well.

Received one call and I called them back and left message. No return call, I sent them proof of only one call from them and they said I needed to cancel 72 hours before class and that they lost out on a seat when I didn't. Hard to do when the class started less than 15 hours after I signed up. I emailed them back it was a simple mistake and they refused to move my daughter to the May 14 start date and took my $99 deposit. Truly unbelievable, I have their crappy responses via email if anyone is curious.

I would strongly recommend taking your beginner riding course somewhere else…read more I paid $380 for the Beginner Riding Course because the description clearly stated that no previous riding experience was required, aside from having the proper gear. I expected a course designed for true beginners, but that was not my experience. On the first day, I had some difficulty with certain exercises, which I think is normal for a beginner, but I never crashed, fell, or dropped the bike. Multiple other students did. On the second day, I dropped the bike once and was immediately asked to leave. I received no refund, credit, make-up session, or transfer for the portion of the course I could no longer complete. The instructor later told me I needed to practice on my own and essentially pay to take the beginner course again. When I asked whether the second day I had already paid for could transfer over, she said no and called the course an "investment." I agree that training is an investment, which is exactly why I paid for professional beginner instruction in the first place. Being told to gain experience on my own before retaking a course advertised as requiring no previous experience made no sense to me. I also felt singled out during the course. The instructor repeatedly asked whether I was a software engineer and said she would explain things differently if I were because software engineers supposedly think in black-and-white terms. Afterward, I noticed many other reviews from women who said they also felt singled out or treated differently. I came away feeling similarly, including because of my gender and race. I can't speak to anyone's intentions, but that was genuinely my experience. I also saw multiple reviews describing the course as a "scam" or saying the company seemed more focused on money. After being removed after one mistake, receiving no credit or refund, and being told to practice independently and pay again, I understand why people feel that way. I felt the same. Beginner riders are going to make mistakes. I would have learned much more by being allowed to safely get back on the bike, understand what I did wrong, and try again. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else for your motorcycle training.

I also do not like tests of any kind. I called the school and they answered all my questions, told me what I would need to take the written exam. They were clear about all fees and cancellations and responsibilities of the individual who wanted to attend. I took the written exam with them and thankfully passed. I then practiced driving at home during the pandemic and when I got my shots this year went back and scheduled driving practice with them to make sure I was doing everything I was supposed to while driving. Ms. Tanya was polite and direct about what I needed to remember to do while driving. I passed my driving test and honestly grateful for their services. Ms. LaTonya and Staff are very nice people. They know that they are preparing you to do something that is helpful in life but is a big responsibility. So they take their jobs very seriously.
