They are very unprofessional on their phone during class, complain they are tired so text your parents to pick up early but then if student is late it has to be made up. Their communication sucks after you pay them their money. The instructor talked crap about my husband and I to our daughter multiple times. She was on her cell phone during one of my daughter's drives. They don't teach but rather show videos and have the students use torn up old books. Their car literally has a piece of plywood they hang out the truck with rope. We made an appointment for paper test and they were 30-45 min late and gave me attitude and instead of apologizing said "yea we went to lunch late." I would never recommend this school. read more

I am a senior citizen who has been recovering from a broken leg and hadn't driven a vehicle for six months. I felt I was ready to drive again, but my family encouraged me to take an on-road test before doing so. I started calling around and A+ was the only school that even answered my phone call. They agreed to come in an hour before their opening hours to accommodate me. I was a little nervous, but they were so courteous and kind, and put me completely at ease. They gave me the most thorough and complete test you could possibly imagine. I not only learned a lot that will make me a safer driver; I also regained confidence in my ability to drive safely. What a gift! I recommend them highly to any senior citizen in a similar situation, or who simply needs to brush up on their driving skills. read more

The lady that did the drivers test was very unprofessional and failed my son for making a proper left turn, getting "too close" to a car on a very narrow road with almost nowhere to go and for for stopping at a stop sign. So before I give my review understand that for medical reasons I have not driven for about 19 years and after surgeries and medications I am in a better position health wise and can drive again. I also do not like tests of any kind. I called the school and they answered all my questions, told me what I would need to take the written exam. They were clear about all fees and cancellations and responsibilities of the individual who wanted to attend. I took the written exam with them and thankfully passed. I then practiced driving at home during the pandemic and when I got my shots this year went back and scheduled driving practice with them to make sure I was doing everything I was supposed to while driving. Ms. Tanya was polite and direct about what I needed to remember to do while driving. I passed my driving test and honestly grateful for their services. Ms. LaTonya and Staff are very nice people. They know that they are preparing you to do something that is helpful in life but is a big responsibility. So they take their jobs very seriously. read more

A major stress reduction - you can take your driving test with your driving teacher. Driving class is $425, held 2x per week for about 2 months. The price includes 6 required drives and 1 observation drive. They accept credit cards. The husband and wife team that run A+ are efficient and friendly. Scheduling was easy and accommodating. After insisting that it was required by law that my daughter take her exam in their car (at a $20.00 additional charge, of course), they failed her because she drove under 25 mph in a neighborhood with speed bumps every 100 feet. Oh, and the kicker? After she was failed, they said that she could certainly pay more to take some driving lessons from them! When it was confirmed by the Department of Licensing that the "use our car" requirement was bogus, they refused a refund and lied about the condition of her car. Want to waste your hard earned money paying for a test you're guaranteed to fail without first paying for lessons from these scammers? Go here. If I could give a 0 star rating, I'd give multiple 0s. I've never been so disappointed in a business before, and it feels like that's what they set out to do. They will cancel appointments and then charge you for them, they don't show up on time for appointments but wait hours/even days to reply to messages asking where they are. Completely unprofessional, save your money and time and go somewhere where they take their jobs seriously. 10/10 don't recommend to anyone. The instructors for this driving school don't seem to care about the pandemic going on. During my last drive one of the instructors had her mask off for almost the whole drive, she was talking on the phone, and eating food, and I was very uncomfortable. I decided to wait until I got my vaccine to take my LAST drive to finish the class. After I got my vaccine I called the school and they told me I was marked incomplete because I didn't finish my last practice drive in time. The lady on the phone simply laughed and said "no" when I told her I needed to wait to take my last drive until I got my vaccine. During the class the instructors were rude and made me feel stupid for asking simple questions. They don't like to repeat themselves. I am getting refunded only $100 after wasting $500 on this school. They have horrible communication skills and like to take your money. read more

These women are malicious frauds. They told us when we signed up that they pick up for drives at my daughter's school - they even wrote it on our paperwork, but after we paid and came to the first class, they said they do NOT pick up at that school. They scheduled things in a completely unreasonable manner, often scheduling drives two days apart, but the kids are supposed to have three hours of practice between drives...how? They berated my daughter, screamed at her during drives, turned the radio on loudly during training drives, and when my mother went in to sort out a scheduling issue, they got IN HER FACE and SCREAMED at her and then threatened to call the police. They then told my child to 'GET THIS WOMAN OUT OF HERE'. They told my daughter that she was kicked out of the school because they didn't want to deal with her family (My mother was calm and polite). So now we have paid $450 for classes and a driver's test and we have nothing to show for it. Do NOT go here. They are rude, disorganized, and fraudulent. In addition, they told my daughter that if we wrote a bad review, she was banned from entering their building ever again. Terrible. read more

This place is TRASHHHH. They work on their time, only, so know if you have an appointment they don't care and will keep you waiting or double book themselves or show up late. I made appointments each time I had to come here, which means I should've never spent more than 20 minutes here, but I was always here for hours waiting on them. They are rude and have the "me first" mentality. I finished my written test within 20 minutes but had to wait for another girl (who took an entire hour) which pushed back my behind the wheel test. I didn't pass the first behind the wheel test for some bologna reason (for them to be able to get more money from me) so the next day I could take it was a week later. I paid and scheduled it before I left and watched her write it on the calendar. Be prepared to wait, even if you have an appointment. Tonya showed up late with a pizza box in her hand almost every day I scheduled something. I showed up for my behind the wheel test, which had already been paid for with no one in the building. The phone number is office number so of course nobody answered, I waited for almost 2 hours before they finally rolled up with pizza in hands and gave me this bullshit story of their niece stealing their personal car and crashing it and they had to wait for AAA, so then why the pizza box? They halfass apologized, but it wasn't even tonya who apologized, it was her man. All tonya could say to me was she didn't want to do the test that day. So I wait another 40 minutes while they refuse to give me the test and give me theit sob story. The man says he couldn't find my number, which was on the calendar he said he checked before they left to tell me they needed to reschedule. They should've given me a refund and let me take the test for free, but they just rescheduled me for another day. I come in the next day, which is my rescheduled appointment and they've double booked! My drive test and this kid's behind the wheel training. The kid is panicking too because he has work right after, but they take me first which means this kid was late to work. Their attitude and pricing is so not worth it. Please run as far away as you can from this place and go to ANY OTHER DRIVING SCHOOL. when I finally passed the test that day tonya told me she didn't have time to put my numbers in until the next day so I couldn't even go get my license that day. Stop and Read before giving them your money. A+ Driving School in Tacoma has only 3 instructors. 1 male and 2 females all who fail to properly identify themselves by name. All who have other jobs and are not 100% committed to your child's safety and learning experience. -My complaints are- *They don't submit to the DOL office for the permit waivers until 2wks after they start classes. *They don't tell you that you have to go to the DOL office and pay $25.00 to obtain/pick up the drivers permit. *Students learn and self teach themselves from a TV screen in their office. *No direct teacher to student interaction. *All staff members are rushed and have bad attitudes. *They consider displaying patience for students as "babysitting". *False advertising, their websites states $500. covers 6 drive sessions. But when you go in your told 3 of those drive session must be with the parent first and the other 3 drive session will be with them. *Poor student to staff ratio for drive times. If you don't schedule your drive times before they are booked out they will tell you that you have to pay for the drive sessions again. *Drive times are not guaranteed any though you paid for it. *Poor vehicle maintenance. *They have students using older model vehicles with manual column shifter for practice drives. This was the worst experience for my son and me. I do not recommend using them. They are a scam and are liars.  They are taking advantage of their situation.  They will not teach you or your teenager to be a good driver. They over charge and are cheap. Even though she has taken my $600.00check for the class and $100.00 check for a missed drive, she would not take a check for $10.00 for my son's certification of completion. She took a card, but charged and extra $3.00. You would think the certification would come with the class?   She is extremely rude. She is always on her phone during the drives. When my son took the knowledge test, he said the test was hard to read because of poor print quality and hard for him to concentrate. While on hold with a credit card company, the instructor had her phone on speaker while the testers were taking the test. My son was told that he got eight wrong and the ninth one is kind of right and kind of wrong so, they will count it as wrong. Six of the seven kids failed and were told to call back on Monday to schedule a retest, which would cost $45.00. I called to talk about the 9thquestion being kind of right and kind of wrong and they denied it. I asked to review the missed questions and they would not let me. We went to 911 driving school. They were a dream. My son took the test successfully in a quiet environment with questions that he could read and the fees that were less. We were looking for a convenient location close to our sons school and our home so our son could take drivers ed. This fit the bill. Teachers were firm but fair. Taught our son the rules of the road. We read some reviews that stated their kids did not get enough training but there is only so much that can be taught within the timelines of the class. We were diligent about getting our son behind the wheel. We had home drive on the freeway to eastern Washington for 3 straight outs on server occasions both during the day and night. Additionally we had him out daily running errands with us. We feel that together with our encouragement and A+ driving school our son is now a safe and licensed driver. He also used his own car for his final. There only stipulation is it needs to be in complete working order all lights and signals need to work and no cracked windshield. This is the same rules as DMV. read more

Great Driving school. I've had a child attend 911 driving school and A plus. My daughter always came home talking about how much fun she had and how Ms. Latonya made her feel comfortable at A plus. The one that went to 911 always complained of how nervous the instructor made her and that she didn't want her license anymore. Don't want to slander no one but my kids being comfortable and safe are important to me. Besides A plus is about $250 cheaper for better service! Thanks A plus!! read more

Great place :) very easy compared to other driving schools and teachers young drivers just about everything they need to know.

Though the price for this class is less than other driving schools in the area, it is still overpriced at $425 for students to sit in a room and read a book. The 6 actual drives that are included in the price are supposed to be one hour each and many times my daughter was "done" with her drive earlier than an hours time AND, if your child arrives 5 minutes late for a scheduled drive, they must pay a $50 fee and reschedule, no exceptions. When my child forgot, I had no problem with that fee, she never forgot again, but when she caught the right bus to get there in time and arrived 9 minutes late because of the bus driver and still had to reschedule and pay $50, that seems like a problem. If she was scheduled for an hour drive, where did the driver's instructor need to go in such a hurry? Perhaps they could have given her credit for showing up on time all the other times and receiving less than an hour drive for this lapse of four minutes. #great, responsible kid in tears. read more
