Went looking for a quote for a quick job that would take 5 minutes. After a long discussion about how great he is, and what the proper way to do the job would be, he quoted me at $150. I went next door to another fab shop and they did the job for me in 5 minutes for $10. I would avoid this shop if you're looking for a quick welding job. read more

Don't go here! Paul sets you up with an earful of how great he is, and he's a dying breed of master welders... That should warn you that he's going to empty your pockets when he's done with you. He won't work on your job unless you're there, and you end up being his assistant (which you don't get paid), and then talks, and talks, and talks, and talks, and wastes time and your money. He'll then claim all those hours and then cheat on the number of welding rods he uses. Find someone else to work with - I learned my lesson with this guy! read more

Nope, can't recommend this place. I had purchased my own part and didn't have time to install it so went looking for a local place that could help with a simple install. Well, tried this place only to end up with the owner YELLING at me. Yes, it was a small job and I was bringing the part so he couldn't up sell me on his own part. So I guess this apparently irritated him... oh well. Anyway, there are many other places in SC / DP / SJC to go for these types of services. I would definitely look elsewhere... read more

Worst customer service ever. Upon entering the empty lobby I go to sit down and luckily notice the box cutter razor blade sitting on the middle of the cushion... The owner soon walked, greeted me and walked out to my bike with me (he seemed unphased by the razor, simply moving it to the counter). I show him the part where the tubing of my motorcycle muffler is broken and ask how much it would be to "just" connect the tubing back together. I proceeded to get a super patronizing, pretentious lecture about how welding is a dying art, that he is a artisan and does everything himself, and doesn't "just" do anything. He kept on pressing me for a price range and finally 15 minutes later after I repeated explained that it wasn't my bike and I was just trying to get a quote for the work as I showed him, he told me that it would be under $300 - no thanks. If your looking to get expensive "art"sy welds done by a pretentious dude in a disgusting facility... - he's your man! Paul is amazing. I had him replicate a piece of wrought iron and it had be exact or it wouldn't fit the uneven rock structure the original came from. I was highly skeptical that it could be done. I brought it home, I put it on the rock wall and it fitted exactly. He did amazing work! I was very happy with the result. I highly recommend him for his precise work. Well done!!! read more

The bicycle seat on my wife's bike was loose and when I took it off, I noticed that the steel bars that connected it to the seat post were bent and sheared and apart. I called a couple of welding shops that either wouldn't do a small job or were closed as it was a Saturday afternoon. When I called Certified Welding, I spoke with Paul and he said yes and to come on by and that he would take a look at it he seat. When I arrived at his shop he was very enthusiastic about his trade and the repair of the seat. ( good head) lo and behold after an hour or so Paul fixed the seat better than new. I had a very good experience with him and his work. I will definitely go back to him and will recommend him to my friends. Nice to support a local business. read more

It is rare to find a quality tradesman like Paul. Today, I brought into his shop a broken transmission case from a 1964 Harley Davidson. Paul not only welded the broken-off piece back onto the case, he did it in excellent fashion, making it look like it had never been broken to begin with. His work is at the level of true artisan. Aweful experience this morning with the most arrogant person I believe I have ever met. I called a couple days ago to ask if they could fix a crack on my teenage sons mountain bike frame. I spoke with Paul, the owner, apparently, said they had been in business for 39 years, a good thing I thought. Brought the bike in this morning at 10 am, The gentleman I was greeted by said to bring the bike in through the garage into the back, which I did. After about a 10second assessment on a one inch crack, less than a millimeter wide he told me that it would be about a 4 hour job. $125 an hour and $35 for parts, $500+, WTF!!! When I asked if that was normal, he said "well this is lie a $3000 bike right?, seems he prices jobs on the your income level and cost of your stuff rather than what is right. He went on and on about he he is a craftsman and then showed me photos of all the $1K plus jobs he's done an why the $500 plus price (cash only) deal he was giving me was so great. Told him I had to talk to my son, see if he wants the bike fixed for that price and I would let him know if we would proceed. He then told me if I leave, the deal he is offering me is no longer available! Basically threatening me to do the deal now or never, horrible customer service and completely arrogant individual, steer clear, this business obviously doesn't need my or anyone else's business!!, read more

I normally don't do the Yelp thing but, in this case I feel you need to know. If you need something welded and want quality this is your guy. Twice I have been told by marine experts that what I broke could not be fixed because of the metalurgy and the constant contact with salt water. I saved thousands of dollars having him repair the "unrepairable". His welds have also stood the test of time. His shop is well equipped. read more
