My best advice is to turn back now. You've already gone too far coming anywhere near this "business!" Vanquish yourselves from this Yelp page! Disappear! Really though, as long as you're here and reading, I'll just say frankly: I'm not sure how businesses like "Affordable Lawn Care" exist. If you're looking for values like reliability, professionalism, or trustworthiness from a lawn care provider, you won't find them here or anywhere around these guys. In fact, the "affordable" is even debatable. I wish I could say that Affordable Lawn Care's saving grace is their impeccable landscaping and yard work skills, but unfortunately the only experience I've had with their actual lawn care was an unsatisfactory and half-finished job, despite the five appointments we set and confirmed with their company's owner. We first received a flyer for Affordable Lawn Care by mail. Being that it was our first month in our new home, we were delighted to have a seemingly easy lawn care choice. My fiancé called them to set up an appointment for a cut, weed treatment, and leaf removal, and the owner of the company said he and his team would arrive either Tuesday or Wednesday. Perfect considering we had guests arriving on Friday and wanted to have our lawn in order before their arrival. Tuesday comes and goes, and we figure the crew must be coming out on Wednesday. By midday Wednesday, we hadn't heard from the company and decided to text them to see if they were still planning on coming. They said yes, but they were having mower issues and could still come out to our home, just later than expected. Later that evening, still no show. Eventually they text us to let us know that they couldn't fix the mower and were planning on sending a different crew the next day. Frustrating, but these things happen right? Thursday afternoon and still no word from A-Lawn Care, so again we text them to remind them that we and our yard, in fact, exist. The owner texted us back to let us know that they were coming out that afternoon. Around 6:15 in the evening, Affordable Lawn Care rolls up, does a quick survey of the yard, and tells us they don't have time to finish the entire yard, but they will pull all of the weeds and move all of the leaves to one corner of the yard so they can come out again on Friday morning to remove them. [I should take a moment to tell you that we paid $140 for the shuffling of leaves and weeds around our yard. The company wanted another $65 dollars for them having to come out the next day, which, needless to say, was the company's own fault for showing up after dark. Let me just say that again. They wanted to charge us more money for a job we already paid for because they showed up too late to complete it same-day.] Friday morning and afternoon roll right along and--you guessed it! All to be found in our yard were piles of leaves and weeds. Again we text, again the owner blows us off. Basically this cycle goes on and on. Fast forward to these faux-lawners never showing up, and leaving my fiancé to call their company and complain about the half-finished job. She tells them that rescheduling is pointless given that their track record with reliability is zero to none; instead, we want our money refunded since the job was never actually done. The company owner ends up yelling, threatening, and name-calling my fiancé. He goes so far as calling her a liar and threatening her with sexist, misogynistic statements, including "You don't want to yell at me, lady. I can get ugly." (Is this guy trying to prove to us how horrible he can be at this point? Because we were already #1 advocates of this and need no further convincing). Not only were we dissatisfied with the way this business is being handled, but the company's own workers showed up to our house complaining about their boss' time management and scheduling. When we did complain to the company's owner, he quickly avoided all responsibility and flipped the blame onto his crew. Aside from frequent conflicts with customers, this business also clearly has internal conflicts with its own team. And even if you look past these horrible experiences they've dished out, I think we can all agree that that kind of business does not make for one you want to be dealing with. The conclusion of this tragic story ends with a complaint to the Better Business Bureau, which neither my fiancé nor I have ever previously submitted. However, given the grotesque and truly alarming customer service experience provided to us by this company, and given that there have been several other complaints of this owner threatening women customers who are rightfully dissatisfied with an unfinished job, we felt that no one should ever have to deal with this company again. There are so many better options out there, the list is endless. And if you need recommendations for other lawn care services, I will personally provide them to you just to keep one more cent away from this disaster of a company. read more

I had a good experience with these guys. Got a mailbox flyer and called for tree removal services. Worth noting that this is something I wanted done, but didn't have to have done immediately. After initially agreeing on a price, the owner then texted me saying he needed $100 more. We bartered down to $50. The scheduled work time was delayed and rescheduled due to rain. They were also 2.5 hrs late on the day the work was actually completed. All of that said, they did a fantastic job. They accomplished exactly what I wanted, and it was done well and efficiently. The guys-coming-to-do-work-on-your-house industry is riddled with broken promises, unreliability, low to no accountability, and headache. It's generally unavoidable. So, for a project that isn't super time sensitive, I will confidently call this company back and expect the same great result. read more

BIGGEST. WASTE. OF. TIME. AND. MONEY. EVER. I can (and will) go on, but really that first line speaks for itself. To save myself the horror of revisiting the hell that this business put me through, I will copy and paste my complaint to the Better Business Bureau. For the record, I have NEVER complained to the BBB, and in fact have never asked for my money back from any business, no matter how dissatisfied I was. But A-Affordable Lawn and Tree doesn't deserve a cent from me or anyone else. Here's my BBB complaint: Affordable Lawn Service was supposed to come mow my lawn and offer a quote for fertilization on Tuesday, March 24th, as per our conversation held on the previous day Monday, March 23rd. They failed to come to my property and failed to notify me that they wouldn't be able to make it until after 6 pm (well after the time of service). Then, I was promised the would be out on Wednesday morning. I had guests coming in and wanted my lawn to be in good shape, so I agreed, even though they had already exhibited poor communication skills and bad customer service. I waited all day long on Wednesday, until finally Ray (an employee, not the man I spoke to) came to my house. It was already about 5:45, extremely late in the day, and I could tell he was exhausted. He alleged that his boss should have already come to my property to offer the quote, and seemed irritated when I told him no one had contacted me. He repeatedly used profanity in front of me and was openly disgruntled about his boss and company. Then he talked me into giving him an extra $100 for weed killer, which he said was top of the line and would kill 100% of my weeds, further stating that if there were any weeds left he would personally come out and remove them by hand for no additional charge. He removed some weeds by hand, but left them piled up on my back porch. He did not mow my back lawn, only my front (which is less than 30 sq ft), did not rake my flower beds (as promised), and did not remove the fallen leaves from my tree (as promised). He promised he would send a crew to come out tomorrow to finish the job. Not only did they fail once again to come and finish the job, when I texted the owner (he had provided me his cell phone number and I have the texts as evidence if so required) he said he had me down for a completely different day and agreed to compete the job for no additional charge. Of course no one came. The weeds remained piled up in my backyard, the leaves remained piled up in my front yard, there are still weeds in my back and front yard, AND no one has mowed my back lawn. This is a complete rip off and an example of a business with poor ethics. When I called to complain, the owner was EXTREMELY rude to me, told me that I "better be nice to him" (a threat), that I "got what I paid for" and then LITERALLY called me a liar. Paying $145 for 20% of a finished job is not getting what I paid for. This is an extreme abuse of power and I demand to have restitution made to me. I have never in my life been treated so poorly by any business, local or commercial. They do not deserve an A+ rating from a trusted source of information like the Better Business Bureau. It is no surprise to me that they have a 1 star rating on Yelp. read more

We scheduled an appt and they canceled because driver didn't show up. Next appointment they canceled because it migt rain. It didn't. Next appointment was for next week. They called and moved it to today instead at 8. It is 10 and no one showed or called. If they do show we are firing them. read more

****WARNING****STAY AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS**** The business owner, Armando, will overcharge and do a poor job. He promised a landscape design and didn't deliver. We asked him for the design plan and his excuse was that he had been busy taking care of some personal business. As a result, we were dissatisfied with the end result and product. This was our first experience hiring a landscape contractor and we missed all the red flags. We felt that since he was accredited by the Better Business Bureau, that he would provide a professional service. We were so wrong. It was a costly lesson. He left us with a broken sprinkler system and a mess in our front yard. The two workers he sent to do the job were incompetent. They kept breaking our sprinklers and even cut an underground utility line. Armando was present during some of these incidents. It amazes me how he can hold any kind of license as a landscaper. He did not return for any repairs and never returned our phone calls. There are other complaints for this business in the Better Business Bureau website. Horrible service, they did a crappy job mowing my front lawn, they left a lot of grass that was noticeably taller, probably missed by the lawn mower. They did a crappy job edging and wouldn't even edge a small area that had some dry sand. They came back like 2 or 3 days later to finish the job but i literally had to stand there and point out the obvious spots that they missed. Service stinks, people stink, the whole business stinks. I worked for months to find a company to build a retaining wall and, on the rare occasions that I actually received a quote, the cost estimates were ridiculous. I came across Armando's company and was surprised at how responsive and professional he was. He followed through with a prompt quote. He offered more service than I thought I needed at a price that was much less than the other quotes I had received. We have experienced a few landscape companies in San Antonio, and A-Affordable was the first one we were actually happy with. Showed up promptly after calling them. Armando was professional, gave us a bid on the spot. This was a Friday. They showed up Monday morning and completed the entire project that day. This was a significant amount of work - correcting a grading problem the other landscape company didn't even address (we had two lakes in the yard every time it rained). A-Affordable also brought in quite a bit of river rock and moved existing mulch. Everything looked perfect when they finished. One sprinkler zone did not work (the previous landscaper had placed a step on top of the valve cover). A-Affordable went to the shop for the valve part late Monday and replaced - as well as test the entire system. Everything was 100%. We plan to hang on to these guys. read more
