Back in 1998, when I was trying to purchase a house, I needed help repairing and improving my credit. That's when I met an incredible team at Second Chance Financial -- John, Karen, and Wayne. From the very beginning, they treated me with kindness, honesty, professionalism, and genuine care. Thanks to their help and guidance, I was able to buy my home back in 1998. Now, 28 years later, I find myself reaching out to them again for assistance, and to my surprise and gratitude, Karen and Wayne are still there. That alone says so much about the dignity, integrity, and stability of this company. It shows not only how they value their clients, but also how they treat and respect their employees. What always made them different is that they never treated me like "just another client." Over the years, they would occasionally call simply to check on me and see how I was doing. That level of humanity and compassion is very rare today. If anyone needs honest and trustworthy help with their credit, I truly recommend Second Chance Financial. These are good people who genuinely care about helping others rebuild and move forward in life. Thank you, Karen. Thank you, Wayne. And may God bless the memory of John, who is no longer with us. Your kindness and help will never be forgotten.

I paid funds that were intended to be remitted to the California Franchise Tax Board (FTB), and I received written confirmation from Alfred acknowledging receipt of that payment (which I documented via screenshot). Weeks later, I began receiving past-due notices from the FTB stating that no payment had been applied. After contacting the FTB directly, they confirmed they had no record of payment. Despite my documented proof that the funds were received, I was given repeated assurances from Alfred and team over several months that the issue was being handled, yet I was never provided a claim reference number or documentation confirming that payment had been made despot me asking multiple times. As the FTB deadline approached, Alfred told me my funds would be sent "Thursday or Friday," even though the deadline was that Saturday, leaving virtually no margin for error. When that deadline arrived, Alfred sent an email citing a family emergency along with an unsolicited photo showing a bleeding head injury as reason he couldn't send my requested funds back. I found this inappropriate and unrelated to resolving a business matter involving tax funds and a state deadline. Ultimately, it was only after I clearly stated I would proceed with legal action and formal reporting that the funds were finally returned, allowing me to pay the FTB directly and avoid further penalties. It should not require this level of escalation to resolve a tax payment issue. Alfred is very charismatic, which initially builds trust. However, based on my experience, I strongly encourage anyone considering this firm to reconsider. Note: I was repeatedly referred to as a "VIP client," which created an expectation of professionalism and priority handling that was not reflected in how this matter was ultimately addressed This situation was prolonged, unnecessarily stressful, and avoidable.

Often times, when we are low on money is when we need a service like what Chris provides. And that's also when emotions will run high. So please communicate with him often to not only manage your emotions but also to chime into logic. Definitely would recommend Chris and Speedy Credit Repair. Just communicate and everything will be good. He and I are talking still to this day and plan on working together on different projects moving forward. We understand coming into this it's a possibly our credit issue may not be fixed. We know this will take time. But one thing this company lacks is integrity. They are not true to their word. If you say something such as "I will call you back", please carry out your promise. All I asked for was communication. During this entire process, I only spoke with Chris 2 times. I called, no one answered I texted, no one answered You email Chris, no response He has an assistant Laurie who will respond to emails. She mentioned in my last email " Yes, Chris knows you are expecting a call" guess what? He never called me back!!! Chris said he will contact his lawyer associate and stated " I will call you back and give you an update" guess what? He never called back. They have you enrolled in a credit monitoring program which you have an additional fee. They probably get some sort of incentive. I can go on and on... there's has been so many occasions. Honestly, don't waste your time and money!!!!!!

Despite no filing, I was later told that the firm had "earned" more than my retainer through internal billing. After cancelling services, I received only a partial refund described as a "courtesy," which is difficult to justify given that the primary service I hired them for was never completed. A significant portion of the billed work appeared to be administrative tasks (emails, portal updates, routine follow-ups) charged at high hourly rates. The process felt unnecessarily drawn out, with little progress toward actually filing the case. When I raised concerns, the response was dismissive and lacked transparency. I strongly recommend that anyone considering this firm ask very detailed questions about how time is billed, what work is actually being done, and how long the process should realistically take. Based on my experience, the cost did not match the outcome.

Long story short, I got a call from Borowitz & Clark - the receptionist was very nice and friendly and transferred me to the lawyer. Not sure if it was Borowitz or Clark - but they answered the phone very rudely - basically made me feel like "what the hell you want" - I explained my situation and he proceeded to tell me I do not qualify for Chapter 13 - even though 5 other law firms all said I can file it without an issue - he proceeds to be narcissistic and say "I don't care what other attorneys have told you I have over 30 years of experience and I won bankruptcy attorney of the year..." and went on a rant - I cut him off by saying "so you can't help me?" - he proceeded to bash me further so I hung up.... This guy is full of himself and someone who is going through bankruptcy should not have to deal with narcissistic cold soul-less individuals who make them feel terrible, no one wants to go through bankruptcy and trying to bash me for it and say you're the best attorney out there and that I'm out of "options" - is insane. I called another attorney who was very friendly and willing to look into my case and understood my situation with a warm heart. Thank God for Yelp - this individuals need to get a reality check, sorry if you're having a bad day but don't take it out on me.

From February 23 to April 21, I trusted the process and was very clear from the beginning that money was not the problem. I even told them I was willing to pay extra if they could work faster and actually get results. At first, they told me I did not need to pay off my credit cards or balances for the process to work. Later on, they changed their advice and told me that if I paid off the accounts, the disputes would move faster and have a better chance of success. I followed their recommendation and paid off the accounts hoping to finally see results, but even after doing that, I still did not receive any meaningful improvement. Instead of offering a faster or more effective solution, they placed me into a monthly payment program and kept telling me to wait. Communication was also very slow, especially from the owner, who would take a long time to respond to my messages and concerns. During the entire process, they claimed they filed disputes multiple times, but I never saw any positive results. In fact, my credit situation became worse instead of improving. After almost two months of waiting, I was eventually told that I should just cancel the service because they were not getting results.I feel disappointed because I spent time, money, and trusted their promises during an important time when I needed my credit fixed urgently. Based on my experience, there was a lack of urgency, communication, and effective dispute strategy. I would strongly recommend others ask for clear proof of work, realistic expectations, and actual progress before signing up.

Feeling financially stuck? Overwhelmed with credit card debt? High interest rate loans…read moresuffocating any progress? Insomnia? 6 months ago I was staying up all night worried about my family's financial future. I felt like I was going to have a heart attack or stroke from the stress. So, how did we get to this point? Business was affected by Covid. My wife was laid off so our income was slashed in half. Started racking up credit card debt. Paying the minimum. Then, there was the financial burden of taking care of elderly parents. I tried debt consolidation but it would take multiple years to pay down the overwhelming mountain of debt compounding like a pounding headache of misery. I felt trapped in a circle of debt, barely getting by month to month with cost of living going up. Then I met with Michael to pick his brain and discuss my options. Our best strategy was to file for chapter 7 bankruptcy. To get a fresh start. This was the best choice for us. Highly recommend talking to Michael and Tamara to just review your options. Worst case at least you will have some clarity of what solutions are out there. Michael held our hands and walked us through everything. Tamara does most of the heavy lifting. She is amazing. Much respect to Tamara's patience and diligence. She told us exactly what was necessary to file so the process was easy and smooth. I spent many hours to get all my docs in order per her request. So, dont be lazy and get your stuff in order. John is the confident lawyer. Straight shooter. Decades of experience with the trustees. Highly recommend a lawyer to file instead of trying to do it yourself. 4 months later. Discharged over $200K of debt. Now I can sleep at night like a baby. Thank you so much to FCC. I feel like I got a second chance. God bless America for having a system that allows qualified debtors to get a "fresh start". Much gratitude.
