We recently had the good fortune of discovering Cannon, when our driveway finally reached the point…read moreof nearly swallowing small cars in ever-growing potholes and no safe path to avoid them. Ours is a farm lane, stretching a good tenth of a mile between the road and our home, so it was no small task to repair. For ages, we'd kept putting it off and doing our best to just patch the worst holes by hand and occasionally asking a friend to scrape it as best they could with some farm equipment. At best it was a patchwork delaying tactic. At worst, it made countless delivery drivers hate us with a passion. Enter Charles and Cannon. Charles is a character and a whirlwind, as full of energy and stories as he is in expertise on road repair and paving. One thing he's not full of: let's say "blarney." From the initial discussion, he laid out a plan to not just fill and cover over the driveway, but regrade it so that water would no longer sit and pool, inviting further damage during winter freeze-thaw cycles. He spelled out the tar and chip surface he proposed, a ballpark timeline in which he expected to complete the multiple phases of repair and resurfacing, and a quote. After much consideration, we decided it was time to do it and do it right, so we gave Charles the greenlight. And he delivered. In spades. Areas where the forest had encroached into our old driveway were pushed back and restored. Additional material was brought in to regrade the road, roll it down and pack it to prepare for the top surfacing. Twice, because the lane was so bad the first round had to settle and pack. Charles himself handled the final regrading step to make sure the slopes were appropriate to direct water into areas where it could run off and leave the driveway clear. The final step of actually applying the tar and chips turned what was once a (barely) serviceable farm lane into something that could comfortably be described as a manor drive. See for yourself in before/after pics attached, but everyone who has driven in since has commented on how beautiful it is, along with how much more comfortable the drive up the lane is. Within a couple weeks of its completion, we had seven inches (!!) of rain over the course of a week or so. And true to Charles' promise, the water all ran to exit points and left the lane dry. The only exception was one spot where the area to which it drained couldn't handle that much water. That was on us, and with a bit of clearing to let it all run to a ditch, even the little bit that pooled right along the edge would now have plenty of room to fully escape down to the irrigation pond. We truly couldn't be happier. If you've been thinking about getting a lane or other driving/parking area resurfaced, definitely give Cannon a call and ask for Charles. Your driveway will thank you.

The driveway they constructed is unlevel, containing numerous dips and valleys. Despite initially…read moreraising my concerns and requesting them to revisit the issue, it took an excessive amount of time and multiple phone calls from me to prompt their response. Eventually, Larry from Cannon Patio and Driveway visited, but his solution was inadequate. He simply suggested sealing the areas where gravel was coming up, without addressing the sinking and discoloration of the driveway caused by regular vehicle use. They were initially hired to tear out my old driveway, regrade, level, and asphalt it. Their work was rushed and subpar. The regrading and leveling have failed, resulting in puddles forming on the driveway. Asphalt is already starting to loosen and come apart, which is unacceptable considering the amount of money I paid for their services. They provided a quote for the project, but when it came time to settle the bill, they charged a higher price. They claimed it was due to miscalculations regarding the amount of gravel needed. This pricing scheme is deceptive, and I regret not conducting thorough research on contractors before hiring them. Be careful and DYOR. Don't make the same mistake I made.
