From day one, I had to slam it in order for it to stay closed. Then last summer I got rear-ended and had to slam it even harder. I had a feeling my trunk latching days were numbered and that I'd have to deal with it sooner rather than later. That moment came that fateful Saturday last month when no amount of slamming worked. I had packing tape on hand so I secured my trunk the best that I could and started looking for nearby body shops. My hopes were low because auto repair shops of most types (other than the Jiffy Lubes of the world) tend to be closed on weekends (why is that???). However, Google told me that Daly City Auto Body Center was OPEN this Saturday. I zipped over and pulled in. About 5 minutes later, Michael came over and listened to my sad story. I felt guilty because he was obviously busy but he seemed interested in solving the long-running mystery of my difficult trunk. After testing all sorts of hydraulic tools, he popped his head up and said he could fix it for $60. SOLD. Literally minutes later, my decades-long problem was solved. WHY did I wait so long?

I have to say that I've been going through a lot lately and my faith in the kindness of this world sometimes wavers although I do my best to be kind to others. It's people like the ones at G&M Auto Body that restore my faith in humanity. I ended up stuck right across the street from them (in the middles of the road) right after work on my way to get gas not realizing how low I was and the car stopped. Dave (I found his name out later because I went back to thank them again) came out and asked if he could help push my car to the side and I thanked him very much and asked him If he could please help me. He went and got 3 more Men to help push me but the car wouldn't go into neutral, it ended up starting back up and I though I could make it to the gas station (1 1/2 blocks away at that point.) I told them I would try and got half a block before it turned off again. Miguel came back out after seeing me still there with a gas can and took my card and walked to and from the gas station for me bought gas for me and put it in as well. In the middle of the street! While I was parked there and before they helped me people were pulling up on me with my hazard lights beeping their horns and driving around me looking at me angrily and I was feeling bad because it was one more thing added to my stress in life. I am beyond grateful for their compassion and will be recommending them to anyone I know that needs car repairs etc. I'm even going to post their card at my job for my coworker. Phil is one of the kindest and most genuine people I've ever met in this industry. He always goes the extra mile, literally! There have been times when he's personally driven me, or asked one of his employees to take me to the rental car place, and when it's time to return the rental, his shop even handles that for me. Who does that anymore? That kind of care and thoughtfulness is hard to find. Over the years, I've been in a few accidents (none my fault), and every single time, Phil has made the process so easy and stress-free. My car always comes back looking brand new. He communicates clearly, finishes on time, and treats you like family, not just another customer. His staff is just as wonderful, respectful, friendly, and always willing to help. You can tell they all take pride in their work and truly care about their customers. But what really touched me was something that happened recently. This was my second time bringing my vehicle to Precision Auto Body & Detail. They have always done…read moregood work, or so I thought. Overall, the quality of their service and what they guarantee is spot on, but the attention to detail is lacking, heavily. For $400 I should be getting top-notch service. I should be the VIP of your establishment for the day! And I wasn't. Honestly, it's just simple things that shouldn't be overlooked that truly matter. What does a $400 "Complete Auto Detailing" get you? PROS: Exterior - Wash, Dry, Clay Bar, Wax, Protective Sealant, Wheel cleaning, and Tire shine. Your vehicle will glisten almost to perfection in a way that is showroom quality. Interior - As they claim, "a complete shampoo of the interior including the carpets, seats and floormats." And this is where it stops. CONS: Honor the time agreement! I booked my appointment on Tuesday 3/17 for Friday 3/20 and was told to drop my vehicle off between 8 and 8:30am. So I arrived at 815a on the day of my appointment, only to find that the front office door was locked, dark and unoccupied on the inside. It's not a good business practice to tell clients to arrive or be somewhere at a certain time and you, yourself, are not there. Exterior - No attention to detail for the small things. It's easy to spray on car washing foam and then pressure wash it off. But when you overlook the wheel wells that's an issue. The area that a spray wash just doesn't get it. Don't call yourself a "detailing shop" if you're not going to take the time to look at and address the minor details. My vehicle is White, and just like a Black car, it shows the dirt along with everything else. Had you been paying attention, you would have and should have caught this. Don't be afraid to get down on your hands and knees and put some "elbow grease" scrubbing effort into thoroughly cleaning ALL the parts that needed to be cleaned. If there's paint and clearcoat, it shouldn't be overlooked. Interior - While they also clean and wipe the door panels, dashboard or door jambs, this is where they fell short with the quality of service by my standards. My interior gas cap door was not cleaned/wiped. The engine hood was not opened nor was it wiped and cleaned either. (See pictures) It's not like I was asking for a steam cleaning of the engine bay, but nonetheless, it's a door with a crease and hinges. If your claim is "we wipe the door panels and door jambs," under the hood shouldn't have been overlooked. Again, details matter. Honestly, you didn't even try and make an attempt and it shows. The sad thing about this whole process compared to other detail shops is they don't "Deliver" your car to you. They don't walk you out to your vehicle and go over the details of everything that they did and inquire about your level of satisfaction. Because if it's not right they'll fix it. Unfortunately at Precision Auto Body & Detail you just walk in, pay, get your keys back, and then off you go. On to the next one. I've been to other auto detail shops that treat you like royalty from start to finish that are equally comparable in price. Maybe I'll spend the extra $200 somewhere else going forward, that I know for certain won't overlook the simple and minor details.
