I've always wanted to try A&W and finally got to do so today. As soon as I saw the place it was giving me 80's vibes with the colorway and when I walked in they had 80's tunes playing in the background. The employees were super friendly and had jokes! Great interactions. It was super spacious so we found a booth and waited for our food. The first bite I took out of my crispy bacon onion burger was incredible. One thing I have to be honest about is their fries, it would have been perfect but it was a bit too salty for my liking. Nonetheless, our experience was great and we will definitely dine in again! 2 stars for location and classic nostalgia. But that's it. I regret coming here. I've literally had the time to write this review after waiting 5 minutes for my food and it still not here. I'm about to finish this review before I get my food. How and why do you have a drive through when clearly, this is no fast food. I also got bamboozled with their "daily" specials that wasn't special because I added cheese and it negated all the discounts for this "special". We stopped for gas at Sam's club and the lines were long. I saw A&W and offered to jump out and grab dinner for us while David waited and filled up the tank. I'm legally blind, so when I get a huge amount of help with an unfamiliar menu I am so charmed and happy. This was above and beyond with patience and assistance. But wait! There's more!! Yes, tell the readers that the whole staff seemed to radiate decency and kindness. The woman who made my float made a sudsy overflow into a fun event. A&W was a staple of my parents era and I hadn't been to one since I was a baby girl. This experience has me looking forward to my next visit. read more

Cheeseburger average, cheese curds is the best item on menu. I'm just really upset at the penny pinching they do. They charge me $.25 for one ketchup packet. Kind of ridiculous. And if you want additional sauces, it's $.50 per container. The burger is expensive as it is & additional unnecessary fees for ketchup. I've never been to a place that charges for a ketchup packets. This is our family's newest favorite place. There's nothing more American than a Root Beer Float - and this place does it best. And if you don't want a Float but just want Root Beer, you'll find it at the soda fountain - which is rare to see these days! The food is remarkably good. Don't compare this place to fast food spots like MCD or Burger King! The quality of the food is superior. The Papa Double Cheese Burger with Bacon is my #1 choice. The Cheese Curds are A+++ Everything tasted super fresh and perfectly cooked and hot! There's a nice outdoor patio area. This place has so much positive energy! Probably the color ORANGE througout! Placed an order online. Went to pick up at drive thru. They told me I had to come inside to get the order. The question is, what is the difference if you hand my order to me at the counter or through the drive thru window? It makes no sense. I'm handicapped, and it is not easy to just jump out and go inside. That is why I use apps to order and go to the drive thru. I told the person at the drive thru I was handicapped. That didn't help. Still had to go inside to get my order. One star for the service part of it. Food was good. No complaints there. read more

I was surprised this place was in Addison. Never noticed it before. It took over the Burger King by Sam's club. Service was very good. Very helpful and others were cleaning the tables and seating area. Food came out pretty quick. Burgers were good! Tenders were good! Root beer cream freeze was delicious! It wasn't too busy so we were in and out without a problem. For a fast food place it got a 5 from me! read more

Great food and great service! Bright and clean restaurant. The strawberry shake was tasty! The burgers, fries, and onion rings were outstanding! Tasted like it was made fresh. I have only used the drive through so I cannot comment on the interior or service provided from there. There were three people in the car and our order was not very large nor was it especially complicated; fries, a cheeseburger without a few condiments, another normal burger, chicken fingers, cheese curds, and 3 floats. If you want a quick and decent root beer float, this is the place, however they use soft serve ice cream in their floats. I made a fairly normal assumption that they would be using regular scoop ice cream. I suppose that is my fault since I was thinking about floats I get from sit-down restaurants, ice cream shops, and the A&W's from the 80's. This is a fast food place so I should have known better. The soft serve melted a bit too quickly for my taste which in turn diluted the soda more than scoop ice cream would have. All things considered, this took care of a craving well enough. Due to me being at the drive through it came in a styrofoam cup. Not wild about the use of SF cups but not sure of a better alternative. The cheese curds were really good as long as you ate them quick while they were still hot. The chicken fingers were just ok; slightly dry & bland. The burgers were only slightly warm. One cheeseburger was ordered without ketchup or mustard. Guess what we got? A hamburger (no cheese) with ketchup and mustard only. They got it totally backwards. The fries were soaked with grease. Even the kid in the car who loves fries would not touch them. The drive through service was a bit slower than expected, especially since there was nobody ahead of us. The employee sounded like they were not completely 'there'. They were lagging worse than 90's dial-up internet. Little to no acknowledgement through the entire process. It felt like we were talking to ourselves when we asked a few questions. Everyone in the car started laughing because it was so bad. Verdict: If I am already in the area like getting gas at Sam's, and also have a craving for a float and don't have the ingredients at home, I will consider stopping by. It is doubtful I will get food there again. read more

We watched and waited for this one to open, we used to like the one in woodfied, my husband and son and I all enjoyed the food it was really good, i read other reviews that said cheese curds were better at culvers. I disagree the cheese curds here are really good the only thing i wasn't crazy about was the rootbeer it was weak in flavor not as good as it should be, i grew with a&w rootbeer almost always on hand at home read more

This place is great. Tastes exactly like A&W did when I was a kid. It's a really good fast food burger. Better than McDonald's, BK, and Wendy's. Definitely give it a shot. read more

We had an issue with our food not being delivered. But management called is personally and took care of the issue.

I went to location on Thursday 10/10 and got there before 9:40 PM, 20 mins before closing. I pulled up to the drive thru window for about 5 minutes I waited there and suddenly someone turned the lights off from the drive thru menu board. I pulled forward to the drive thru window to see what was going on and noted no one was there. I waited a few minutes to see if I saw anyone and after about a minute a lady came out from the side. I think she was surprised to see me there as she looked startled (probably thinking I would of drove off already). I then asked her if they were still open and she said they are closed. I then asked her about the online hours showing at 10 pm and she said "we're allowed to close early". I understand it is the end of the day and it's a slow night but incredibly frustrating if the website and store hours show 10 and I made a decent drive to get there just to be told it's closed and no indication of that anywhere else. The lights on the outside of the restaurant still had "open" lights on. Felt that she was purposely not trying to deal with anymore customers. read more

Such a sweet experience today. Took the grandbaby toddlers in to have their first float, while Mom waited in the car with the sleeping baby. We ordered her a float too. Not thinking when they asked if it was for here I said yes, and although the kids came in paper cups the one for mommy was in glass. I explained my goof and asked them to dump into a cup and they said no it would ruin it - and allowed us to take the mug out to her in the car. The manager helped me wrangle the littles and all our drinks to get it to her before we went back in to enjoy ours in the booth. The manager even felt bad mom was missing out and took her coupon for a cone when he retrieved the mug. Lastly, the grandson got to place his first order by himself when we got a gallon to go for PopPop and proudly pay. Never encountered so many great employees in one place to my memory.
