After having a rather large dinner late last month, I was heading home and needed a beverage. I did a search and found this A&W on Warden Avenue, on the east side, just north of Ellesmere Avenue. I pulled out my app. There was an offer for a fountain drink for $1 with a minimum $1 purchase. Cool! I got the following items: - Diet root beer - Apple pie I paid through the app. I then drove over to the drive-thru. The entrance gets you to both Tim Hortons on the left and A&W on the right. You basically drive all the way down and hang a right for the latter. At the order area, I had the nicest person on the other end. I pointed out that I had an order through the A&W app. He confirmed that he had it and said that I could drive up. This man was nice, professional, and friendly. He confirmed my name. He then handed me my drink and apple pie. I wished him a good evening. He reciprocated. I drove home, enjoying my goodies along the way. They made the drive home enjoyable. I love root beer. The diet root beer was so good. It was full of flavour and body. It was cold and yummy. So refreshing, including the price! Wanna know a secret? The apple pie is amazing at A&W. It's the cinnamon sugar on the outside of this fried, crispy masterpiece that makes it special. It's not overly sweet, but it gives you the perfect amount of sweetness and cinnamon kick to balance out the generous apple filling. It can be a little messy to eat, but it's worth it. My go-to drive thru location, today I dropped in for a spicy haberno chicken combo because you can sub out the bread bun for a lettuce wrap! I stepped in and was pleased to see ... That this local has some easily accessible sinks big people, and baby sizes ... In this day of age, I appreciate that addition. read more

I came here during the free root beer day !! Woohoo for free stuff ! The root was decent but I heard having it in a mug taste 100% times better. Unfortunately, during a free event they can't give it to us in a mug which we wanted to try. I also ordered their buddy burger ($1.99) which was essentially a hamburger. Wowww! I'm so shocked by the freshness and the bun was so soft!! They also give you caramelized onions not the raw ones. The service was actually pretty decent despite being so busy with the free root beer. Located just south of Warden and 401 and a bit north of Costco, this A&W is clean and spacious. Service is very friendly and fast. But drumroll please! Look what is a part of A&W menu permanently! The BEYOND (Meatless) Burger is here!! My BF and I usually do not go for fast food, but this burger was the BEST thing that we had in the longest while. If we did not come specifically for this meatless burger, I could have easily tricked him into thinking that this is a normal burger with a beef patty! Well done, A&W!! Officially my fave go-to fast food chain and only one I will proudly support from now on! The fries were not too oily and it came with chipotle sauce and not the regular ketchup. Root beer was light and too sweet. The entire combo with sweet potato friends and their signature root beer cost exactly $22.22 after tax. Not bad for a feel good meal for 2! It did not feel like fast food at all and it sure was 110% delicious as advertised!! I still cannot believe how far we have come as a society to have a plant based burger that tastes and feels like meat without harming any animals!! Major props!! Everyone in the line ordered the beyond burger when I was there! Looking good! Would definitely come back for the occasional cravings!! It's been ages since we've dined at A&W, but we were in the area and decided to give it a shot. The burgers "looked" great but were dry. Really dry :( The only saving grace were the fries which were crispy. The onion rings were okay. Nice presentation, but we personally prefer Wendy's. read more

The location is about 200 metres south of Hwy 401 on Warden Avenue. It's seldom very busy each time I've stopped here, usually for breakfast. I'm using a coupon to get a free 20 ounce A&W Root Beer with the purchase of Onion Rings $4.69. My meal total was $5.30 tax in. The order and fulfilment process was smooth and quick. There's plenty of indoor seating at tables, bar counter seats or you can go out to the front patio and watch the traffic while dining under A&W umbrellas. Indoor, top 40 music filled the air and there's free Wifi. This place is clean and also has a drive-thru. I looked at the food facts on the backside of my tray liner and the rings weighed in at 520 calories but I didn't care. THE RINGS ARE REAL ONIONS! Add to this a very good batter and I was grinning from ear to ear. Most places make rings from just onion flour so this was worth the effort to stop here. Pretty standard A & W. This is the only A & W close to work. Quality is always consistent and the restaurant is clean. Good and fast service. I always recommend their beef burgers. While the staff is friendly and courteous otherwise this location is a disaster. The owner is rude and has no respect for customers and the food quality is worse than most locations, particularly the beef burgers which are dry and taste like something that had been in your freezer for 6 months. With so many better options at a better price in the area, I wouldn't be surprised to see this location close soon. The only time they have customers is after 2am when all the drunks from the bar next door come in, since its 24 hours. If you're looking for a restaurant location that makes McDonalds look like a 5 star and at a price well higher than other fast food spots than this is the spot for you. read more

Came to support as $2 from every teen burger supported MS today. I ordered the teen burger with poutine and hubby had the double teen burger with sweet potato fries as they ran out of onion rings. The restaurant is always clean and staff are polite. Late night in Scarborough so passed by the 24 Hours A&W on Warden & Hwy 401. We have been seeing a lot of A&W ads stating that they do not use any steroids, hormones or preservatives in their food which adds to the value of the product. We went in the drive-thru and ordered a Papa Burger, Medium Fries and 2 Chipotle Chicken Wraps. When we got home, we tore open our greasy grub and chowed down. Verdict: Papa Burger (2 patties) was A-OK. I have had better because it was a tad on the dry side. I had to add a bit more ketchup and grated my own cheddar cheese to make it a little bit more wet and yummy tasting. Also, it was $5.25 + tax which is a bit hefty for a medium sized burger. No hormones, right? Medium Fries (Russet Potatoes) - These were pretty bad. They were soggy as hell! I don't mind a tad soggy like Swiss Chalet fries but still, blah! They may have been undercooked which would been a big factor. Chiptole Chicken - This was my wife's order. She said, "Good". That's it. It all depends who is frying up the food and how long it has been sitting there. It was during the later hours. It is good that it is open 24 hours in case you have a late night craving. read more

Absolutely terrible. I know A&W usually isn't like this, because the many other locations I have visited were all just fine. We ordered 2 sandwiches without tomatoes, to go. When she handed them to me, I asked her, "Are there tomatoes in this?" She confirmed that they did not have tomatoes. When I got home, they did in fact have tomatoes. Not even a big deal, we just took them out; disappointing nonetheless. My burger had a hair in it. I know it didn't belong to me because my hair isn't a foot and a half long. The burger made me mildly ill, and my brother's made him severely sick. Worst experience I've had with any A&W. I won't be going back, and I suggest take your business elsewhere. read more

I love A&W. All of them. Out of all the fast food chains, they are my favourite. This location is just as good as all the others, PLUS they have a 24-hour drive thru!! This makes me sad, but also really glad, that I don't live closer. Like most locations, this one is clean and the service is pretty good. You get your root beer in a giant, frosty glass if you're eating in. The food is the same as all the other locations, just bad enough for you to be considered junk food, but not so bad that you feel like you ate a trojan horse full of acid and food poisoning. Ever since I found out they serve breakfast sans breakfast sandwhich I've been coming back whenever I need a hardy meal before driving off to do weekend errands. The meals can be slightly warmer but under $10 the serving size and real eggs and real tomatoes on the side really make it worthwhile. I've been getting the 3 cheese omelette when I don't feel like loading up on meat first thing is the morning. Comes with 2 slices of toast, friend hash brown and 2 slices of tomatoes. I usually order their freshly squeezed orange juice too and it's awesome they serve it in their frosted mugs! If you want a break/change from that Ikea breakfast try this joint out! read more

A&W has terrible business practices. I stopped with a friend today for a quick dinner and we each bought an uncle burger with a combo. I used a 3.49 uncle burger coupon but I didn't realize that I was charged full price for the fries and soft drink. Apparently if you use a coupon you don't get the combo discount. But nowhere in the restaurant did it state that the combo is not available when coupons are used. This is quite misleading and even the staff agreed. One cashier said they always get complaints about this issue but there is nothing they can do. This is not about the dollar that I was overcharged but it is All about the PRINCIPAL. read more
