So far, my ecperience with AC Provo's has been great! I have no idea what ticked people off you post such negative reviews.
I went to AC Provo's, on a recommendation from my best friend's father, despite the horrible reviews left by a couple people, and I'm happy I did. They offer financing to ANYBODY! Some vehicles need to be financed through a bank, because of the cost of the vehicles, but they offer in-house financing as a buy here/pay here, which requires no credit check; however, you must have an income, and you can either auto-pay through your bank, or pay in cash. You will need to bring proof of income, a piece of mail from your current address, a valid license, your deposit (typically $500), and before you can take the vehicle, you'll need to have proof of insurance faxed to them by your insurance provider. You will get a 14 day temporary plate, you give you time to register your vehicle as well.
I purchased a 2002 Hyundai Accent. My deposit was only $250, and I'll pay $50/week, until paid off. Taxes and total interest are added into your total amount due, so you know exactly what you'll be paying in all, and you don't need to pay more than your exact deposit, and weekly payments. You can opt for weekly, biweekly, or monthly payments. You can also choose auto-pay to be paid on Fridays or Mondays. My credit used to be in the low 400s, but in the last year or so, I've raised it to badly 600, but still would have a hard time financing without a cosigner, so this is a convenient service. There was no credit check, but this also means they don't report payments to help your credit increase. So unless you wind up financing through a bank, this isn't a place to build your credit score.
A.C. Provo's offers a 30 days or 1,000 miles guarantee, on anything that would be required by Maine laws to pass an inspection, free of charge. They also offer 30 days or 1,000 miles on engine, transmission, & everything else, but you pay the first $150 of costs, then they'll split the rest of the cost of repairs 50/50. This is really a decent deal.
As far as my car, I've had no major problems, really. I noticed after getting the car home, a familiar smell, which I knew right away was the coolant... There was none in the car; it was bone dry. The heater, A/C, & windshield defroster don't work, but everything else is just fine, so far that I've noticed. The steering wheel shakes hitting around 50/55mph, which I will have checked out this weekend, as to get really anywhere from where I live, the speed limits are 55mph up to 75mph, and I can't avoid it. Fortunately, they were honest from the start, and told me the check engine light came on when they moved the car in to get it ready for me, but in the one day from agreeing to but it, and buying it, they didn't have time to check it out, so have agreed to check it out, and fix whatever is wrong with it, free of charge, since they normally would've before purchasing.
Anyway, these guys were very friendly, personal, and not at all like sleazy used car salesmen. They answered all questions I had, and were 100% upfront about everything. They even showed me proof of everything that was damaged in the car, and replaced/fixed previously. There is far more money put into the car, than they're making off of it, to be totally honest.
This car isn't a fancy car, and it's not something I'm going to likely have in 2 more years, but it's a car, and it does for me what need it to do (get me to and from work, appointments, and shopping). People leaving bad reviews, are insane. How can you complain that you bought something, that you knew what it was, and just aren't happy later? How can you complain about the convenience of the service provided? It's like homeless people complaining the food at the soup kitchen sucks (and trust me, some do! Hahaha!).
I definitely would recommend going to AC Provo's, to anyone who can't get financing because of bad credit, or people like me, who have kids, and bills, and can't afford an insane couple thousand dollar deposit & hundreds more per month in payments on a car. Great, honest, friendly service, for sure.
