We recently had to have a rental through ICBC. We returned the vehicle to the Bowen Rd location. The staff was absolutely amazing!! They all went the extra mile. Being in our late 70's it was sometime difficult to understand the system, they were patient in explaining everything to us, sometime needing to repeat info... Keep it short. Rented a car. Paid for all the extras,insurance and roadside assistance.holiday in Nanaimo, first sightseeing drive to Victoria. Made it there, broke down on the highway( turned into a life threatening experience) almost got hit by other cars several times.finally got the car off the center of the road. The car had stalled and it was like it applied it's own breaks.called enterprise 6 times all 6 times the call was disconnected, finally on the 7 call, I asked them not to hang up, they said they won't. They instructed me to call for a tow , so I did. Truck showed up, I was instructed to return the car to the place I rented it. Then the person said oh your talking to someone in the USA, we disconnected. Got in the tow truck with the driver his dispatch came on the radio and said I had to contact the local enterprise, I did, explained what was happening. Enterprise said there not paying for that tow. The tow driver wrote a bill, 163.00 we moved 3 km"s. I did not think I should pay the bill. The tow truck driver had no choice to leave us at a gas station on the highway, and proceeded to impound with the car. We were stranded 100 km from where we were staying. I called enterprise, talk to the first person they said there was nothing they could do for us, I wanted to talk to a supervisor. On hold for 15 minutes. She, the supervisor, then told me there is nothing they will do for us. There we stood , stranded and getting dark. We were 15 minutes out of Victoria. ( they should have got us a car out of Victoria)After six hour I managed to contact a friend to drive 1 1/2 hours to come get us. He had to work at 5:00am, causing another dangerous situation.now it's Monday morning, waiting to make a call to enterprises office and lawyer. Not only was me my wife and grandson stranded, our only chance of shelter was the car, it was all gone. Anything could have happened. Enterprise suggested I call the police for help, following instructions, I did. I'm sure we all know how that went. Lucky I found a friend to help are we would have possibly spent the night on the highway surrounded by forest. Absolutely no help from enterprise. I canceled my credit card incase enterprise try's to charge me for the tow are possibly the car. This company is bad, I hope to find good legal advice and sue these clowns. Literally the best car rental experience in my life. Jeff picked me up right at the ferry and dropped me off at the office. Pretty funny conversationalist I might add. At the office I was greeted by Mark whom I had booked with over the phone. This was my first time renting a car on the island and because of this experience I will probably end up doing it more often. Mark literally instructed me to call once the Ferry calls everyone back to their cars. It was perfect timing. Once you walk out Jeff was waiting in the parking lot as close to the door as you can get. A few funny stories later and recommended points of interest to see on the island and you arrive at the office. Mark was friendly and made the experience of renting a car quick and painless. He explained how they determined what was normal wear and tear (with a cue ball sized card), noted any previous damage, explained some of the dials on the car and even gave me pointers on road conditions. He even recommended me a great taxi company for the ride back to the ferry (AC Taxi). All in all, I was very satisfied with my rental and my rental experience. read more

Beware of the opening hours! I had booked a car weeks in advance for a day on a long weekend. They emailed (Ethan) me to say they had made a mistake when they took the booking they were not open on the day they had confirmed my reservation. I get it....however I had already made other arrangements around that booking, ferries, accommodations as I was coming over early from Vancouver. POOR SERVICE "sorry I didnt realise we are not open on that day when i confirmed your booking" you should have at the very least offered me an alternative. I often come to Nanaimo and rent cars. I am now booked with Budget who are open on the day of arrival and offer to pick me up at the ferry without me even having to ask. Go with Budget in Nanaimo even if you are a Enterprise Plus member!!! read more
