We have two boys, ages 7.5 and 5 years who have been seeing Dr. Andy for their dental care since they were each 2 years old. Our experience has been excellent all around. The staff are friendly and helpful in all aspects of dental care. Dr. Andy is very down to earth and approachable for both kids and adults alike. And everyone is very skilled and knowledgable about pediatric dentistry; they know their stuff and it shows! They've considered each step of the process and paid attention to the details that take a visit from good to great. The office environment is very kid-friendly. The overall design of the office is bright and cheery, durable and hygienic, engaging and fun. Attention to details like guided hands-on exploration of the various tools and simple and clear verbal steps during their check up give kids a sense of what to expect, making the process more reassuring. And little touches like sunglasses to wear so they aren't blinded by the light of the overhead lamp while getting their teeth cleaned makes it a much more comfortable experience. My eldest can get anxious in unfamiliar situations, and when he needed to have a couple of teeth removed a year ago (adult ones were rapidly growing in behind) from pre-appointment through post-extraction, the process was completely thought out and went very smoothly to ensure a safe and stress-free experience for everyone involved. And when our youngest tried to knock his front teeth out a few years prematurely, we received a prompt response to our after-hours phone call to address our concerns. In addition to pediatric dentistry, Dr. Andy also provides youth and adult orthodontic care. I myself recently met with him for a complimentary adult orthodontics consult (my teeth shifted after a few years of not wearing retainers). I had a very thorough, positive appointment and was provided with multiple treatment options to consider and ample information to help make an informed decision. While I have not yet started treatment, the staff have made themselves available (in a very reasonable fashion) should I have questions about any step of the process. I am looking forward to moving forward with orthodontic treatment in the future, and it's an added bonus that when the time comes, it will be a one stop shop for both of my boys, who will also require braces. The thought and resources that go into Dr. Andy's dental universe are incredible. At every point of the process, from check-in to payment, children are considered and cared for with what feels like good intentions all around. Both of my children, ages 2 and 5, are receiving good dental care. I feel confident in the tools, skills and knowledge at work by the whole team. My very sensitive and highly alert 5-year-old has consciously made it through 4 fillings, which is pretty amazing. After one failed attempt, the staff worked with us very patiently, listening to my son and accommodating all of our special requests. I know that my son felt heard, which is the only reason we were able to eventually get through it. In the moment, Dr. Andy works very quickly and with what seems to be great skill. As a secondary consideration, some may appreciate that there are many 'gimmicks' available to keep short attention spans involved while the dentistry is underway, such as toys, games and exciting toothpaste flavors. There is even an exciting rewards program and many opportunities for prizes. These features seem to truly support some families through the dental process. As a parent who appreciates the benefits of low amounts of stimulation, dim lights and soft energy for my child during the potential discomforts of dental work, I appreciate that my finicky requests have been heard and honored. So, it seems they are very open to individual choices and ways of being. I wish to offer a special note of gratitude to Heidi Coleman, dental assistant, who brilliantly led my son out of a moment of panic. Rather than trying to distract him, she stopped what she was doing, slowly reflected to him what she heard him trying to express (through a muffled mouth). I was referred to Dr. Kapust by our family dentist because our 7 year old's teeth are already an orthodontic cry for help. I am beyond impressed by the whole office. The staff across the board (front desk, hygienists, billing ladies) are very friendly and informative. The set up is open concept so you can see all the kids and hygienists doing their thing. It is very calming and normalizes the whole experience for a nervous child. Plus they have a points and prizes system that my kids are super in to. Dr. Kapust is terrific, he really took his time to explain exactly what was going on in that tiny jacked up mouth, and patiently answered all my questions. He laid out a few different treatment options, and advised a very conservative approach that involves minimal interventions and (free!) monitoring until all the teeth are ready for the full ortho onslaught. When I took my older son (with slightly crooked teeth) for a consult he told us that everything actually looks pretty good and that depending on how his jaw grows we may escape braces altogether! We were referred here by our family dentist over a year ago when my then 6 year old was found to have some cavities. My dentist opted for us to see Dr. Kapust so my kiddo would have the best dental experience possible. He was right. Everyone from the front desk up to the dentist is friendly and engaging with my children. Even the scheduling and billing staff are great with kids. My child was found to have several cavities and he was great at explaining the severity of them, how we might be able to put off doing anything to them (and hope they fall out before they get too bad.) Their top priority is making the child comfortable and not creating a life long fear of dentists and dental procedures. The dentist and assistant did everything they could to make my child comfortable during her fillings. She was still a little anxious after this so they did not want to rush into anymore work unless it was absolutely necessary. They always get both of my kids in at the same time. We lovingly call Dr. Andy's office "The Disneyland of Dentistry" at our house. The staff is beyond welcoming and helpful -- they make you feel right at home and in good hands. My children look forward to going to the dentist and always have a wonderful experience. I know that translates to enthusiasm about their oral health at home. What I appreciate the most about the practice is the attention to detail. The welcome packet each of my children received before their first visits, the handwritten notes from the tooth fairy, the dental assistants who are so good with children I swear they have degrees in early childhood education -- Dr. Andy thinks of everything. The practice is very civically minded, sponsoring local children's programs, visiting schools and giving back to the community. What more can I say? This is a fantastic local business! I went as a child and now I bring my four children there and as a patient and a parent I have received nothing but excellence for over 25 years. Dr. John and Dr. Andy are wonderful, and from the time you walk in and meet the first smile at the front desk, to the time you check out with the billing department, you are treated with respect, professionalism and friendliness. Your children will feel safe with the treatment (they use special vocabulary such as "tooth whistler" instead of "drill") but also they will be excited about the rewards program, where they are given points for their accomplishments, and then turn them in for gift cards. There isn't a thing they haven't thought of. I will be moving to Portland but will be coming back for treatment, as I am confident there is just nobody like them! read more

They are ten stars out of five. My child is autistic and has an extremely difficult time handling sensory overload, and she has been seeing Dr. Kapust for something like fourteen years now. He has been outstanding! I do not have one bad incident or moment of dissatisfaction to relate about him or his staff in the more than a decade he has treated my child. She loves going to his office, and they have a separate space that is quiet and can be curtained off so that she doesn't have to deal with too much stimulation from the environment. His staff are the best, hands down. They always treat my child with dignity and compassion, and I cannot express how much I love this office for giving her a safe place to receive care. LOVE Dr. Andy! My daughter has been so comfortable with this office. My only complaint would be that it would be better for our family if there were individual booths for the dentist chairs. Right now there are several in a big room. It's almost like a production line of dentistry. The dental hygienists are insanely great with my 2 almost 3 year old and we have a great visit each time. I'm only afraid for that one kid who freaks out and freaks my child out, but at this time she doesn't seem to mind it. I would still recommend it to all my friends and I do! Also, Heidi is AMAZING! We have been with Dr Kapust since 2001. We have two adult children and two youth. Our older kids had a great dentist in Snohomish County and doubted we'd find someone as worthy; however upon our former dentists recommendation we found Dr Kapust and his office. From the very beginning our kids have felt welcome and safe. We have been thru easy dental appointments and rather difficult circumstances with a child who has great fear. I have brought both of my girls to see Dr Andy since my youngest was 18 months old. I looked around a lot and finally gave him a try. The office was calm, fun and friendly and the staff are amazing. My girls LOVE going to the dentist. I love that he takes his time discussing oral care specific to my kids' teeth with me so I can reinforce good, proper habits at home (until they are ready to take over their oral care themselves). We live an hour south of his office, but he and the ladies are worth the drive. They have such a great community! I am not a lover of going to the dentist and I have been dreading taking my toddler for her first dental appointment. From making her appointment to the check out at the front desk was an awesome experience. The staff is all so friendly and helpful. My almost 6 year old daughter has been doing regular 6 month check ups with Dr. Andy's office since she was 2! Our most recent visit went great...again. Dr. Andy and his staff have been nothing but inviting, friendly and very in tune with their office practice. My daughter looks forward to seeing her dentist-they have a nice big fish tank, lots of books to read, big stuffed animals with teeth to practice brushing, and a prize station at the end of the visit. They help give children a sense of pride with their points program, too-my daughter knows to wear her shirt and bring her card to each visit! Dr. Kapust and his team are phenomenal! My son had much anxiety about dentists and having people messing around in his mouth. We were very fortunate to find Dr. Kapust and his incredible team. They make going to the dentist a fun and enjoyable experience. Even the "scary" stuff is approached in a way that makes my son comfortable. I really appreciate that Dr. Kapust is proactive and catches problems early so the treatment is much less invasive and easier on the child. Dr. Kapust and his team are great with every one of their patients! There has been many occasions that I've broken my braces with weeks until my next appointment, but they always find time to help. Today was one of those days and I feared it would have to wait until after my vacation (over a week) to be fixed and my teeth would move I the worst ways possible. When I called after hours and was transferred to the emergency doctors line I expected there to be no way to get in and be helped. Have taken 3 members of our family here for over 20 years. Extremely happy with the quality of care, the personalized service, and the teamwork of the staff to make every patient and parent feel important. Many of the staff has been there since we started, so the staff appears stable and happy, which indicates a good practice to work for and with. I would (and do!) recommend this practice to anyone looking for a quality, professional, friendly, and caring dental experience for their child. This dentist office is amazing all of the employees are amazing and it is very clean! I started going here when I was a young girl 30 years ago and have now brought my son back and it's still the same great customer service... We are new to the Tumwater area and with three kids, needed to find a new dentist. Well we found Dr. Kapust and his team. I called up one afternoon and spoke with a lovely lady who was helpful and knew what she was doing. We arrived for our appt and was even more impressed on how they treated my daughter.
