My Janome 6700P broke and I waited for a part from a distributor for a while so I was missing my sewing machine. After finally receiving the part, the place that I brought it to be repaired could not repair it, so I brought it to A1 Vacuum in Orem. Joel took a look at it and fixed it in five minutes and did NOT charge me anything. Needless to say that I was so happy. After being an Oreck Vacuum owner for 20 years, I just discovered A1 Vacuum when I was told how expensive my current vacuum would be to fix at the 360 vacuum store where I had been a long time customer. Joel and his technicians fixed it with less than half the quoted cost of the other store. Last month the Oreck totally failed so I bought a really efficient vacuum from the A1 vacuum business. Sent my wife in to get our Dyson looked at - he wasted an hour of her day trying to sell her a new vacuum telling her it would cost $300 to fix the Dyson anyway. I fixed it myself by replacing the $15 filters. Would not recommend. read more

Every time we have used A-1 vacuum whether it was purchasing a new vacuum or bags for it or bringing my sewing machine in they are so friendly and helpful. We've loved the dad and now his son is helping. We have bought quite a few vacuums from them over the almost 50 yrs of our marriage and taken my sewing machines in several times. Great customer service and very knowledgeable with the issues that was having with its my vacuum

My vacuum makes a crazy loud noise when turned on after I accidentally sucked up part of a back pack strap-my bad! My husband went here to see if it could be fixed. The employee there was super helpful. After initially checking it he said he could fix it there and then with one cheap part. He was shooting the breeze with my husband while simultaneously fixing our vacuum. My husband left feeling like it was the best repair stop in his life! I took my sewing machine in for cleaning and service approx January 2022. Within 2 weeks it started knocking. I have always oiled my sewing machines myself and decided to try this one. It is so full of lint that they obviously didn't clean it. That probably means they didn't oil it either. I will not be going back. read more

My family has been coming here for years, and we've purchased all of our vacuums here. This is a funny little shop, and the people who work there take vacuums VERY seriously... If you try to buy the wrong bag or part they will be almost offended, and shame you for not knowing your vacuum better. Sort of vacuum-nazis. However, at the end of the day, the entire staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. They are a little hyper-active, but we have three vacuums that's they've kept running for nearly 20 years. Last time I was in I worked with Karen, and she gave me a $30 discount on a part for no reason other than being polite. They may be vacuum nazis, but at least they're passionate about what they do. read more

They had the part I needed, but the lady got downright unfriendly when I declined to give her my phone number at checkout. So either prepare to surrender your phone number for their database, prepare for a freezing cold shoulder, or have a fake phone number ready when you're checking out. Either that or find a different place to get your sewing machine parts. read more

I love my Simplicity vacuum. I bought my first one 20 years ago from Karen Shurtleff. I just got the new and best Simplicity they have and I love that one too. I can vacuum my carpet and hardwood floor and not have any dirt left behind. I still have the old vacuum and I use it in my basement. The service here is great. read more

I stopped in to drop off a floor steamer for repair, it's still under warranty and the manufacturer advised me to take it here. I'm glad they did! Karen was so friendly and very helpful, within a few minutes of chatting she picked up on my interest in chemical-free cleaning. They have some great "less-toxic" cleaning products, not to mention so many many different vacuums, vacuum bags, sewing machines, etc. She quickly demo'ed one of their vacuums as we were chatting about chemical free carpet cleaning to show me the power it has and how it would lower the need of carpet shampooing. She also mentioned that they do free repair estimates. So nice to know there's a repair/supply shop for vacuums and sewing machines, I'd much rather repair things than add to the landfill and I'd much rather give my business to a local store than to walmart. read more

Service with a scowl. I've been in three times ( out of necessity - why else, a broken vacuum ) and each time have been treated poorly. Sent my son in twice and he was belittled for "horrible hand writing " whilst filling out the customer form. Who does that? Business owners listen up: reviews can kill your business! Took my vacuum in because it had lost suction. They told me they would call if repairs cost more than $90. They didn't. When I went to pick it up, they discounted my fee so I paid $86. Not good enough in my opinion. I never would have authorized repairs of that amount as my vacuum is fairly old and not high end. To make matters worse, the "repair" they did involved replacing the beater bar with a bar that doesn't quite fit my machine. My vacuum now shreds belts and I have had to replace the belt 3 times in 6 six weeks. Both times I took it in, they replaced the belt, told me it was my fault and the fault of the beater bar manufacturer and didn't look at anything else on the vacuum. I'm so frustrated because they won't admit they made a mistake by doing an expensive repair I didn't authorize and they won't admit that they caused a problem with the belt and beater bar. I will never give them my business again. read more
