I'm sorry for the man who had the terrible experience. Mine was good, although quite a while ago…read more I was almost nine months pregnant and having symptoms of a pelvic blood clot; I knew that because I was a science journalist. However, no on would listen to me, not my GP, not my gyno, not the ER; I was assured that it was just "discomfort" from the pregnancy. It was wasn't discomfort, and I could not walk; pressure on my pelvic girdle was too unbearable. Finally, I had my husband carry me into Dr Rose's office, o appointment, I was just there to plead for a look. The nurse said, "Why do you think you have a clot?" I told her my symptoms, she said, "You don't have a clot; if you did, you'd be rolling around on the floor in excruciating pain." I said, "I am in excruciating pain; this is me in excruciating pain." Unbeknownst to us, Dr Rose was around the corner, listening. He came out and said he would have a look. Then, lots of to-phone calls, faxes; had to be done now. I did indeed have pelvic clots, yes, that's plural. Just a note to medical professionals: You have to take culture into account; I am a Finlander; we don't complain. My father died at fifty-eight (of overwhelming sepsis) because the ER refused to believe he was in pain; he'd shown up every day for a week, only to be turned away, until the last day, when he dropped dead. THEN, they checked his blood; we were told he had "enough sepsis to kill ten men." The Finns will know what I am talking about. And no, there were no apologies.

Dr David Rose recommended a corrective surgery for diviticulites, it failed due to a stitch that…read morefailed? Three days later he had to do a full surgery which required him to attached a bag to my intestine. Right afterwards he left town for two weeks and me septic in ICU for that time, I was in the hospital for one month. After six months of hell dealing with it, he did a restructure. His corrective surgery almost killed me and I continue to suffer from hernias and and intestine discomfort. Get a second opinion from a specialist who is not a surgeon before having corrective surgery. There are options for diviticulites other than surgery.

There is the word "ill" in her name for a reason. Stay away, if you want to stay healthy…read more BEWARE! is what I advise. I am a young 54-year old two-time cancer survivor. The first was stage III bladder cancer. The second was stage high II / low III colorectal cancer. I also have interstitial cystitis and colitis, so had been very ill from the outset. I happen to "present well (never "look sick")," and in both cases, diagnosis was slow and painful in coming and could have happened a LOT earlier had I been taken seriously from the start. I ended up being diagnosed in Sweden, where I have found that the medical system is amazingly good. Before the second cancer, I was feeling quite ill, and as do most people, I know my body. I felt certain that something was very wrong. My GP agreed, and told me that with my colitis, background, I certainly needed to see a gastroenterologist immediately. She got me an urgent appointment with this "specialist." When I went to Dr. Miller with: 1) severe pain 2) considerable rectal bleeding 3) a very large, palpable bump around my tailbone, and 4) a history of colitis and very recent bladder cancer (3.5 years prior) She did not see it necessary to EXAMINE ME! No "Let's take a look," No colonoscopy recommended, nothing. She was very casual and fast, no-nonsense-seeming, pushed me to purchase a very expensive pro-biotic, "VSL#3" ( I firmly believe that she gets a cut of the sales), and put me on steroids. As corticosteroids naturally mask and artificially reduce the body's inflammation responses, I immediately felt considerably better for the duration of the steroid course. I wasn't altogether "right," but I had been so ill for so long that I assumed that it would take some time to improve completely. When I went to my check-back appointment, I was surprised to be attended to by a physician's assistant, Christina, who was among the most unpleasant of people I've had to deal with. Unfriendly and dismissive, she sent me off, and I left the office feeling uncomfortable -- you know the feeling that you've not been heard. The point is that it was not before seeing several other inadequate local doctors who shooed me away, that I was diagnosed while visiting family, and becoming ill in Sweden. Colorectal cancer; stage: high II- low III. By that time I was so weakened and ill that treatment was aggressive and complicated. This was a full seven months after having seen "Doctor" Miller and other poor excuses for medical professionals. I have been left disabled from this second cancer, with considerable permanent damage due to what's called Pelvic Radiation Disease, and myriad complications from the necessarily aggressive cancer treatment. LINDA MILLER BEARS RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS. Linda Miller saw me in the spring time of 2005, and I was not diagnosed until January 2006. As my gastroenterologist, I went with a problem - CANCER -- that could have been addressed THAT SAME DAY- as I had a very prominent, bleeding lump that one could see and feel. Biopsy would have taken care of it. Instead, I suffered greatly, and the cancer continued to develop, for SEVEN MONTHS. Obviously, I do not recommend Linda Miller. In her casual, carelessness, she is dangerous to patients. Sure, she may seem "cool" as others have commented, but I don't go to a gastroenterologist seeking "cool." I am not looking for doctor friends. And the PA? A crass boor. An extra: I was told by a reliable friend that Dr. Miller perforated her colon while performing a routine colonoscopy. When she was urgently seen by a different doctor, he reported that she was very bruised inside. How nice. UPDATE (2012): I was later referred to Dr. Majuk, Linda Miller's office colleague, and have been with him since then (2006). He has recently moved and opened his own practice. Now *this* is an EXCELLENT gastro man. Lovely, professional, great doctor. I am still alive, NO thanks to "doctor" Miller. Others' reviews will corroborate my evaluation of Dr. Majuk.

One of the problems with Yelp is that it makes the doctors purchase a membership for all of the…read morepositive reviews to show. That is not fair to the doctors when a service just publishes the negative until the doctor buys a membership so that other reviews show. So, just be aware of that about Yelp. Another doctor of mine, Nancy Thorner, who is completely AWESOME and gives the most pain-free pelvic exam in the universe, got one disgruntled customer who ruined her rep on Yelp and now Yelp is trying to force her to buy a membership so that good reviews (like mine) do not show. However, I will try again with this manipulative thing called Yelp! and say that Dr. Linda Miller is a gem who saves lives. Her manner is fantastic. She historically has done work that other doctors only dream of doing. She was so compassionate with me when I was in excruciating pain and discomfort prior to a procedure and personally saw to it that I was made comfortable by a weak and rude staff at Dominican's Endoscopy Center (now THEY should get a BAD review, not her, in fact all of Dominican's/DIgnity's outpatient surgery centers are frightening, I've been to two now and won't go anywhere but the actual hospital or Sutter in the future). Long story short, Dr. Miller rocks. The reason she runs late is because she is so popular because she is what a doctor should be and does what a doctor should do: she listens and takes the time that is needed to take care of her patients. She told me, having never met me before, that I was her "gift from God" that day, that she felt she could help me feel better. I'm not religious, but that was a really cool thing to say to a patient. FIVE STARS FOR DR. MILLER.

The ER from a fall, suffering a broken hand and fingers (my hand being deformed)- I could not reach down comfortably with my opposite hand. Anyhow I asked a nurse to assist me. I said I under that but these have all my in, may you please assist me. She huffed. And did nothing. So I was struggling to get them. So I stood up and inquired with another nurse, who said, "Just wait"- - then the doctor came in and the first gal got them and threw them on the chair as she looked me dead in the eye! I've never been in so much pain and treated so poorly! Then after seeing the doctor who ordered pain meds and X-rays. Sent me next door to await some pain meds. That nurse said don't sit there and pointed across the way. Once seated she said you can come back or just sit there that's fine as she rolled her eyes and made a sye- UGH!!!
