Beware! Beware! Beware!! of this place!!!! bob the owner at A & T Automotive at 1263 Elmhurst Rd in Des Plaines is an Untrustworthy Lying LowLife Sack of u know what!! Let me Explain: I caught this turd lying to me several times. I went there because my truck was leaking power steering fluid like a sieve. Before i went to A & T Automotive I had a ASE Certified Mechanic look at it and he told me the power steering pump was bad. Unfortunately he couldn't get me in to fix it right away and this thing was leaking bad. So to my regret i stumbled on this ripoff place, A & T Automotive while driving down elmhurst road. Boy do i wish now i would have just kept driving. So any way i pull in bob takes a look at it and says "it's not the power steering pump, it's just one of the power steering hoses that's leaking I asked bob are you sure? bob says "absolutely 100% Positive! I told bob an ASE Certified Mechanic told me it was a bad power steering pump. bob replied "sounds like there just trying to take your money" Unfortunately i agree to have A & T Automotive replace the power steering hose. 3 days later I'm still leaking power steering fluid. I bring it back to A & T and bob says there was some air that worked it's way out of the line. He added some more fluid and said it should be fine. Again a few days later it's still leaking. This time bob tells me some of the power steering lines are loose and he will wrap them with teflon tape and tighten them up real good. Again it starts leaking. After spending a conciderable amount of time and money with A & T Automotive bob finally concludes that it must be the power steering pump. bob apologizes and offers to replace my power steering pump at a deep discount $240. The normal price would be around $400 for my truck. Like an idoit i agree to let him do the work. (Big Big Mistake!) To make a long story short, I get the truck back after A & T Automotive supposedly replaced the power steering pump and it's still leaking. Fed-up! I go back to the ASE Certified Mechanic and tell him that A & T Automotive say they replaced the power steering pump. He takes one look at it and says "they never replaced this pump" So i call bob at A & T automotive and he's says "B.S I ordered that pump new from the dealer! I ask bob "what dealer did you order it from?" bob say "Golf Mill Ford" I drive to Golf Mill Ford and ask the parts manager if there's a way to find out if my Auto Repair Shop ordered a power steering pump for my vehicle recently? The parts manager said "absolutely what's your Vehicle VIN number?" I give him the number and he say's " A & T Automotive never ordered a power steering pump from us" I call bob and tell him what Golf Mill Ford said and he insist he ordered the part from GMF. So i tell bob I want the receipt. bob says "I'll have to look for it!" After 3 days of giving me the run around bob finally has a sudden miraculous epiphany and says "that's right i forgot i ordered it from a parts store!" This guy is so full of it, it's sickening.... bob and A & T Automotive never replaced my power steering pump. All they did was lie and rip me off. Never have this place work on your car because they just can't be trusted. Bottom Line! read more

Stay away from this place for sure! the owner Bob is an out of work Chiropractor not an auto mechanic at all, (i found this out in court after they ruined my car) also not 1 mechanic there has any certification of any type! (despite the ASE sign that hangs outside). when they do a brake job on you vehicle and charge you for new or rebuilt parts ask to see their receipt, they wont have one because they just remove your old parts and polish them up and use them on the next guys car, which means you are getting parts off the last guys car. either way, this place is a total scam and I would highly recommend you go next door to Good Year or across the street to Midas!!! I won my case in court hands down but nobody should have to go through all that, period. read more

I have changed brakes many times but was on a business trip so sent my kid. Unfortunately, I couldn't stop a total rip off from occurring. One caliper was stuck but they tried to charge $900 but ended up charging $500 for what should have cost less than $200. I made them return the old parts according to IL law so I could check for myself, but they physically destroyed (not by accident) the caliper and the other back (good but replaced) rotor and pads had almost NO wear at all since I recently changed it. What a scam. Stay away!!! The low-ball price on the sign is to get you in to jack up your bill. read more

Any negative remarks are due to the previous owner...who was very remote, not a good customer service guy. The operation was sold back to a former partner Johnny who is the heart and soul of A & T, High credibility, High quality pricing, & quick turnaround on service. Johnny is fair on pricing; if he quotes you once the invoice will NEVER vary more than $10-$15 generally due to taxes. You go in there once, you'll be treated like gold, the man is good with people....the quality of work & reasonable costs will ensure you'll return a happy camper for the coming years. We've been taking our cars to Johnnie at A & T since 2006 and wouldn't think of going anywhere else. Had numerous problems with the so~called chain auto stores, ie: Midas, Meineke, Firestone all with generic mechanics prob not even ASE certified~absolutely horrible work from all the chain stores but once we found A & T nothing but the best~bring it there in the morning, free estimate for the work to be done and it's fixed right the first time~they do just about everything but transmissions. I rarely write negative reviews, but this place is just too awful for me not to warn others to stay away. My friend had work done there and then had to go back because they screwed up. They wouldn't even look at the vehicle, and told him to get the bleep out. Seriously, how do you treat a fellow human being - let alone a customer - that way and still sleep at nght. How these people stay in business with that kind of customer service and incompetence is beyond me. If I could rate them lower than one star, I would do so. read more

Put new rotors on my truck last month. Brought the truck there to get my brakes bled and they called me with a price of $450. Said I needed two new calipers and two new rotors. When I told him I just did my rotors he dropped the price slightly and said he couldn't bleed the brakes without replacing my calipers because he could not open them. I had just had them open a month ago. Took the truck across the street and got the brakes bled and calipers re-screwed on for $65. This place is a ripoff. read more

Horrible service. First they said i need a new starter , after $450 i picked up my car and it died after two blocks.they said also some other stuff is wrong and i couldn't drive my car after i took it back to them. They said there is something else is wrong in the engine and owner said they don't service those kind of issues. At the end my starter wasn't bad and i need tow my car to proper repair shop who can really fix cars.and guess what ?? Yes i wasted my time and $450 read more
