We were so frustrated! We figured out that our county's website has a record of all of the permitted work done in the county in the last 3.5 months, and you can sort by project. It also lists the sq footage of the project and the cost. We could see that Kefficient had done the most permitted projects in our county and they had a fair and competitive price compared to other companies who got their work permitted. We ended up deciding to work with Kefficient. What a world of difference! They quickly got a permit and did the work and had it inspected and it looks great. What a relief after such a poor experience with a different company!

The urgency of the work that needed to be done was honored, and end result was even better than my first one!! This was a far more difficult project, and unfortunately, I couldn't be on site during the project. The light near the dehumidifier is game-changing and they even gave me a moisture monitoring device. When I learned how cool it was, I asked if I can have one for my 1st house, and they offered it to come brin git by(free). Bonus when the technician came to install, he noticed some dropping insulation and just fixed it. This is why I love this company and will always call them for my needs and highly recommend them to anyone.

We had a $27k contract for JES to stabilize the foundation of our garage in Charlottesville and to…read moreaddress water that would seep into the basement during heavy rain events. The main work was done very well and professionally. The contract, however, also called for drilling a long hole into the end of a wall through multiple cinderblocks to drain the water intrusion that was getting specifically into the basement's stairwell wall. There was no other access point to the bottom cinderblocks of the stairway wall. It was a clever solution written into the contract, and the provision specifically stated that JES would bring a 36-48-inch masonry drill bit in order to drill a hole long enough to accomplish the goal. After the team completed the main work, we pointed out the need to finish the job by drilling this hole, but they did not have such a long bit with them. We then reached out many, many times over many months to get this hole drilled. Most often we were met with silence, but when we ultimately have gotten a response, the person would say, "Sorry, we will get that done." Twice, JES workers have actually shown up -- but without a long drill bit. They would then look at the situation and understand why the long drill bit was needed, say they would arrange for it to happen, and then radio silence. After we posted a longer version of the story as a review, apparently higher-up JES management people got involved and pretty quickly sent someone out with the right drill and bit to finish the contracted work. Presumably, some HR training has happened also and given that the job is now complete with the vast majority of it having been done well and in a timely manner -- I've now upwardly revised my rating.

Communication from both the office staff and field team was excellent--everyone was clearly aligned and always aware of the job's status. There were no surprises along the way with regard to other work needed. No hard-sell tactics like competitors. We did receive a lower estimate only to find all NECESSARY work was not included in the lower estimate. What began as a very negative situation was transformed into a positive experience with a successful outcome, thanks to their expertise and coordination. The level of care, organization, and follow-through truly set them apart. Our job was completed promptly and passed inspection with flying colors. I would definitely recommend The Drying Company without hesitation. Special thanks to Nick Slemp, Stephanie Hall, and Crystal Powell for their dedication and for never dropping the ball throughout the entire process. Shannon & Jim Blackburn

My thing is you would have thought that all this could have been avoided had someone reviewed and looked at everything prior. And just like the last time they came over, they provided an analysis and a thorough explanation about what the current state is, what I can do to keep things tight, and what I can expect if problems arise. So even though I didn't need them, Zach assured me that they will continue to offer this service and talk to me as needed. Vertigo so bad I had to stop driving . My husband was becoming confused and could not concentrate . The relative was standing on the crawl space encapsulation membrane because the floors and under flooring had been removed when a sun ray shone on his boot . He and two JES employees got on there needs and followed the beam of light . It lead to the door of the encapsulation .It was inches too short . Moisture was getting in as well as mice . This meant the dehumidifier was working hard to keep up with the moisture that was getting under the house . Mold was everywhere. The joists they were sistering to had mold all on them . We discovered the three contracts we already had were not consistent in pricing . Each contract was higher prices . Our relative had them gut all the work they had been doing out because it was ALL done wrong . They finally did the work correctly. Then I discovered they had dropped the second building permit and never had their work inspectEd through the county . I had to email the county and request one . I would NEVER recommend this company .

The insulation and attention put into insulating the basement at the time was lackluster. Coming from California, I didn't really understand what a mistake I had made until the mice found refuge in our basement this November in 2019. Needless to say, they took over, and it made for a rather unpleasant holiday. I found a great mice and rodent cleanup crew (Environmental PC) who recommended Creative Conservation, and specifically Richard Browning, who runs the Arlington area. Impressive, attentive, kind, and thorough are the best words to describe Richard and CC. Richard squeezed me into a tight slot early after the holidays to assess my place. He was prompt with the quote, answered all my questions (even down to the technical details about how the foam was made, how they transported it, how it worked etc.). I felt like he really had my interests in mind. The quote he generated was extremely reasonable. What impressed me most, however, was not just the initial service, but the execution and flexibility. Because our basement was infested, we weren't just insulating. We were getting an environmental crew to clean up, grinding and redo'ing the floors, and then foaming in the gaps all around the edges of the basement to seal out future critters. This required some schedule wrangling, and on the day that Richard's crew was supposed to show up, the basement squad was running behind. Richard knew that our family had suffered from this mice issue, and worked quickly to reschedule the foam treatment, coming in just a few days later, despite having little scheduling flexibility on the calendar. It was this effort to do the right thing and take care of us that really stuck with me. Of course, the best thing out of using Creative Conservation is that their work was incredible. They foam sealed all the corners and gaps in the basement in about an hour and a half. Our basement is now dry as a whistle (we also have sump pumps though), but before there was a serious draft due to the poor sealing that was put in during the 90's. Our de-humidifier which used to run non-stop even during the winter, hasn't come on since. Temperature wise, the basement now stays the same temp as the rest of the house. We are SO grateful to Richard and his team. HIGHLY recommend this to anyone in the Arlington area that's looking to seal their basement, keep out critters, conserve energy, and just make the basement a more pleasant place to store stuff.
