I am equally disappointed in myself as a parent and a health care provider for not seeking another dentist sooner and trusting this dentist. I am a Family Medicine Provider, I rarely leave reviews but I am disheartened and need to communicate this message. My daughter is fearful of all medical clinics as she was in the ICU for a week when she was 3 years old. Yes, she will cry and resist dental treatment likely for a lifetime. A child crying should not limit the treatment or halt the exam. We visited this Dentist on 9 occasions with the intent of getting my daughters teeth examined, cleaned and x-rayed. In the totality of the 9 visits, we received no x-rays or cleaning, the exam was rescheduled each time because my daughter cried. Our Last visit I urged the Dental tech to continue getting the x-ray and just allow her to cry as she was having dental pain. The Dental tech denied continuing. The diagnosis was possible abscess but unknown without xray. Nine attempts to get her teeth cleaned without result. The chart notes were requested; the assessment & plan was cut and paste formulaically every visit with instruction on teeth brushing. I immediately transferred care to Dupont Pediatric density, and they worked magic, did an x-ray and cleaning same day. My Daughter did in fact have an Abscess and was given Antibiotics and referred for appropriate treatment. Please Parents, learn from this. Seek another Dentist if your child is not getting the care you feel they need and deserve. Shame on you Small to Tall pediatric Dentistry. The front desk staff was professional and pleasant consistently.

Clean place, kids have fun in the tree house, and very streamlined process. This is the first time I've had zero issues with billing from pretty much any medical establishment. My ONLY issue I have with them (which I did NOT dock a star for) is their constant push for masks. Kid is literally about to lay down and open her mouth and they try to tell me to make her mask. No thanks. Going to a private room and they want me to mask in case I get aerosols from my own child...(I told them I live with her and I'll take the risk and sign a waiver or something. Anyway- they're trying to make one group happy...I get that. So! That's my only qualm which like I said, didn't affect my rating. Happy teeth cleaning!

It is time to finally write a review. My older children, 17 and 20 finally phased out of this…read morepractice after receiving amazing care since they were babies. My 8 year old has been going since she was a baby as well and will be surely getting braces here in a few more years. My youngest has had an oral surgery at this office (when she was 4) and I cannot tell you how amazing they were. They assured her safety, and were extremely cautious and careful when treating her. I could tell they were not taking unecessary risks when they had an anesthialogist come in to administer and oversee my daughter during the entire process. This practice is a well oiled machine. Everything they do is for the children they serve. They are kind, patient, reassuring, fun, and compassionate. You can tell that Dr. Andy only hires the best and those who meet his mission of providing amazing care to his child patients. The rates are a bit higher for braces, I am told, but ultimately, for us, we don't mind paying a bit more for continued care and with a dentist and staff my children were already familiar with. They explain all of their procedures and processes. Their billing process is clear and upfront. They answer their phones when you call to pay your bill. They always return calls promptly. They deal with your insurance company so you don't have to. They send reminders about appointments. They have a child friendly waiting room, an open bay where children are being treated, which promotes a sense of calmness with children as they see other kiddos getting worked on. They have prizes and special programs throughout the year. Dr. Kapust himself is a kind dentist who has a wonderful manner with children. He is kind and explains himself to them and uses kid friendly terms so they don't become scared, "wiggle teeth out" instead of pull......"happy air" instead of gas.....etc. He is also involved in the community and cares about his patients, their families, and the community. His staff are amazing as well. I have never encountered an unfriendly employee. I was very touched when, while my daughter was having two tooth extractions yesterday, I observed one of the dental assistants put her hand on my daughter's arm and hold it there in a comforting manner so my daughter would feel at ease while lying in the chair. I wish I could remember her name, because she was a shining star in this mama's eyes. I was sitting at the end of the chair and couldn't get up there as I would be in the way, so I was very happy to see her comforting my child in a genuine and unforced way. You can tell she loves her job and her patients. Most employees have been there for a long time. It is a testament to the business Dr. Andy runs, there isn't a lot of turnover, and you actually get to know all of the employees. Shout out to Bonnie, Amanda, and Dione....... :) The only thing that is tough for me at times, is, because they are so popular.... they have a lot of patients , so you can have an extended wait time past your appointment from time to time, which is tough for me as a working parent. AND, if you have to cancel an appt, it is very tough to reschedule for a time close to your original appt...you usually have to wait several weeks or more. This is the only frustrating aspect for me as a parent, but I cannot blame other parents for bringing their children here causing Dr. Kapust to have a thriving practice. Regardless of my crazy shift work schedule, they have found a way to work with me. If you are looking for a pediatric dentist, look no further.

Now that we're on our 4th kid in braces, I can completely assure you the care here is the best around. The ladies at the front desk greet us by name, ask about our kids who aren't there for the visit, and just treat us like family. Dr. Kapust is second to none - and makes his practice a community business too! I'm always seeing his logo around town, sponsoring everything from community theater to concerts and local events. Kudos to all the staff at Dr. Kapust's office!

After recently moving to Olympia, both my husband and I were looking for a dentist and visited…read moreCapital Family. We booked a back-to-back appointments at the clinic, and the experience left A LOT to be desired. Both the front office and the care made us feel extremely uncomfortable and like they were after our $$ - we will be finding another dentist. Here are the "lowlights" of our experience: - The first time I called to set up an appointment, I was put on hold and waited for a good 25 minutes before I hung up. - My husband had an 8am appointment and was in there for about 1.5 hours before he was seen by Dr. Lee. - They took additional x-rays, but did not disclose that these images would have additional cost to us. We were not given a clear reason why this was necessary; they made it seem like it was standard procedure. - Dr. Lee seemed like a mild-mannered man, but he spent barely any time inspecting our teeth and was quick to suggest additional procedures. I was expecting a thorough dental exam like I got from my previous dentist. At this clinic, the dental assistant examined my teeth for a few minutes after taking the x-rays, then I was made to wait much longer than the time Dr. Lee actually spent with me. - Dr. Lee found 2 "cavities" in my husband's teeth, and he has never had cavities in his life. Apart from missing his cleaning earlier this year because of the move, he has regularly seen the previous dentist. - Dr. Lee suggested 3 fillings for me - one for a "recurring cavity" and two to cover a slightly receding gum. My previous dentist (who I saw just a month ago) never mentioned needing any of the fillings Dr. Lee suggested. - In addition to the fillings, Dr. Lee suggested cleaning to me. I had to tell him that I had it done in May, then he changed his mind and said I'd get it done in 6 months (which is what I would have expected in the first place). - I was charged some fees when I checked out, my husband was not (he had left after his appointment). When I called their office to inquire about the discrepancy, they said maybe my husband "slipped out" before they could settle the bill with him! In fact, my husband had spent extra time at check-out discussing his follow-up visit and the associated fees.

Dr. Lee and the whole rest of the staff never make me feel foolish, even when I'm shaking or tearful. I also appreciate that my favorite dental hygenist goes out of her way to ask after my dog and my husband by name! Even if the information is written down in a folder somewhere, I love that she takes the time to look at it. That personal touch goes a long way in helping me feel less nervous.

I want to start by saying the dental assistant was absolutely amazing. After I gave him a brief rundown of my son, he was patient, kind, and extremely skilled. He was able to take all necessary X-rays, clean my son's entire mouth, and even floss -- which is not easy for a child with sensory sensitivities. My son did phenomenally and felt great about the appointment. Unfortunately, everything changed when Dr. Eric Sun entered the room. Because this was our first visit, I began to give the doctor the same explanation so he would understand my son's needs. Before he even looked into my son's mouth, the doctor stated that the chances of him treating my son's cavity were likely slim due to my son's autism, age, and size. To be clear, my son is a typical teenage-sized 13-year-old boy, with no history of behavioral issues, and he had just demonstrated excellent cooperation. The way the doctor spoke to me felt condescending, alarmist, and exaggerated. When I calmly asked why the situation was being presented in such an alarmist manner, the interaction immediately became hostile. He responded with, "I'm sorry you think I'm being melodramatic. Is it okay if I talk now?" I have never experienced such an uncomfortable or adversarial encounter in a dental office. Thankfully, I had my adult daughter with me for moral support, and she quietly encouraged me to stay calm. The dental assistant stood silently, visibly uncomfortable, staring at the floor. We left shortly afterward. I made sure to tell the dental assistant how wonderful he was, as none of this reflected on him. I briefly mentioned the experience to the receptionist while asking for a business card, knowing it likely would not go anywhere. I also made sure not to upset my son, who believed the appointment went well and had no idea what was happening around him. I am leaving this review because if you have a child with special needs, this is not the place to go. Parents should not feel dismissed or belittled for advocating for their children. This was one of the most uneasy and distressing medical encounters I've ever experienced -- and unfortunately, as a parent of an autistic child, I've experienced many. Please avoid this office if your child requires understanding, patience, and respectful care.
