Especially, the abundance of free parking in downtown Lake City. The Friday night I was there, there was music bingo and a live band. They have live music every Friday and Saturday at the outside stage. Monday is game night. Tuesday is Trivia. Wednesday they have line dancing, including classes for like $5. Thursday is Karaoke!!!! They have a "Culture of Generosity" where you can buy a beer forward. I actually got to be the recipient of one of those free beers. And of course, I paid it forward. The BEER: Seymour-Finnegan's Irish Red Ale 5.7%... smooth slightly sweet great tasting all day crushable goodness Hop Culture IPA 6.5% ABV... looks like a hazy, tastes like a west coast, definitely high in IBUs, has fruity pine nose, good if you love your IPAs extra piney, so very hop forward Pickle Sour 4.5% ABV... oh he11 yummm, I absolutely love this pickle sour. Soooo very good! Rum soaked oak barrel aged Big Hal 7% ABV... there was something I really liked about this. It is a brown ale with a whole bunch of personality Don't have the words though. Big Hal brown ale 6 8% ABV... now I know what I liked about the Rum Soaked Barrel Aged Big Hal this is an all day drinkable brown ale. LOVED IT! I can honestly say I found some fantastic Beer in Lake City, FL. What a wonderful way to spend a Friday evening.

They had several guest beers and a couple of vodka sodas on tap. I got my standard flight and wanted to try their beers, so I got a red ale, a wit bier, a pumpkin style and a hazy IPA. Nothing was bad but nothing stood out either. Everything was solid. We didn't eat here but the menu looked solid. They had a Mississippi pot roast (Similiar to an Italian beef) wrap that sounded great. If I were a local, I'd definitely come back to try out the food.

It's not far from the heart of downtown Live Oak and not far from the railroad tracks, either, of which you become quickly aware when a freight train passes by. Despite the small space, they have a pool table inside, a bar (of course) and that pool table doubles as a buffet table when they have potlucks and the like. There is apparently also an outdoor tiki bar area in the yard behind the building but I didn't go back there. Beer is the preferred spirit it seems and the crowd is about 99% locals, mostly middle-aged but some in their early to mid twenties. The theme therefore is country/biker to an extent but they were playing old hard rocks standards when I was there and then . . . something . . . not sure what it was, but some song I remember from the early 2000s that probably was Linkin Park or a band that copied Linkin Park. So aside from the B-list or C-list early 2000s blast from the past, a very cool and low-key bar in a very handy location in Live Oak.

Swamp Head Brewery in Gainesville is easily one of the best brewery experiences around. I tried a…read moreflight of four featuring Not a Flamingo, Sky Puppies, Hawk Moth, and Moundz, and it was the perfect way to see how well they execute across completely different styles. Not a Flamingo was incredibly smooth with a dessert-like flavor without being too heavy, Sky Puppies was juicy and clean, Hawk Moth had a really nice balance with a subtle sweetness, and Moundz was on another level if you enjoy rich, decadent stouts. The atmosphere is just as good as the beer, laid back, welcoming, and exactly what you want when you are hanging out and trying a few different pours. Everything felt consistent and well thought out from the menu to the quality in the glass. I will definitely be back and highly recommend Swamp Head Brewery to anyone who appreciates great craft beer.

Their beer flights are incredible and the selection is seriously mind blowing. You can tell they put a lot of care into what they brew, and they genuinely deserve every award on the wall. If we could give it a 10 star rating, we absolutely would. The staff has always been super friendly and welcoming, and we've never really had to wait long for a beer even when it's busy. We love the outdoor setup and activities, and the whole place has such a relaxed, family friendly vibe that makes you want to stay awhile. We tried quite a few different beers across both visits and everything was great, but our personal favorites were the Dole Whip, Gummy Worm, and Pink Starburst flavors. Even the bathrooms were spotless both times, which is always a nice bonus and shows how well they take care of the place overall. We really love the vibe here and we will definitely be back again soon.
