I do not recommend Chicago Plumbing Experts. I just bought a house with my fiancé and there was a…read morehorrible smell coming from the basement. The inspector advised us as to what the issue could be and we asked Chicago Plumbing Experts to provide a quote to fix the issue. Will diagnosed the issue as being a busted P trap. He provided a quote for $3,879 to break up the concrete around the P trap, install a new P trap, hydro-jet the drain and sewer system, and "re-concrete kitchen drain/vent line assuming line is fine." As new home owners, we thought this was a fair price and we agreed to the price and the invoice, and two guys (I can't remember their names) came out to address the issue. They were 1.5 to 2 hours late and when they arrived they were unfamiliar with what services they were to be providing. We actually had to show them our copy of the invoice so they could familiarize themselves with the job they were supposed to be completing. After about an hour, they notified us that they needed to go buy some supplies. This seemed normal, but they were gone for three hours. When they returned they told us they had to go all the way to Brookfield (from Chicago) to retrieve the hydro-jet, which was supposed to have been brought with them to begin with, according to the services listed on the invoice. Now the kitchen drain. I will accept fault for accepting the wording of the invoice. We knew the kitchen drain was NOT fine, and I assumed they would fix it once they removed the concrete and confirmed that it wasn't fine. They did not fix the kitchen drain. They removed the concrete, confirmed what the inspector had already told us, and used a towel (provided by us) to fill the gapping hole around the corroded pipe. They told us they could re-concrete the drain, but it would need to be serviced in the same way as the P trap (meaning it was going to cost us another $4K to properly fix the issue because they needed to break up the concrete, install a new pipe, and re-concrete the kitchen drain). In addition to this, they decided to hydro-jet the drain and sewer system by using the stack in the basement. They broke the cap on the stack and did not have a replacement in their truck. They told my fiancé what he needed to buy and told him where to buy it. They were about to explain how to install it, but he told them he wanted to go buy the replacement cap and have them install it before they left. They told him the cap needed to be 4 inches so that's what he bought. It turned out the cap needed to be 3.75 inches so the cap my fiancé bought didn't fit. They instead filled the hole with plastic bags and said they would come back to fix it, for an additional charge. They didn't even end up using the stack to hydro-jet the drain and sewer system...they used the catch basin in the backyard. Breaking the cap on the stack was entirely preventable. We called to complain to Will after they left two holes in our basement and he told us they would be back on Monday to put a cap on the stack and to re-concrete the kitchen drain, as discussed. They did return on Monday, but they were there for less than ten minutes to put a cap on the stack and then they left. Although they were there twice, they did not clean up their mess and I had to dispose of the extra rags and their water bottles. They did correct the issue with the P trap, but it was NOT worth it. The service was very unprofessional and overpriced. Advice for new homeowners: assume NOTHING and get EVERYTHING in writing, whether you hire Chicago Plumbing Experts or someone else. Save yourself the expense and the headache.

I reached out to AA at the recommendation of someone and I will advise against anyone using them…read morefor plumbing services going forward. Context: our building has had several main line backups over the years and we started seeing signs it might happen again (water gurgling, toilet water acting strange, etc.). So, to be proactive we contacted AA Plumber to clear and scope the line. A plumber came, hydro jetted and used a borescope to verify the line is clear. Well just a day or 2 later the toilets were gurgling and foul odors were coming up through the shower drains. So, I contacted AA and they assured us it was most likely a venting issue and is no immediate concern. Well a few days later the sewage backed up so we did end up having to call an emergency plumber. They (the emergency plumbers) were shocked that AA hydro jetted when there was no cleanout (jetting from a toilet access can cause water to flood back into the unit) also AA did not use a plumbing camera just a 9ft sink drain borescope so there was no way they verified the line was clear. Anyways the emergency plumbers believed AA either just moved the blockage down the pipe or never actually cleared the line all the way to the city sewage line (I certainly did not see them run more than a couple feet of line). After the line was cleared by the emergency plumbers (which was a premium and what I was trying to avoid in the first place by contacting AA) I asked them for some form of refund due to incomplete/unsatisfactory service but they refused to offer any reimbursement. I don't know if they are licensed plumbers and are obviously not using the proper equipment to do a quality job. I would advise anyone avoid these folks if you are looking for a plumber in Chicago, there are plenty of other options out there to choose from so find someone else.

Recently our basement flooded with water when there was a gigantic super cell storm. Mike came to help very quickly after we reached out to him, despite being swamped with tons of other similar complaints. He quickly addressed a huge range of issues ranging from cleaning and cameraing our sewer line to closing our stack drain, fixing our flooded out water heater, helping us with our boiler and radiators (which suddenly weren't working just as it started to get cold out), and more. Mike's honest and fair. He tells you what really needs fixing, what can wait, and is able to think creatively about solutions to save money/maximize value. It feels great knowing we have an honest contractor rooting for us instead of trying to squeeze us. In a sea of overpromising, overpriced plumbers, Mike stands out above the rest. 5 star work and service for sure!

I found this previous HVAC work through looking up Lucid Design and Development under the company's phone number 847-602-9411. He also does concrete work under Uribe Concrete & Epoxy. I hired the owner Fernando Carrasco and his partner Lupe Uribe for a concrete sidewalk in April 2025. I put a down payment down by check for $1,230 on a $4,100 job and they did no work at all and never came back. Months of texts and emails were not answered. Finally, when they were answered, there were just excuses. After getting the police involved, I was given half of the money back 9 months later. A detailed list of bogus charges was withheld, all while doing zero work at all. I got about half of my down payment back. Fernando and Lupe are liars, and very dishonest people and you should avoid their services, whether it's cement, HVAC, or just pure honesty. It is a shame he is allowed to run a company. (This was my original message....read below for the update)…read moreThe quality of work is A+. So why the low rating? I bought a LivingSocial deal for $69 and the deal says: Air Duct Cleaning for Unlimited Vents, Main Line, and Dryer Vent, Plus a Furnace Inspection. Fernando insisted that "Air Duct Cleaning" was their name. I ended up paying over $350 for a whole house (unlimited) duct cleaning (air duct cleaning!!). Wasn't THAT the deal for $69?? Ask anyone, even $350 + $69 is an EXCELLENT deal for duct cleaning and I understand it's a lot of work. They were at our house for over 4 hours, BUT...clarify that on the voucher. I looked at the small print too...no mention of this. I wrote that message above before I tried to correct things through Living Social. Living Social said they said they charged me an "additional fee" because of the way my ducts were routed. So I told LS: Now I REALLY know they're not on the level. They NEVER mentioned anything about how the vents were routed. It's not like they're in spirals. The LivingSocial deal was $69. They charged me an additional $364 to do exactly what it said on the LivingSocial deal: Air Duct Cleaning for Unlimited Vents, Main Line, and Dryer Vent, Plus a Furnace Inspection Now, an "additional fee", for example, is what they charged me to CLEAN the furnace. That was $40. I understand that logic. My complaint is that the title of the deal is: Air Duct Cleaning for unlimited vents. They charged me $9.50/vent to clean then an additional $2/vent to sanitize. I may be $.50 off here on one of those estimates. How is that for " unlimited vents"? I could even see the $2 being an "additional fee". Not the $9.50/vent. I had over 27 vents in the house! I figured that would be incorporated in the "unlimited". Again, when I showed the salesman the deal from Living Social, he insisted that "Air Duct Cleaning" was their name. I said I thought it was Breathe Clean Solutions. He said "Yes, and we do air duct cleaning." Saying it as though he was being condescending.

So I was referred to Terry by Michael from Mensch With A Wrench…read more I noticed my newly installed toilet (from about 1.5 years ago from a different plumber/contractor) started having a slight leak from the base. I called Terry after Mensch indicated he was no longer doing this type of service and referred him --- Teresa answered and was very polite. I indicated I was only available today (the actual day that I called) and had a narrow gap the next day. Teresa put me down for a window of 1PM to 3PM but couldn't guarantee it and said if not then hopefully the next day. Long story short she called me at 12PM to confirm they'd be coming closer to 3PM. Pat showed up with an assistant and they looked at my toilet - apparently the original plumber did not install the flange level to the floor... and it was basically floating over a wax seal and could've been leaking for who knows how long! (ergh!!) Anyway, Pat used a lot of paper-towel to try and draw out the water from around the flange which based on how much he got out it didn't seem to be seeping too much into the floor (if it did/is eventually the grout will crack around the tiles, etc) and then put a putty ring around the flange/wax ring to close the seal of the toilet. Right now - no leaks. Pat said there is a year warranty on the work. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!! Only issue for some is they didn't take card, so I gave cash. They DO take check. Pat said they will be incorporating Square-Up or some other credit card swiping device. Will update if anything else happens.
