They don't have the greatest selection of colors so you're a bit limited if you're not getting gel. I was seated for my pedicure as soon as I arrived with someone else. I had to wait for quite some time since he was busy doing someone else. Once he got started he did a great job with the massage and polish! Liza did my manicure and I was very happy with her service. She asked me if I liked what she was doing and also adjusted to fit all my requests. The polish could have been done more carefully but I couldn't see these little mess ups until they were dry. Other than that the nails turned out just as I had wanted! They do a great job at this place but be prepared to wait and spend quite some time here when you come in even with an appointment and definitely without an appointment. read more

I moved here about 2 years ago and I was still driving 1hr away to my favorite nail salon. I had tried a few around Waukegan/Gurnee and I couldn't find the right one. A&A nail spa opened just this past summer and I saw the listing on Yelp. The pictures of the nails done here are beautiful and the reviews are all great so I decided to give it a try. I am so glad I did. Liza did my gel full set and I loved them.!! Plus she was super friendly and welcoming. She took her time and made sure I was happy, and I sure was. I definitely recommend her. I wouldn't say they are terrible but after today I won't go back. I asked for a specific person to do my nails and she politely passed me to the worse person to do nails. First of all I wanted my nails soaked off. Couldn't even get them soaked off because the guy took a good portion of my skin off the side of my finger causing it to bleed. Then messed up a nail that was already perfectly fine by filing it down so short that I am going to have cut the rest of my nails because it looks tacky. I should have walked out as soon as I walked in and was hit with the strongest smell of nail products ever. But the lady at the door directed me to a bowl for a much needed pedicure. The worker didn't speak, just directed me with hand gestures. The worker did not trim my nails evenly and did not use a manicure stick to clean under my nails before applying polish. I won't return. This is my first time visiting this nail salon and I am pleased with my choice to come to this salon. I got a full gel set with flowers from Liza! There is always going to be a wait time when you come in for a walk in appointment so if you don't book ahead of time make sure you don't think you'll get in super fast. The tables themselves could be more sanitary between clients. However, I told Liza what I wanted on my nails and she was ready to execute the job. Very disappointed with the service I received this week, I went to get an acrylic nail set. The lady who took care of me was literally rushing through the process when one of her regulars came in and told her she was in a hurry. She took off my nail dip powder nails and then started doing my acrylics, I showed her a reference picture I had seen online, she told me she would leave my nails exactly as the picture but fell insanely short from that, you see she literally almost forced me to getting no chip nails which is a huge price difference from just the regular polish. I asked for white tips and got a complete mess. I am irritated and angry because on the day after I got my nails done the white had chipped off from some areas. After paying $59 dollars this is b.s service. When she was doing my nails she hurt me a couple times and told me it was because my hands were so tense which was true, they were because she was hurting me, another thing. I told her I had residue from the powder removal and she didn't even bother to clean it off from my skin, she said " oh it come off when you wash hand" it did not come off and it lasted about 2 days on my skin. The nails are so thick and ugly, the white is uneven and chipping, I want a refund or at least for this to be redone. I paid a lot for a half way done job. There is pictures I took the day after the job was done. I work so much that I hardly ever have time to do my nails. I'd like to speak to the owner to see how we can resolve this. Came here because of other reviews. So glad I did!! First walking in I was greeted nicely. Went for a pedicure and full set with a take off of old set. Was immediately put in a chair for my pedicure and asked if I wanted the deluxe and he even explained what it was! Sooo glad I got the deluxe and its actually worth the extra $10. Liza did my nails and I found my new nail soulmate. She is precise, and does a fantastic job. She's personable, made conversation, and asked if I liked them after each step. I really appreciate that! Had an appointment for mani pedi for 3 of us. They didn't respect our time they kept taking in walk-ins even though they had us waiting. I had fake nails on I needed them off and needed a new set so they had me dip my nails in acetone and for an hour and a half! My nails got supper damaged from that and they still didn't get the fake ones off. They should've been filing as I dipped my nails in the acetone but they instead paid no attention and kept taking walk-ins. In the end I had to leave but I'm sure I would've been there until 7 or probably later. When I said I had to leave and I was upset they barely cared and all they had to say was sorry. read more

I rarely go to get a pedicure or manicure but if I do I go to Round Lake this time I decided to stay local. At first when you walk in the smell of chemical is very strong. Secondly, I got the delux pedi for $35 and my feet look the same from the bottom. The only thing I got was my feet wash and polish. When I was waiting for my feet to dry I didn't know how long I was suppose to wait the man who did my pedi never approached me or talked to me at all expect point at things. I felt very disappointed and it was a big waste of money I should have just drove the extra miles to Round Lake. The ladies who were doing nails appeared to be completely opposite from the guy that did my pedi. They were friendly,talkative, and talented. Its a shame not all of the staff was the same. Hands-down the worst no-chip manicure I've ever had. It took two hours (!) to almost complete a no-chip. I gave up and left when the technician kept ripping off the polish to try again to reapply the polish on one of my fingers after he bumped it. There was polish all over the skin on the sides of my nails and on the cuticles and it started to peel the next day. Thank goodness they gave me my money back. read more

My friend and I wanted to get manicures and after looking for a place to go for a while we decided to try a&a since it seemed to have the best reviews around the area. Sadly it wasn't what I had hoped. The workers seemed friendly enough but my nails don't look or feel as great as I thought they would. 2 of my nails came out very crooked and I've barely had them on for a couple of hours yet they're already starting to come off! Not to mention the fact that most of my nails hurt very badly. Honestly, for what it is, I don't think I'm going to be back there any time soon. When I went in there were two employees working and they each had a customer. I informed one of the employees that I wanted a gel manicure AND pedicure. The woman informed me it would be 30 minutes. I made the decision it was worth the wait since the ratings were so high. 30 minutes later one of the employees sets me up with pedicure bowl and then went back to her customer now moving on to do her nails. I quickly realized it would be a bit longer but saw that the original woman was wrapping up on her customers nails. NO ONE has bothered to update me on a new wait time. At 45 minutes, I pull my feet out of the water b/c I realize I wont have time for both a mani/pedi gel so decide that the mani was more important - no need keeping my feet in cold water. I sit down on the couch and the woman tells me that the other person is almost done and she will do my pedi at the same time that she does my mani. I ask her, "Are you sure?" Yes. Ok. So at 60 minute wait the other employee says shes ready for me and asks me back to the chair. I let her know that the water was cold and she RUDELY says, "I know. I felt it." Really? Am I the customer? Then when she realizes I have gel pedicure on my feet she rolls her eyes and says, "That is at least 6 minutes to soak off" irritated that it is not a basic pedicure. Simultaneously I realize the woman who will be doing my manicure is taking off all the nail art of the woman she has been working on for an hour and redoing them b/c she doesn't like it. Mind you - she NEVER updates me and insisted that it would only be a few more minutes. I put on my shoes and said there is NOTHING they could do to salvage the customer service experience at this point and walked out. One of my biggest frustrations is when salons are not honest about the wait time. I have the right to make an informed decision but you must inform me. Waste of my time! read more
