Basically, the owner made an offer in an email that she did not keep and reserved the cabin out from under us a few days before our trip. Here are the details: I wrote Rita an email asking about the cost for a three night stay. She wrote back with a final cost and I confirmed via phone call. I gave over my full name, credit card info and home address. She then called back and said she was sorry, but the price she'd quoted me was incorrect because she'd based it on two nights rather than three. She owned the mistake and gave me a new price reflecting three nights. I agreed to the new price initially, and she sent over a contract to sign before 7pm that evening. After speaking with my wife, we decided the new price was simply too high so I wrote Rita to cancel. She apologized again and offered one of the nights for free to make up for the mistake. She said she'd email me a new contract to reflect this adjustment. I said that was wonderful. She wrote back shortly after to say that she was sorry, but someone else had begun to reserve those dates and she'd write back if they fell through. Ok? So here I'd gone 95% of the way through the process, received an offer in no uncertain terms, and had it retracted at the last minute ostensibly to earn more dollars from another client. I didn't post screen shots of our emails here as a courtesy. If it's your first time staying here I'd strongly consider other options first given the customer service issues I'd encountered so early in the process.

Plan accordingly. http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/ Outdoor adventures keeps the guided groups small (maximum 12 people). I appreciate the small groups since this was my first time kayaking. Three types of kayaks are available: single, double or triple occupancy. Discover is an accepted form of payment. A Discover Pass is required to park at Spencer Spit. If you do not have a pass, a $10 day pass can be purchased with cash or check. There were several rangers checking passes on our visit so be sure to have a pass visibly displayed to avoid being ticketed. WHAT TO BRING - Signed Release of Liability - Bathing suit or non-cotton under layers preferred - A synthetic shirt (capilene, polypro, Under Armor, etc) - Shorts or pants made of a synthetic material (may get wet/damp) - Lightweight fleece jacket or windbreaker/rain jacket to provide warmth - Water shoes or sandals that strap on (or shoes that can get wet) - Sun hat and/or sunglasses - Sunscreen and chapstick - Water bottle - Optional; Camera, Plastic bag for wet items and change of clothing - If you have a gift certificate or prepaid voucher (such as Groupon) please bring a printed copy with you! Dorito Dan was our guide for the day. Dan was friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. The first hour is dedicated to introductions, procedures and safety. Be sure to use the restroom before departing. Once on the water, there is no turning back. Kayaking is great for teamwork and communication. Both are required to avoid frustration. I recommend wearing weight-lifting/bicycle gloves in order to prevent blisters. Each person in our group started getting blisters towards the end of the tour. During our 3 mile kayaking trip, we spotted starfish, seals and majestic bald eagles. Thank you Outdoor Adventures for providing a magnificent day of play while surrounded by gorgeous Mother Nature. They do provide a delicious home cooked breakfast, but one down side is that the little cabin doesn't have any cooking appliances, so you either have to bring snacks to store in the little refrigerator or venture out to the Index Cafe for dinner. Overall I'd highly recommend this place for couples who want an easy way to get out of town to relax/be in the wilderness without the hassle of snow tires/chains.

You could go with the mega-sized outfit that probably gets more hits on Google, but I've dealt with those companies. They tend to rush people in and out, and see their operation as more of an amusement park. With Chinook, Shane and Andrea love what they do, and have decades of experience on the river. I was looking for a rental home. After touring the property I spoke with a representative who…read moreconfirmed I was the only one expressing interest, so I proceeded to submit an application and work with the credit/application specialist, Brian Seutz. Brian is not someone I would want to work with again. About an hour after I spoke with the first rep, Brian advised that there were "multiple applications" in for the property. After convincing me to still proceed with the application, he made it clear on multiple occasions that he would proceed with the better qualified applicant. This was stressed after I already spent $100+ on application, credit and pet fees, based on both representatives' recommendation. Ultimately I was rejected due to a "late" rent payment. I asked Brian to review because I had supporting documentation confirming on-time payments, but he responded with "Another applicant has already been approved". This was all in an hour??? I found the whole process to be a scam to make money off application/credit fees. Fortunately, since I met the strict requirements to rent from this company, I was able to proceed with a home purchase. Potential renters looking for long term housing, and that meet this company's rental requirements, should consider purchasing instead.
