I like doing business with businesses in Carmel Valley (even though I live in Carmel-by-the-sea and do lots of business in Monterey). I find businesses there to generally be more customer-centric, satisfaction-focused and harder working. I can now add A Brilliant Shine to my list of highly rated CV businesses. As others state in reviews, the owner's focus on communication and customer-satisfaction is front-and-center in every interaction I had with him. He's a great explainer, informative, flexible and helpful. Based on his advice, I was able to choose the car detailing package that was right for me. My Mazda had never been professionally detailed, and all the little paint scratches and general haze made the 10-year-old car look really tired. Then I stupidly tried to remove some glue with an SOS pad and left a small spot on the driver's side door badly scratched. I got a bid from a mobile paint and dent repair company to repair my damage, but I just didn't trust the guy. And he insisted on completely repainting big parts of the car for big money. On the other hand, Andrew at A Brilliant Shine said he could not only repair my scratched driver's side door, but could give the whole car a refresh. Cut to the finished product: It looks terrific. All the swirl marks and scratches are gone. The damage I did with the SOS pad is no longer noticeable. And the two-tone paint has a gorgeous, vibrant, deep-dark look and feel - just like when it rolled off the assembly line in 2014. The interior is spotless. After almost exactly 2 years of waiting, 6 days ago I got my Tesla Model 3. The first thing I wanted to do was protect that beautiful Deep Blue Metallic paint. 4 years ago I had my 2007 Acura TL Opti-Coat'ed, and it looks as good now as it did then, so I looked around the Monterey Bay area for someone to apply that (or similar) to my Tesla. I sent an email out to 4 different highly-rated detailers with what I was looking for (Opti-Coat and black "Chrome Delete"). Andrew was the first to respond, with options and estimates. I then talked to him on the phone, reviewed the other responses that trickled in, and decided to go with Andrew, even though he wasn't as close (geographically) as some of the others. And boy am I glad I did. We decided on a plan, I left the car with him, and he did an amazing job, including overnight UV curing (something the detailer who applied the Opti-Coat to my TL did not do). Every surface, inside and out (except the "Alcantara"-like material on the doors and headliner) is protected and warrantied for 7 years. It just looks beautiful. I discovered a gem of a shop after going inside just to ask for directions. The shop was: "A Brilliant Shine", located on a tiny side street in Carmel Valley Village. The shop has a modern, spotless, and orderly edge that immediately indicates it is run by a consummate professional. It was an automobile detailing shop, but much, much more. They also do the most sophisticated level of "car wraps" ie. color changes, in addition to anything else related to car finish cleaning, repairing, and enhancement. While waiting for the owner to end a conversation with another customer, I recalled I had old scratches on my black Wrangler's door that had never been treated. When the shop owner sent off his happy customer, he came over to me. That began a 20 minute conversation about how he could take care of my stratches, but also I left with so much more. In short, I met a man generous with his time, generous with his vast knowledge of automotive finishes and how to care for them, and genuinely exceedingly nice gentleman. I found a businessman who truly puts the customer's needs ahead of "making a buck." As a result of that interaction, I left with 2 products that cut my wash and dry time in half . . . from well over an hour to wash and dry my monster black Jeep, to 30 minutes!!! And, I learned how to get a superior wash . . . and a lint free for the first time ever, dry. My Jeep has never looked so good. The secret: Andrew Reed sells the most miraculous wash pads and drying towels I've ever seen, and now used. The 12" square pad holds uddles of water and the pad sticks to one's hand like glue while you lightly loosen stuff off your paint. I still can't believe how easy that pad makes it. Then, after a thorough blowing off of most of the residual water, A wipe down with his drying towel still has me shaking my head in wonder. The towel pulls water like a vacuum, leaving not even the tiniest beads of water, and absolutely zero lint, and of course, zero micro scratches, like I learned I was imparting into my paint by using a luxury Italian cotton bath sheet. Little did I know. Why am I taking the time to write this review? Because, nice people, competent people, and generous people are getting harder and harder to find, these days, and they deserve to thrive at what they give to their customers. This little out of the way shop is hard to find, but anyone lucky enough to find it will be thankful indeed. The cost of the products I bought was so small, I tried to get Andrew to take more money, I felt so guilty after the tips he had given to me. The information he generously gave me about how to best take care of my car, was priceless. He refused to take a penny more for the bargain priced products he should be charging more for, in my opinion. Anyone who is seriously concerned about how their car's paint looks should beat a path to "A Serious Shine". You will surely be impressed with its owner, Andrew Reed. I've been working with Andrew and A Brilliant Shine (ABS) for a few years now. I found him online as a traveling auto detailer that could come to our business and wash, wax and detail our vehicles. DAMN! That's all I could say when I saw my car after Andrew was done with it. My '47 Chrysler had a 40 year old paint job that required an expert hand. Andrew (the owner) was very easy to work with, he goes way out of his way to make sure you have everything you need and want and will go above and beyond to do it at your convenience. I have had all sorts of work done but I will start with the NANO CERAMIC COATING, I know I was like what? But I did my research after he talked to me about it and wow am I glad I did it, it is a coating that covers your car for a WARRANTIED 7 years and acts like the best wax job you have ever had on your car, next I got a CLEAR BRAW put on the hood, front bumper and mirrors to protect against bugs rocks etc when driving on the freeway, and this also is covered for 7 years and wow I cant even see it!!! Looks great, then I got my windows treated with a similar ceramic coating that lasts a year but it was great when we got that rain storm I didn't even need to use my wipers, no joke I literally didn't use my wipers and saw everything on the freeway etc.. most importantly he does all of these services with super premium products (I looked them up) at a fraction of other detail shops and dealerships!!!!! Over the years I have had a few details and other work done, Andrew will go out of his way to make sure you are taken care of, whether you need him to work on sight (your house, work, or wherever) to picking up your car so you don't have to wait around. He will work with you on price to make sure you get everything you need and nothing you don't. My experience is that he is a perfectionist, and I give him frequent business so he generally does much more than he is asked to do, to say thank you for your business. All and all he and his shop get 5 stars hands down. For those looking for restoration, or who have very expensive or old vehicles he has tons of pictures and references that will show you some of the work he has done on vintage cars and exotics like Ferraris!!! After much research I had Andrew (A Brilliant Shine) Opti-coat my Tesla S. He did an amazing job and it looks incredible and really works! However the most important part of the story is his customer service. He not only responded promptly to every call but also did an after visit (apparently standard for him) to see how I was doing and give me advice on all things caring for the Tesla inside and out. He provided me with important information about how to treat windows (can't find it anywhere in Tesla documentation), provided product recommendations (he didn't try to sell them to me just told me where to get them online) and went well beyond any after care support I could predict including helping me recover from very hard water hitting my car (oh my the damage it can do and immediately visible) and taking the time to correct that on the spot. Additionally he directed me to a product that would easily solve my problem and a source. This man loves making cars beautiful and being helpful. There may be someone better but I seriously doubt I will ever experience this kind of customer care again! My husband and I recommend him without reservation and are glad to answer any all questions.
