I feel the need to share our experience with AC Taxi on November 4th, 2022. Our family required a van as we were travelling with five passengers to Departure Bay for a 10:40 ferry. We called AC Taxi at 8:01AM to request a van to attend our address at 9:30AM. At 9:40, we called in to AC Taxi to check the ETA of our requested van. The dispatcher mentioned that the cab was another 10-15 minutes away. We expressed to the dispatcher to please let the driver know of our need for urgency as we had a ferry to catch. The dispatcher confirmed that the driver has been notified of this and would be there ASAP. Upon our driver's arrival, the driver leisurely exited his vehicle and walked to the back of the van. No greeting was made, just a lackadaisical demeanour that emulated the company's scheduling organization. Then after arranging the seats for our trip, the driver stood to the side of the vehicle and re-entered his leisure state. My family loaded our luggage ourself, our driver daydreaming; almost seeming as though he was attempting to show his disinterest in our urgency. It was obvious the lack of empathy and service in our driver. Upon our arrival, our driver continued his status quo. Allowing us to open the lift gate and remove our luggage. In terms of reliability, AC Taxi has proven to be untrustworthy. If you need to arrive at a location at a specific time, find other arrangements. Very disappointed in this experience as a whole. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. Worst experience with cab drivers. Extremely rude and unprofessional. Clearly must be connected through familial ties because no representative would be allowed to continue on with the conduct they have. They complain about not getting tips, then proceed to treat the patrons badly. It's pretty abysmal when other companies that don't have great reputations behave better and appreciate customers more than you.. but if they don't care about they run they're business than expect to face the consequences. if I could give ZERO stars I would. I politely asked the driver if he knew restaurant I was going to. He rudely told me to never do that to a taxi driver. Like it was the biggest sin in the Taxi world. Who knew??? I kept my mouth shut till we got there. and then let him know how rude he was. He told me I was rude? It went down hill from there'. I called to complain and asked to speak with someone in charge. I have yet thear from the manager as I have reque a call back. Very quick pick up. Literally 5-10 minutes from call to pickup. I was recommended AC by Enterprise Rent a Car for the ride back to the ferry. I just returned my car on a Sunday and made the call. They were quick. The lady that picked me up was pleasant to talk to and we shared stories all the way to the ferry. She even dropped me off at the door step. I was very pleased with my ride, the service and the good conversation. The fact that the cab was clean also impressed me. read more

I booked a trip, and the driver was on time, polite and was a good driver, on our way he suggested an alternate route to save time and therefore money. However it became apparent that it was not going to save time and he admitted that he made a mistake. To my surprise he stopped the meter and said that because he made a mistake it was only fair. This young man should be used to train other drivers on great customer service. read more

Merry Christmas. I hope you all have better luck with your driver than we did today. For starters he called us and all our leftover food and presents to the door twice while he was at the wrong address. Then asked us to wait outside for his arrival . Then instead of parking in the driveway he made me and my girlfriend walk to the ice covered street making multiple trips to the car without any care to our safety or even a inclination of help. Once we've loaded it up and started the very short run home I tried to make conversation about how busy the night had been. After being completely ignored I mentioned that he should turn left at Selby st. As life would be easier if he could park on our side of the street. You probably have guessed already that he did not and didn't even say anything the next 5 minutes of the drive. On arrival at our house he finally got talking. He said that he was going to park on the other side of the street I asked him if he could just park in the driveway by our door as the roads are very icy and we have a lot of stuff. That was rudely responded to by him saying that he didn't have to and we should be sanding our driveway. Oblivious to the fact that he could easily drive over the ice and then back out to the road he adamantly demanded that we pay and then my girlfriend with a bone disorder and I who have just recovered from a broken knee took 2 more trips each over the ice and across the road. In my opinion these people are in a very competitive customer service position and they should benefit from a good deal of training in several areas in that field. Definitely recommend Uber for Nanaimo after this challenged individual who has no tact or decency is validated for AC. read more

I called AC taxi to make a complaint. I was not the least bit upset when I called because, being a businessman most of my life I figure any well run business wants to know when there's a problem. In the course of normal conversation I started a sentence that began with "if you're unable to do anything ... At that point I was immediately cut off, though I was not about to make any accusations I just wanted to say to her "if you can't do anything about this I don't need to continue. I attempted this as a courtesy because I thought your company would want to know". Instead she cut me off & yelled at me. I tried to stop her & let her know what I was going to say. She would have none of that. She cut me off like a pile of smelly crap & hung up. Don't use AC taxi. The one who answers the phone is terrible. read more

A 27 minute 26 km trip was $80! We were quoted $60-70. Crazy. We left our car at home rather than take it on the ferry thinking oh no problem we will just take transit or taxis. Wrong!! It would've been cheaper to bring the car over. This has nothing to do with the standard of service provided as the drivers are consistently professional. It's the cost that is prohibitive and ridiculously expensive. The Island needs UBER ASAP read more

Today was the first time I've ever been told to go fuck myself and have a nice walk home. We waited for 49 minutes for a cab that said they were 5 minutes out. I watched them pull a u turn 100 ft from where we called in and speed off, ignoring us waving our hands. When I called in for a 4th time I was told the unspeakable first line. This is disgusting that in this day and age, a company can treat ppl like this...and somehow thrive. Will walk 20 miles before ever calling this low class company again. read more

BEWARE OF RUDE & INEXPERIENCED WHEELCHAIR TAXI DRIVERS My mom in that she is not weight bearing and in a wheelchair and is 92 years old and really doesn't advocate well for herself? Well she was picked up by ACCabs from her care facility - they arrived late for a prearranged appointment. I met the taxivan at the Denturist where my mom was going. When the taxivan came into the parking lot i noticed that the back door of the taxi van was not completely closed with a 2 inch gap on both sides of the back door. I challenged the driver and he told me that wheelchair was too big for the van and that he had also had problems with the door closing before. He was so rude and not interested in talking to me. The back door of the van was jammed part way open and he tried and tried to release it however could not get it open. I suggested perhaps he could pull the wheelchair as far forward as possible to release the tension on the door and he yelled at me and told me to mind my business. He said the chair was all the way in. I watched for a few moments all the while knowing my mom was now late for her appointment which was around the back of the building we were at. The driver could not figure how to unjam the door. The side door was open so i climbed in and released the wheelchairs 2 brakes and rolled the chair 4 inches forward while the driver was on the opposite side - my action took 3-5 seconds. The driver started yelling at me telling me 'get out of my van'. I climbed out then went around the back of the van and opened the back door. The guy was pissed ... he climbed out of the van and came to the back. He dropped the ramp down and in the process stumbled over the ramp and fell down....I would say the guy was in his 60s. He didn't seem real steady on his feet. So the driver continued his rant as I wheeled mom away to her appointment. I called the AC Cabs supervisor and when she heard that the driver drove over to the appointment with the rear door part open and that he said it never worked right, she became very apologetic. When we returned to my mom's care facility and without prompting, the care aids asked if the cab driver was rude to us too. I shared our story of the door being ajar and how rude the cabby was to us. Apparently taxi driver had showed up late to pickup my mom and when asked why he was late, he went on a rant and tore a strip off the care aid. read more

Driver charged me twice for the same ride. Called in three separate times before someone actually picked up the phone when connected to an administrator. Spent five minutes giving information to the Admin and she assured me that the double charge would be taken off of my card. Was told that I would be emailed momentarily with confirmation. It has been TWO DAYS, and I have received no email, and the charge is still on my card. The mistake happened two weeks ago. How much work am I supposed to put in to fix a drivers mistake, exactly? Do I have to drive to the station and manually do it myself? AVOID BTW, the ride was great. The cab driver was a younger guy who was super helpful. The admin? They suck. read more

I'm conflicted writing this as there is a LOT of amazing drivers here in Nanaimo. However this review is for the rest of the service, the lady on the phone is always SO rude, I'm always very polite and I just don't understand why, it's been this way for as long as I've been calling AC. I tip the drivers VERY well and use this service often, but whether it's me, a friend or family member calling, the phone operator is always super grumpy and rude. 5 stars for the drivers though! read more

Well....I had a higher regard for this company BEFORE today....I had always found the cabs clean, and relatively safe and quick. But today I was left standing outside of Superstore for 45 minutes! I called three times. The dispatcher told me I was next in line, and when a cab finally did come ANOTHER person jumped into it. I was getting really annoyed at this point. I called again and the dispatcher told me my cab was 3 blocks away. I would have been all well and good with this situation if I had received some sort of customer service. The cab driver who finally did come pick me up told me that it was really busy, and he apologized and also told me there were NO CABS on the north end. Someone is NOT doing their job properly....nuff said. I am looking for new cab companies to call from now on. read more

Pre booked the cab to make a flight. The cab wouldn't start when we were ready to head back. After trying to start the thing for 20 minutes another shuttle was called which arrived 45 minutes later. We called ahead and managed to get the plane to wait, but were left with an angry driver complaining about her boss and stuck with the entire bill, no discount. Cab companies. WHere to begin. In sleepy Nanaimo there is not a lot of them. But just because this is a small town don't let that fool you into thinking these cab drivers are any different from big city cab companies. 1. Short and sweet when you call in. 2. Drivers engage you in "weird" discussion. 3. They Look upset when you do not tip them enoguh.The only thing I really hate (and this happens everywhere) is when they say "It will be 5-10 minutes." I called for a cab for my customers at my business. I gave my name and my business name. When the cab arrived a couple of less polite passers by jumped in. I politely asked the driver if he was the cab I had called and he confirmed that he was called to my address but left anyways. I will not use this company again. read more

Wow.....AC Taxi and customer service do not go hand in hand. My son lost his phone in a cab going downtown Sat night. He called them an hour after he lost it when he got to a landline to see if they could call the driver so it wouldn't get picked up by another passenger. Dispatch said he had to wait til Mon when the office opened and then hung up on him. On his way home from down town, he stopped at the office to ask in person and she flipped out saying he was harassing her. If anyone has met my son, he is not a "harassing" person. I called in the morning to ask if there was anyway to contact the drivers before Mon as we were worried it was going to get picked up by someone else in the meantime. She said the drivers were off shift. I asked if the cars were parked or if other drivers are now driving them. She said "Yes".(???) I asked "Yes, to which? Are the cars parked or are other drivers using them now? Because if they're still being driven then could we check with the drivers now?" She yelled "I'm doing the best I can!" and then said she couldn't contact any drivers. (???) and then hung up on me. My son called the office Mon and... surprise! No phone was turned in. Now he has to replace it. I'm slightly pissed because if dispatch had contacted the driver that night when it was only an hour later, he might have found the phone. Plus... hanging up on someone?! I called today to get a quote for a trip and found the estimate a little high and when I questioned the lady she told me she has been working for 10 years for the company and that I was being insulting questioning her... She was so rude in her tone I hung up and called the other cab company only to find out that her estimate of 13 dollars was well over the 7 to 8 the other company had quoted. I also checked on line trip Cab Calculator and found it to be around 9 for the same distance,,,, I would never call again and many other reviews here solidify my decision on this. read more

Not reliable. I booked an A C Taxi for an early morning Downtown Pick Up to go to the Airport and nobody showed up. I called the dispatcher (a very snarky unhelpful woman) who informed me that all the taxis were busy taking people home from late night parties (This was the morning after adult trick or treat dress up parties). So why did you ignore my booking and pick up all these party revellers I asked. What do you expect me to do she asked, create a taxi out of thin air? No I replied, I expect you to honor my reservation. What is the point of making a reservation if a taxi is not reserved. She hung up on me. There was another young person waiting for an A C Taxi ride to a different location and he has also been ignored. I think A C Taxi simply uses their reservation list to dispatch drivers who are not busy - They have no concept of what a reservation is. They are my last choice of Taxi in Nanaimo. read more

This company damaged a wounded woman's property after she asked (4 times) for help to make her way to the cab. She was on her way to surgery. The cabbie shamed her. Refused to help. Backed the car up the driveway rather than walking. And smashed plants, pots, and wooden structures in the process. Choose another company. read more
