I absolutely love this spa! I've always loved receiving massages and being pampered. I firmly…read morebelieve in the benefits of spa treatments, seeing it as an essential routine in my life. However, I've always found it quite bothersome to commute somewhere to have a massage or any other service done. I mean, who really wants to get in their car, drive to a location to relax and be pampered, only to have to get dressed and drive back home? I'm convinced all my relaxation and "zen" from the massage would be gone by the time I return home and be replaced with the daily stress I feel. That is why I absolutely love this spa and it's idea of being a mobile spa! I have a massage done every 2 weeks to help with neck/back ache. I have it done with the same masseuse as I am a regular client and I adore her! She always arrives on time, quickly sets up her massage table on her own in my living room, washes her hands and then allows me to come lie down. She brings all her equipment with her as expected, including body oil, sheets and hot rocks. When she leaves, I feel completely refreshed and relaxed, and I usually like to drink something warm while lying down and watching TV afterwards. Being able to stay in your own home and continue to be in this relaxed mindset is something that completely eats away my stress. I believe the review written previously in 2012 is a poor representation of the company, especially presently in 2019, and more so of an unfortunate experience with some rather rude and lazy estheticians. To be clear, this is a mobile spa, meaning the estheticians will be coming to your home to perform the service. As a mobile spa available throughout Canada, Spa Smart personally hires estheticians based in your location for your needs and they should be fully licensed; perfectly capable of providing services to clients. In the case of this client, her estheticians had no prior experience with an at-home spa party, and handled the situation rather unprofessionally when usually, environment should not have an affect on the estheticians' professional skill. They showed up unprepared without the necessary equipment to perform a full mani/pedi and were lazy with their work. I would urge that instead of writing an angry review on Yelp that does nothing but hinder a growing business with good intentions that you instead call their customer service to resolve the issue. Knowing myself that their team is very friendly and passionate, they would have solved the issue immediately by sending a refund or other form of reimbursement for the poor inadequate experience as well as ensuring that no other client receives treatment from said estheticians. The people behind this company truly believe in spa benefits and the idea of mobile spa, and the last thing they would want is for their clients to have an inadequate spa experience. To anybody who has been scared off by that review: Don't be. It was written in 2012, heavily outdated, and it was one client's bad experience. The company has grown a lot since then and fixed many of it's learning mistakes (which is normal with a new, growing business), screening their estheticians more carefully and ensuring that clients receive the best experience possible. My family and friends use this spa as well after referral from me and I have not heard any complaints from them, only thank yous :)

I am writing this review in the hopes that other people will steer clear of this business. I was…read morerecently in a bridal party and we decided a spa day would be a perfect stagette party for the bride. Spa Smart provides mobile spa service, and we decided to book the spa treatments at the bride's house so we could eat and talk during the afternoon. The company contacted us individually and we were required to pre-pay for our selected services, either by emailing them our credit card number or by going through PayPal. I was immediately uneasy about the email asking for my credit card information, so I did a PayPal payment. I ordered a 120 minute manicure/pedicure combo and a one hour sports massage ($109 + tax each). The day of the spa party, five women arrived to do our manicures and pedicures, and we were surprised that none of them were Spa Smart employees, and none of them had met each other before. The women worked out of their homes and came with varying equipment; one said that Spa Smart answered her "for hire" ad on Kijiji, and none had ever done an at home spa party before. The quality of the manicures and pedicures was poor, at best, for the whole group, and my experience in particular was only 40 minutes - far short of the 120 minutes I paid for. The woman who did my nails did not soak, clean or exfoliate my hands, and when I asked for a French manicure, she didn't have any nail polish colors in her bag to do so. After borrowing some polish from another woman there, she did her best to paint my nails. She complained the entire time how difficult it was, and the end result looked like she had painted my nails with Whiteout; it was thick, uneven and clumpy. It looked awful, especially since she didn't treat any of the hangnails or dry skin on my hands. My pedicure couldn't really be called a pedicure. The woman asked me to put my feet on her knees and simply painted my nails - nothing else! No treatment or soaking of my feet or cleaning of my nails. After she left I saw that there was polish on my toes and one nail was missing a second coat. I was appalled that having my nails painted on someone's knees was what I paid for. Both treatments were of such poor quality I was terribly disappointed. The massage I received was performed by an older man, with the table set up in a bedroom. He made me uncomfortable, which is just my personal feeling, and I couldn't wait for the massage to be over. He also confused my health release form with another girl's form, and asked me questions that indicated he had read the wrong form for my massage. I also asked for a back and shoulder massage, which barely received any attention. I do admit it was my responsibility to be more insistant during the massage, and I didn't do so, but I also feel I shouldn't have had to. After the party a couple of us girls contacted the company to ask for a partial refund because our services were so bad, and they sent us an email that told us that since we didn't stop service at the time, we have no right to complain it was poorly done. They said "we sell the experience, not the service". Their website states that you can only get a refund if you cancel 7 days prior to the spa party, and I wanted to cancel my massage after meeting the therapist, but I was afraid I would be out $115 with no avenue to get it back. We are now going through the Better Business Bureau to try and get a partial refund, but I am not hopeful anything will come of it. Please don't waste your time or money with this company!

I decided to see Dr. Lena Kim, because she has good credentials, and her office is located on 124th street, so it was easy for me to get there. It's not cheap to see a naturopath. I can't quite remember how much my visit was, but the first time must have cost me over a $100--this is for a 55 minute session. Any visit after that is around $60, and they do give student discounts. Before I went, I had to fill out quite a few pages of paperwork about my medical history. When I met Lena Kim she was really nice. I really got the sense that she was interested in helping me. She didn't just want to prescribe me something or tell me to take something. She was genuinely concerned and motivated to help me feel better. After we spoke, and she got a sense of what my needs were, she did a number of muscle testings on me. I didn't know what this was, and I felt rather odd and skeptical, while she was doing it. First, she had me hold my arm straight out. Then she had me hold jars with different herbs in them. For each jar, she would press on my arm. The idea is that if I could resist the pressure, my body needs the herb. If I cannot resist the pressure, my body doesn't need it or is allergic to it. After the testing she gave me a sheet of paper with all the things I need to eat or take and when I need to take them. She had some suggestions of some vitamins and herbs I should buy from her. She was really sensitive to the fact that I didn't have a lot of money, so she suggest I just buy one or two, and she even suggested places I could get some of the things cheaper! She also gave me many print-outs, like on skin brushing and deep breathing, that were really helpful. Her suggestions really did help a lot, but unfortunately I didn't have the money to keep seeing her. When I can afford it again though, I will definitely go back.
