When I took pictures and sent them to the owner his reply was horrific and never showed up to look at my driveway like he said. Blocked my calls. Our attorney sent him a letter. AVOID Hiring A&S Paving to sealcoat!!! An incompetent job: Since we had used A&S Paving to repave our driveway in 2016 and they were working for neighbors, we hired A&S Paving to sealcoat our driveway on 9/18/24. The estimate was more expensive than past sealcoatings, but the owner operator advocated his method was superior: using an oil- based coating and blowtorching deeper cracks to seal them more thoroughly. However, when his crew came that afternoon, we had to remind them to blowtorch the deeper cracks - which they did but not consistently. Sadly, the oil based sealer left a high gloss sheen which only highlighted cracks and the different, duller appearance of the blowtorched areas. There were also some new discolorations. The end result was a "splotchy" rather than a uniform, well-coated appearance we have gotten in prior sealcoating jobs. Total lack of Responsiveness: I contacted the owner operator the next day (9/19), requesting that he stop by so we could show him the areas of concern. He asked us to wait a week for the sheen to dull before we met. Honoring his request, I waited until 9/27 and then tried unsuccessfully to reach him multiple times, via multiple methods (phone, text, email) on 9/27, 9/30, and 10/1 but he never responded.. My calls were cut off or went directly to voicemail. (It's possible he may have blocked my calls). Only after I used a totally different phone did I finally reach him on 10/2. Abusive, Aggressive Behavior: When he finally met with us (10/2), he was incredibly rude, insulting, verbally abusive and aggressive: * He was clearly annoyed by my persistent efforts to reach him. * He immediately told us that he had done us a FAVOR to attempt fixing cracks. * He added that we clearly stayed up all night losing sleep over the cracks since we were that kind of obsessive people. (?!) * In response to our question about the discolorations that appeared after his team did its work, he told us that that was not his problem and aggressively challenged ME to explain to HIM how that discoloration originated. . * When I asked if the driveway should have been cleaned before sealcoating, as other companies have done in the past, he stated that only idiots with OCD did that cleaning. * The more we tried to talk rationally, the more abusive he became. I said that was no way to get positive reviews of his work. His response was essentially that our "puny" job was not even worth his time, he should never have taken it, we were ungrateful for his trying to fix the cracks, and that he had plenty of bigger jobs, so he did not care about getting a negative review. * When I noted that his idea of customer satisfaction was poor and that his attitude was off-putting, he stated that he could hardly wait to get out of New Jersey, with all of its obnoxious and overly demanding customers and move to Florida. * When my wife tried to engage him (I was getting quite angry by then) he was even more abusive and rude to her. He used profane and insulting language to us both. Then, condescendingly, he told his worker to fill one crack on the side of the driveway and said something like "If I fill this crack, will that finally satisfy you?" * As his worker was getting the crack filler from the truck, I decided against dealing further with him and said something like "On second thought, just pack your things up and get off our property". As I was walking away, he shouted something like "If you were younger, I come over there and lay you out flat". That is, he would have physically assaulted me if I were a younger, dissatisfied customer. In all our 40+ years dealing with contractors in caring for our home and property, the owner-operator of A & S Paving was the most arrogant, inflexible, hostile, rude, insulting and aggressive person with whom we have ever dealt. We regret that we, in good faith, had paid him fully. We are writing this review to forewarn others and hopefully spare them from a similar experience of such incompetence, abuse and aggression. read more

Our asphalt driveway needed to be removed since it was higher than the garage floor, the concrete apron to garage entrance heaved, and our driveway did not have straight edging. I called A&S Paving, Anthony responded promptly, taking the time to review all my concerns assuring me all will be corrected to my liking. His crew came the next day. His mason repaired the concrete garage floor with a straight clean level edge. His crew was very responsive and polite with my observations. Anthony from A&S paving was very responsive and provided me with a competitive quote and was able to provide me with a timeline start to finish and he delivered. I called a few paving companies that are based in Morris county last year and this year and a few got back to me and often responded as if they were doing me a favor. I called A&S Paving and Anthony called me back right away and was at my house the next day to provide me with a quote and timeline. Anthony the owner assured me that the pitch of the driveway would not allow water to run toward the garage which was a huge concern of mine. Owner will threaten you and treat you like garbage when you just want the job done properly. They cut corners and when they are called out on it the owner thinks he is in the mafia and can just threaten people for his money. Do not go with these guys regardless of the price. When confronted with a problem he will just argue with you and use every excuse in the book. Now stuck with a driveway that drains into my house and owner refuses to fix it. Anthony Stanko owns and operates A&S Paving, they mostly spread new asphalt but also reseal existing asphalt. Very high tech and I don't just mean he answers txts :). Estimates come back really quickly - like in 5 minutes - because they are done from satellite pictures, no more coming out to measure by rolling a little wheel around. He resealed a large driveway at my place. The commercial sealer material is in a big tank on his truck and pumped out at high pressure like a power washer, it goes on extremely quickly. From what I can tell the coating seems to be as much a cosmetic treatment (make it shiny blacktop again) as a sealer to reduce water penetration (what I really want). His price was not the lowest and not the highest, BUT he said he would be at my home on Monday. Are you kidding me? They should up, and the work was done in a flash. A&S did a phenomenal job, the drive looks great, is level, and has very straight lines totally inline with our property. BEWARE OF THIS SHADY COMPANY AND THE OWNER!!!! I called Anthony for a quote on excavating my existing driveway and paving a brand new one. He gives me a quote and I decide to give him a call yesterday to schedule for him to come to do my drive way next week. He tells me that he is looking for work and is in the area, so he asked if I wouldn't mind doing it today, so I confirmed with my husband and we were all on the same page. His men came 2 hours later than he promised and says they got "lost" meanwhile the address that they used is only 5 mins away from our house. I decided to overlook that and give these guys the benefit of the doubt. They proceeded to excavate and prep the driveway, everything was fine until they started to lay down the asphalt did I realize that they were doing the job incorrectly. I noticed it was getting late (7:30PM) and they were trying to "rush the job" to leave. Good thing I was watching the entire time because I was working from home yesterday and I wanted to make sure for the money we paid that we were getting the quality that was promised. I noticed that there was not enough asphalt to cover the driveway and asked the workers if they were going to get more materials. One of the works tells the truth and says there isn't enough material and the driver tells me that he is only joking because he likes to joke. I started to worry because I am paying a lot of money to get a brand-new driveway. My husband tells the workers that if the job is not done correctly no one is getting paid, so I called the boss and he starts screaming at me at the top of his lungs. He tells me he should've never taken the job that he made no money on this job and that he put so much material on there that I can ask any contractor! Because he started yelling at me as soon as I got on the phone with him and I am completely and utterly am disgusted with his behavior. All I can tell you is that I do not have any respect for this guy one bit and told my husband to deal with him. The very next day they promise to come to complete the job. My husband gets a call from the Owner Anthony Stanko and he starts yelling at my husband after my husband was so calm and understanding with him the entire time because he just wanted the job to get done right. He then starts cursing my husband out and tells him to suck his d*** and that my husband is a low life and a scum because we weren't going to pay for shit work. They did not show up that day. Finally, my husband files a police report because the owner said that his Mexicans better get paid or watch what happens. Not only does he claim that he is some church goer but he also starts threatening us saying he has a lot of money but he doesn't know whats going to happen if the Mexicans don't get his money. Police report is filed, and the cops call him to settle this out. Anthony then calls and apologizes and says he is not normally like this that he got hot headed thinking we weren't going to pay because we are young we look like we don't have the money. He then continues to tell my husband that he looked him up and sees he is a federal police officer for an army base so he knows we have the money to pay otherwise we wouldn't be living in Randolph. LOL!!!!!!!!!! He then apologizes and says he isn't a mafia man and he wasn't trying to threaten us. Anthony finally asks if we can give $2k up front and then he will finish the driveway because he does not believe we were going to pay. Because my husband agreed to that I paid the man $2k and towards the end of the job the owner asks if I can talk to him because he wanted to personally apologize to me. I came outside and he said I am sorry I am a church goer this is not like me. All lies that he spews to clear his conscience. I told him I don't respect owners who treat customers like trash and he said I apologize I treat a pregnant lady like that. That is not how I am not how I do business. This guy is a joke, he belittled me and my husband and continued to apologize thinking that we could be "friends" and that I should thank him???.... Meanwhile I am the one paying for the service? Just stay away I called him by accident. I will never go by reviews online anymore because he just gets his family to write them. I was swayed and thought he did good work based on the reviews but he is shady and ignorant narcisstic pig. When I paid him the full $3200 he asked if it was counterfeit money and is he sure he can trust me! LOL I am an ACCOUNTANT! Well I learned a valuable lesson here, never trust a scumbag like this. Please steer clear. His workers are all nice guys and are honest, they don't like him either. He tells me that he yells at his wife too and he wants to be friends. I gave the money to his workers and wanted him off my property. It took everything in me to not just have another company come however my husband made a deal and I had to respect it. A & S Paving just finished resurfacing my driveway with 2 to 2.5 inches of new asphalt. A crew of 7 guys showed up ahead of schedule and in no time at all began the laborious task of making the key cuts in front of the garages, gates, sidewalk, etc. They even cut out a few really bad areas, filled in the cut outs with new asphalt and rolled it before applying the entire new surface. I can't count the number of times the steam roller went over the new surface. The new surface is as smooth as glass! They were very efficient and provided excellent service. Their equipment looks rather new and well maintained. Anthony (the owner) came by several times to check to on the job status, He completed the job in a day (really big driveway) and provided all services as promised. had our driveway refinished by Anthony in the fall. the job was awful from the beginning. the stones are coming up all over and the driveway is simply coming apart. when I contacted him he told me to read the fine print in my contract and that he didn't have to do anything about it. I have had the driveway looked at by three different companies and have been told that it is the worst job they've ever seen .
