We had a $27k contract for JES to stabilize the foundation of our garage in Charlottesville and to…read moreaddress water that would seep into the basement during heavy rain events. The main work was done very well and professionally. The contract, however, also called for drilling a long hole into the end of a wall through multiple cinderblocks to drain the water intrusion that was getting specifically into the basement's stairwell wall. There was no other access point to the bottom cinderblocks of the stairway wall. It was a clever solution written into the contract, and the provision specifically stated that JES would bring a 36-48-inch masonry drill bit in order to drill a hole long enough to accomplish the goal. After the team completed the main work, we pointed out the need to finish the job by drilling this hole, but they did not have such a long bit with them. We then reached out many, many times over many months to get this hole drilled. Most often we were met with silence, but when we ultimately have gotten a response, the person would say, "Sorry, we will get that done." Twice, JES workers have actually shown up -- but without a long drill bit. They would then look at the situation and understand why the long drill bit was needed, say they would arrange for it to happen, and then radio silence. After we posted a longer version of the story as a review, apparently higher-up JES management people got involved and pretty quickly sent someone out with the right drill and bit to finish the contracted work. Presumably, some HR training has happened also and given that the job is now complete with the vast majority of it having been done well and in a timely manner -- I've now upwardly revised my rating.

Barry is clearly extremely knowledgeable, and helped me assess that the problem was actually just a clogged drain! He told me how to fix the issue myself and gave me the confidence to do it. All I needed was a screwdriver and a plunger, and the problem was solved! He easily could have sold me a $12,000 job, but instead he showed the ultimate care and respect. I would give him 100 stars if I could! Call JES and ask for Barry! Chris is still in training -by the best-so he'll be an expert soon!

For six months Joists kept breaking even though they said only a few needed replacing in the beginning. mold keep getting on the wallama in the house . . Time and again they kept spraying for mold . No one could give me a reasonable answer as to why the crawl space encapsulation wasn't working and mold kept growing . About the time we were going to sign the fourth contract to have work done , a family member had to step in for us . I was having headaches that were 24 hours a day . Vertigo so bad I had to stop driving . My husband was becoming confused and could not concentrate . The relative was standing on the crawl space encapsulation membrane because the floors and under flooring had been removed when a sun ray shone on his boot . He and two JES employees got on there needs and followed the beam of light . It lead to the door of the encapsulation .It was inches too short . Moisture was getting in as well as mice . This meant the dehumidifier was working hard to keep up with the moisture that was getting under the house . Mold was everywhere. The joists they were sistering to had mold all on them . We discovered the three contracts we already had were not consistent in pricing . Each contract was higher prices . Our relative had them gut all the work they had been doing out because it was ALL done wrong . They finally did the work correctly. Then I discovered they had dropped the second building permit and never had their work inspectEd through the county . I had to email the county and request one . I would NEVER recommend this company .

The insulation and attention put into insulating the basement at the time was lackluster. Coming from California, I didn't really understand what a mistake I had made until the mice found refuge in our basement this November in 2019. Needless to say, they took over, and it made for a rather unpleasant holiday. I found a great mice and rodent cleanup crew (Environmental PC) who recommended Creative Conservation, and specifically Richard Browning, who runs the Arlington area. Impressive, attentive, kind, and thorough are the best words to describe Richard and CC. Richard squeezed me into a tight slot early after the holidays to assess my place. He was prompt with the quote, answered all my questions (even down to the technical details about how the foam was made, how they transported it, how it worked etc.). I felt like he really had my interests in mind. The quote he generated was extremely reasonable. What impressed me most, however, was not just the initial service, but the execution and flexibility. Because our basement was infested, we weren't just insulating. We were getting an environmental crew to clean up, grinding and redo'ing the floors, and then foaming in the gaps all around the edges of the basement to seal out future critters. This required some schedule wrangling, and on the day that Richard's crew was supposed to show up, the basement squad was running behind. Richard knew that our family had suffered from this mice issue, and worked quickly to reschedule the foam treatment, coming in just a few days later, despite having little scheduling flexibility on the calendar. It was this effort to do the right thing and take care of us that really stuck with me. Of course, the best thing out of using Creative Conservation is that their work was incredible. They foam sealed all the corners and gaps in the basement in about an hour and a half. Our basement is now dry as a whistle (we also have sump pumps though), but before there was a serious draft due to the poor sealing that was put in during the 90's. Our de-humidifier which used to run non-stop even during the winter, hasn't come on since. Temperature wise, the basement now stays the same temp as the rest of the house. We are SO grateful to Richard and his team. HIGHLY recommend this to anyone in the Arlington area that's looking to seal their basement, keep out critters, conserve energy, and just make the basement a more pleasant place to store stuff. Attaching some photos so you can see for yourself.
