Went with a couple of friends and ordered Royal Flush Banquet and was generally pleased. First it truly was a banquet, a ton of food for a very reasonable price. It started with a platter of appetizers: salt and pepper spare ribs, crispy seaweed, spring rolls, prawn toast and chicken with satay sauce. Didn't love the salt and pepper spare ribs as they were breaded and deep fried (and I think bought at Robinsons). Everything else, though, was excellent. Then there was a course of crispy aromatic duck. Really enjoyed that, but I usually really enjoy deck. For the mains, we had steak cantonese style, lemon chicken, sweet and sour pork, king prawns with broccoli and fried rice. The steak was good, not fatty or chewy, pretty good quality. I loved the chicken but it was deep fried in a very sweet lemony sauce, so not for everyone. They brought us sweet and sour chicken and then brought the pork once we pointed it out. It was typical, and actually the pork and chicken were pretty interchangeable. I am not a fan of king prawns on the island, they are tiny compared to king prawns most places. That said, they tested good and were not overly fishy. The rice was also nice. Too stuffed for the dessert but one in our party did order the ice cream but was brought banana fritters. When pointed out, they effectively dropped a scoop of ice cream on the plate. So the food plentiful and pretty good. Almost dropped them a star as they made two mistakes on the order (sweet and sour chicken instead of pork, fritters instead of ice cream) but stuff happens. You also get a 5 pound chip to play in the casino with the bill, a fun touch.

Definitely delivers on the Chinese Restaurant experience - we had the Full House banquet (£22 pp, minimum 2 people) which consisted of duck pancakes for entree, which were authentically served with thinly sliced cucumber, shallot, steamed wraps & plum sauce. Mains were lemon chicken, prawns with broccoli in oyster sauce, sweet sour crispy beef and yang chow fried rice. Dessert was a choice of ice cream or pineapple/banana fritter. Whilst service was a bit slow (busy Friday night) the staff were courteous and helpful. I actually highly rated the yang Chow fried rice (great flavour & spirited wok aroma) and broccoli prawns which was more of a crystal glaze than thick oyster sauce bath which is what the title would imply. Sometimes simple things and simple flavours are best - broccoli was cooked aldente with just the perfect snap upon bite. Give it a go, particularly the yang chow fried rice and try the non-deep fried foods which seems to be where this restaurant shines.

We came for the ice cream and decided to have dinner too--might as well, right? Everything was delicious and super flavorful (we were missing having spices in our food after a month of English/Irish food during our travels). We sat upstairs where it was quiet and pleasant. Our waitress was super sweet and attentive, even though it required her to run up the stairs all evening. The decor was lovely. The complimentary rice puffs were a nice touch. We definitely finished off with ice cream. My boyfriend got fried ice cream, but it wasn't at all like the kind he is used to in the US. It was still good, he was just confused, haha. Our bellies were full and happy afterward. We would absolutely come back if we find ourselves on Isle of Man again. The only thing I didn't like was the bottomless tea. I got so excited that I could have plenty of tea with my meal, but it was basically hot water with a few leaves thrown in. I couldn't taste the tea at all as it was, and of course, when they refill it, it was just more water added to the same old flavorless tea leaves, and I have no idea how anyone could fall that tea. Disappointed in that regard. Otherwise, all was great!

From the exterior, I thought it was a takeaway, possibly one with a few tables. Once I stepped inside I realized it was a nice restaurant, multiple rooms, warmly furnished and quite comfortable. Additionally, the service was excellent, attentive, pleasant and very communicative. The meal was also very good (not London quality but the best Chinese food I have had on the island). I started with the spare ribs with salt and chili powder. The server (possibly owner) asked how spicy and I asked for medium, was surprised it was actually medium (usually they err on the side of mild). A very substantial portion of cut up ribs and nicely served on a hot plate. For my main, I had duck Chinese style, which was duck breast in a sweetish sauce with onions. A lot of duck and not too greasy. I found the sauce a little too sweet but otherwise excellent. I did find it a little pricey for Chinese food, though, but not enough to take away a star. Overall, quite a good experience.

In our group of 8, we had the Sapphire set menu for 6 and a vegetarian set menu for 2. The restaurant was very accommodating with this and also requests to swap dishes in the set menu for an alternative. Food and atmosphere are nice, but nothing too memorable other than decent portion sizes. Pleasant and reasonably priced, but I think there are nicer Chinese restaurants on the island.
