I had heard many great things about this company and it came highly recommended by personal friends and neighbors, but my experience with A-1 was very disappointing. The owner gave us a great sales pitch, we set a time frame for him to come and get the system installed and then nothing. He never contacted us again, stopped responding to calls and texts. We still really wanted the system so we contacted him again...gave him the benefit of the doubt maybe something happened. He apologized and said he would have the information sent to me the next day it's been about 3 weeks already since that call again he never contacted us again. Due to the lack of customer service alone I would not recommend this company. If they treat potential customers like this i'd hate to see the type of customer service they prove after they got your money. read more

I had Sal from A1 water come out to change my filters on my water softener, and just wanted to say thank you, he did a great job as always, he's very clean and efficient! Thank you Sal. Roger the owner installed a water filtration system soft water and drinking water in our previous home and service it for 18 years never had any issues at all, and he's done the same at the present home,once agian no issues. I was looking for a water softener service company because we bought a water softener for a remodel project and our contractor installed it but wasn't able to get it programmed and up and running. A-1 Water Quality was one of the only servicers in my area that said they would service a machine they did not sell me. Also, the girl on the phone seemed to ask a lot of good question. She assured me the tech who would come out to my house would be able to make sure my system was hooked up correctly, and could program the water softener and switch it over from Sodium to Potassium salt. A couple of weeks later the technician showed up- he was nice enough, but he was NOT able to program the water softener (or set it up, or insure it was plumbed in correctly)- He explained his boss, Roger or one of their plumbers, would have to come back, to work with programming the softener and determine if it was installed correctly. Then he informed me he DID NOT have enough potassium salt to switch the system over and that no one had told him I had wanted that. He said he could bring the potassium the next time he was in town, in another month. So I ran out to quickly buy a few bags of Potassium salt from Walmart, for him to use, meanwhile he took photos of my system and texted his boss back and forth. But once I returned with the potassium, he told me he could not take the sodium salt that was already in the brine tank, out. I would have to do that and dispose of it myself before he could switch to the new potassium salt. He was willing to help me take the salt out of my car and into my garage, so that was nice. But ultimately he was unable to do anything else, except to charge me $95.00 for the "service call". BTW: His boss and I talked, and Roger promised to credit the $95.00 towards the "next visit" which he promised he would do, and would call me the next day to set it up. Well it's been month, I've texted him, but he has not called or returned my text. So that's the story. I understand he may be a better salesman, but not so good on the service side. that he read more

I am very disappointed with Roger (Owner) of A-1 Water. Over a month ago Roger approached me at my home and wanted to promote his business and hand out flyers. I inquired about water conditioning systems and we had a short talk. During this time, Roger never spoke about his product. To this day I can not tell you about the product that Roger uses or any type of warranty it may include. He seemed to only want to talk about how bad, expensive, or under qualified everyone else offering similar installations and product were. I was not a fan of this tact, but his price point was much better than everyone else's and I would have rather given my money to a local business. This is why I tried to give him my support. It has been over a month now with many failed promises to contact me with a quote or reply back to any of my messages or phone calls to his local store. Reading comments from others and word of mouth, I have found out that I am not the only person he has done this to. Let's say you do get an installation done by Roger, what happens if you need a repair? I couldn't get the guy to take $4K from me, how would anyone expect him to take care of any warranty work? If Rogers plumbing is anything like his business practices, I feel for the homes that he has worked on. Let that be a warning. In the end, I decided to go with a nationally recognized company that offers a lifetime warranty for all of their product. Yes they were much more expensive but What is a few more bucks to help protect your home. Water conditioning is an investment for your home and Roger does not seem like the type of person who would want to protect that. I've been buying my bottled drinking water here for year's now. There's 6-8 station's inside & are kept VERY clean. I try not to use the outside machine's because theve not worked enough time's that i'd rather not take the chance. I contacted A-1 Water to fix a Sears 300 Series water softener. I reported that the tank was filling up with water. About a week later Roger came out to fix the problem. He said he knew what the problem was right away. He installed a part and I paid the bill of about $133. The next day the tank was again filled with water. Coincidentally, Roger called to see if the problem was corrected. I said it was not and that I could hear dripping going into the tank. He seemed upset that I did not mention dripping water before. (All I said earlier is that the tank was filling up with water. Wasn't his job to find the source??) Well it took repeated phone calls to Margie the receptionist and Roger before he came out again three weeks later. (Roger during his first visit had boasted that he had worked on 500 tanks like this and knew how they worked and how to fix them.) Roger was irate when he arrived, then replaced an o ring on the top of the tank. After this didn't seem to work he went on a tirade about these cheap Chinese Kenmore tanks and that it could be anything, and he didn't want to work on it any more. Highly Disappointed. I have been a customer there for sometime & used the same payment method every time. However today I went to fill my container of water but was denied because I had could not charge less than $5.00 onto my card. When I informed the cashier that I've been paying the same way for several (Reminded her she's processed my payments in the past) her response,"Wasn't suppose to." This WAS a great business when Roger was involved. the customer service is AWFUL! Nobody in the Los Banos facility knows know anything, or they just play dumb. When I go in to buy filters, I bring the model # and Part #. The response I get is, " Oh, We don't go by model or part numbers" WHAT??? HOW THE HELL DO YOU RESTOCK YOUR SHELVES? Good customer service should always be able to cross reference your part number for the GPD filter. I've been a Rayne customer since Roger opened this place, paid BIG dollars for the complete system. Do you think they have a customer filer on me someplace? NO!! I am SOOO happy I have pulled all of my Reverse Osmosis crap from under my sink and replaced it with a much better system, with filters that are REASONABLY priced. PLEASE shop around first!! read more
