We left our dog, Winston, here while we took a 4 day trip. They did a few things well, like everyday they sent us pictures of him playing with other dogs, and running around. But ultimately I wouldn't leave him there again. The dogs sleep in a concrete kennel that looks identical to a shelter, and Winston's a rescue, so he looked miserable when we left. When we picked him up he was really muddy and we took him to get a bath that day. He seemed pretty angry at us for a few days, and just not like himself. I'm not sure if this is unique to him because of his past or if it's something else. If your dog is used to loud environments, this may be a great place for you. But if you have a rescue, or if your pup is especially sensitive, I'd recommend hiring a pet sitter instead. read more

I repeatedly use A Better Dog Kennel for boarding my baby, Ruckus, and I am NEVER disappointed. I've even started to notice that Ruckus gets excited when we arrive there. We all feel bad when we have to board our dogs, but when a dog actually gets excited to be somewhere, you know they are well taken care of in your absence. I highly recommend this facility for boarding and day care. It's always clean and the staff is super friendly. Sometimes they posts pics of your pooch on Facebook, which I love seeing while I'm away. And they even give you a doggy report card when you pick up so that you know how your dog ate, slept, interacted with the staff and other dogs. It's amazing! Wow is all I can say. Such a great place. My dogs go for boarding and daycare. I trust them with my dogs. There are very clean and organized. I have seen other kennels in the area that don't even compare to A Better Dog. They take such good care of my girls. They have a great crew that I trust. They go out of their way to make their stay fun yet safe. They have no problem administering medicine if needed. My dogs have boarded over the weekend and up to a week. They post pictures daily so you can see how much fun your dogs have. They also have a huge pool on site in case your dog loves to swim. Being cheap, I'm constantly looking for a less expensive dog boarding option. I found Better Dog on the interwebs and saw a couple good reviews on their facebook so I thought what the heck for our last weekend trip. The most important thing is that my dogs did come home safe and unharmed - my minimum expectations were met. But the rest of my experience was very underwhelming. The phone rings and rings when you call. The staff doesn't seem happy to be there. They have short pick up/drop off hours. And this leads me to my rant. We picked up on a Sunday - first we attempted to stop on our way home but they were closed (Sunday hours are only 4-6). So we go back home and come back later during that window. Well when I pick them up I find out there's a full night charge if you don't pick up before 1:00 pm. Wait a sec, they aren't open before 1:00 - how could I pick them up then? "That's just the owner's rule." Oh ok, great rule. So I had to pay for an extra night since I didn't pick them up when they weren't open. Was I supposed to break in? Maybe next time. Just be aware of this if you pick up on a Sunday - you have to pay for an extra day. Wish they would have told me when I made my reservation or when I dropped them off so I was prepared. read more

I wish there was a 7 star option! We have an epileptic Keeshond that suffers from cluster seizures. They can strike at any time (3-4 times per month), and without treatment he could go into "status" which is a nonstop seizure that could kill him. My wife and I are both educators. Needless to say, we are not wealthy people. The emergency vet offers medical boarding at $30/day... that is $600/month. No way we could afford that. We contacted A Better Dog Kennel and explained our situation. They were very compassionate and NOT intimidated by his needs. We made an appointment to visit and tour the facility. TOP NOTCH. They also arranged to have our veterinarian visit. She gave them high marks. We were very comfortable signing our boy up to attend. They have a 30 days for $400 package. This breaks down to about $13/day... less than half than medical boarding. They will administer his regular meds and treat his seizures should they occur. All this at no additional charge. Also, our dog spends the day playing with other pups and comes home happy (and exhausted). We have been blessed to find these fine folks. We cannot recommend them enough. read more

When we left our dog here, the staff seemed nice and our dog seemed perfectly happy. However, after we picked him up and brought him home, he started throwing up and having diarrhea. He also had a bite mark below his leg! I do not recommend this place at all. I would give zero stars if I could. read more

No way would I leave my dog here - not even for a day. We made an appointment several weeks ago prior to going out of town. When we arrived that morning, the woman behind the counter was downright rude to us while she welcomed the "regulars" cheerfully. I brought our dog's proof of shots and she acted as though we were just downright unwelcome. Our dog was taken back to the kennels while she finished up checking her in. I was in shock when she told us that our dog couldn't stay there due to missing shots. We scrambled to call our vet to send over proof, but they were closed. She hollered at a worker to get our dog while I frantically looked for a place to take her to get the shots necessary (she had them, but again, I was missing what what they required on paper). While I respect and understand the need for that, her mean demeanor just over the top. As the worker went to bring out our dog, he yelled at the top of his lungs and cursed, "Shut the F up!!!" to the dogs in the kennel who were barking (as dogs do). Right then and there we knew that we were not leaving her there. It was by the grace of God that we found other accommodations for her at the last minute. Given the hostility, we would have feared for our dog's well-being. read more

I moved to the area and was recommended this place from another dog owner, I boarded with them 3 times with all three of my dogs ranging form 2-4 nights. But never again! Every single time the people there seemed clueless and it was always a new person who either didn't know how to work their system, where they could find forms or they had to call the owner to ask a question on what to do (keep in mind this is for check ins and check outs) and the owner usually never answered so the first time I didn't sign the form they needed me to in the end. I thought for my three dogs the price was very cheap for dog boarding, as I moved from California where it was very pricey to board all three dogs. In the end the cheap price matches the incompetent people who work there and I do not believe my dogs were in the best care. The 1st time we boarded them, they over charged me for one night and I had to figure that out on my own, the lady couldn't do the math and then she had no idea how to refund me the money, that should have been the first red flag. They decided to give me a credit instead of refunding the money back. The 3rd time, the same lady that overcharged me was there when I picked up the dogs, it took her 20 minutes to go get the dogs and she couldn't even put their harness on them and I could not figure out why it took so long to put a harness and leash on three dogs who were ready to go home. Not to mention when we picked them up they were covered in pee and poop, showing that they were not cared for/their kennel had not been cleaned in some time. I tried to give this place a try but you get what you pay for, if you want your dogs locked in a cage and barely cared for, they will feed them and do the MINIMUM. I am choosing to pay more and take them to a place where I can ensure that my dogs are not neglected and are taken care of by people who can actually give them the amount attention they need and take care of them appropriately. BEWARE of this place, I will never go back! read more

My family and I dropped our dog off before heading out for our Christmas vacation. Before I booked, I let them know that Maizey LOVES people, but is very anxious and reactive around other dogs. I was assured that they could accommodate and make arrangements for her to be isolated from the rest of the dogs... so I booked her a spot. When we dropped her off, I noticed Deborah (who I found out later is the manager) assigned her to be between 2 barking, howling dogs. When she returned, I informed her that I was assured that Maizey would be separated. She told me, "that's the best place for her...besides I just let her out with the other dogs and she was just fine". I immediately felt uneasy and AGAIN stressed to her that she is reactive around other dogs...we got her from a shelter and the shelter (who had her for a year) informed us of this and this is what we have seen and experienced ourselves over the past 6 months. Her response was, "well, that's because she's feeding off of you"...as if any dog owner wants their dog to be anxious around other dogs. Then she said: "it looks like she's put her past behind her, I think you should too". So while a dog owner wants nothing more than to feel like their dog is in good hands while they're away, I spent the next 2 days worrying about Maizey. It wasn't until I called them the 2nd day we were away and they said, "yeah we had to put Maizey solo because she's very anxious around other dogs, so now when she goes out it's just her and another person", that I felt relieved. When we picked her up, Deborah had to nerve to say to us "yeah Maizey showed out!" Really?? I am not sure why she decided to disregard what we said...if I had to guess they don't have a reputation for totally disregarding owner's instructions or they wouldn't have much business. I also found it very interesting that when we were picking Maizey up, another family was checking their dog in...and when they told her the dog was aggressive, she was completely receptive and did not challenge them at all. Also... since Maizey has returned from there, she has been pooping in her crate, which she NEVER does. I will NEVER book with them again and I regret choosing them for Maizey's first boarding experience. The one star is because I had to pick something. read more

Have taken my lab here on many occasions for daycare and boarding. He really enjoys going - gets excited when we pull into parking lot. It's a top notch facility that's always clean. The staff there is always Professional and Caring. Was concerned at first about him going as he has shown aggression toward other dogs. Negligence, that's the first word that comes to my mind when I describe the experience my dog had to go through the last visit to this kennel. I left my jack russell at this facility with the understanding that she would be professionally taken care of, but that did not happen. My dog was attacked by another dog in their care during their daycare program and they did not bring my dog to the Veterinary hospital until 11:30 pm, the night of the attack, also that was the approximate time I received a call notifing me of the attack. My dog suffered the better part of the day without treatment. Needless to say my dog's eyelid (yes my dog was bit over the eye) was swollen and draining pus and blood by the time I picked her up the following morning. The employee there had the nerve to say that the wound looked worse then it was! And this same employee had the nerve to try an imply that my dog's high pick bark may have provoked the dog that attacked my dog! Do you believe that? I immediately brought my dog to her vet that same day and she had to have a drain and stiches placed which resulted in additional expense. But you know it's not about the money because I would pay any amount toward her health, it's about the lack of care and blatant disregard for my pet's wellbeing. Never again!! read more

My German Sheppard can be a pain sometimes and they are always very eager to help out however they can to make him feel more comfortable while staying at the kennel. This kennel is a bunch of crooks. I have used this kennel before in the past and they charged by the nights. I dropped my dogs off at 4pm on a Thursday and I picked them up on Sunday at 4pm. They charged me for 4 nights even though it was exactly 72 hrs. The guy stated that they run their business like a hotel and charge by the day not the night. Well every time I have stayed at a hotel they charge by the nights. This was a scam to make more money on decent people. I will never have my dogs stay here again and I will advise from anyone using this dog kennel. read more
