The ONLY place I go for tattoos and piercings. A1 has extremely talented artists who work with you to make sure that your tattoo comes out with exactly how you want it. Cracker did 3 of mine and he is so talented at what he does, my arm piece came out even better than I hoped. Almost one year later and my tattoo is as vivid as the day I had it done. I suffer from chronic migraines that were completely debilitating, I was having migraines almost daily for several months. I read about the diath piercing and how it's supposed to help with migraines and decided to give it a shot. Crystal did my piercing and I have not had anything worse than a few moderate headaches since. I can't guarantee that this piercing will work for everyone but it was a total game changer for me. I would recommend A1 to anyone wether you want a piercing or a tattoo, they're the place to go. You truly get what you pay for at A1, go check them out!!! read more

I have been getting tattooed here for the past 16 years. I refuse to go anywhere else. I always get compliments on my ink. I enjoy hanging out at the shop even if I'm not getting any work done. The artists are great and pretty funny in my opinion. They don't beat you over the head price wise, not to mention, the owner is an actual tattoo artist not some wanna be that owns a shop and does not ink. Take my advice, if you want a solid tattoo for a great price and want to have a few laughs in the process go to A-1. P.s. Don't listen to that review from over four years ago. A1 Tattoo has been nothing but positive experiences for me. I've gotten all of my tattoos done here by artist, Molly Gotlib and she is nothing short of amazing. You can tell by the way she approaches appointments that she is understanding and very passionate about her craft. She'll work with you to create the piece that you want and she'll make you laugh during the entirety of it. I personally wouldn't be tattooed by anyone else. As for A1 Tattoo itself, the place is brand new, clean and interesting--and it now doubles as a barbershop. read more

Great shop and atmosphere- Don't let the location fool you, although A-1 is nestled back on Route 47 in a town most people probably never even heard of, this shop churns out top quality tattoos and tattoo artists. The work of the artists as well as the artists who come to do guest spots here speak to the integrity and quality of the shop. After all, do you think a raved about, up and coming artist who works at a world renowned shop in NYC travels down to middle-of-nowhere Southern New Jersey to tattoo and hang out at just any random tattoo shop? How about a Tebori artist all the way from Osaka, Japan? Also, gross or dirty definitely aren't adjectives I would use to describe A-1. The work areas exceed any cleanliness standard I have for a tattoo shop- each artist's room is complete with a clean, uncluttered table top and stainless steel sink. Each and every time I have been there to get tattooed, which is well over ten times, the artist cleaned the surface I sat/laid on both before and after the session and wore sterile gloves, changing them during any and all breaks we took throughout the session. "The toilet bowl looked like my old house. And I shared that with 5 GUYS"-the implications of such a comment both comedic and idiotic, I'm not sure why someone would write this because: 1) if the private bathroom within your house isn't cleaner than, but instead reminiscent of, any business or public restroom, even a rather "clean" one, that speaks volume about your own cleanliness and sounds like a personal issue; and 2) If you failed to keep your own bathroom clean, one which was shared with the same 5 people whom you could hold responsible, one that is actually in the place you lay your head at night, isn't it pretty audacious to expect a shop to do so considering they not only have up to 5 guy employees, but also numerous customers and whoever is accompanying them, as well as the many friends and patrons who frequently stop in just to say hi and see what's going on? As far as I'm concerned, by divulging your own failure and lack of cleanliness you have essentially stripped yourself of any and all authority to speak on such matters. I'm not saying their bathroom is in fact dirty, rather that even if it were, you have no right to judge or criticize them. I'm not going to counter that by saying "it's the cleanest bathroom ever", I'll keep it real, but honestly, although the bathroom never struck me as particularly clean, it never struck me as particularly dirty either, rather what one would expect to encounter when using a courtesy bathroom frequented by so many random people. Exercise some rational thought here, especially if you've only been somewhere once and or have always had positive experiences somewhere and then had a single experience with some unpleasant aspects-firstly, all businesses have off days where something happens, or doesn't happen, that is atypical of the business and more importantly, in regards to this subject, realize that any one person could mess up a single-toilet-bathroom for the next person and since they don't have a full time janitor or bathroom attendant I'm not sure what one could expect or take away from a single visit. I have been there numerous times at closing and seen the apprentices clean the bathroom, restock paper towels, soap, etcetera and that's doing their due diligence as far as I'm concerned. Yelp seems to be living up to their reputation on this one (but please feel free to prove me wrong Yelp) 1 bad review and 6 shining reviews yet "somehow"only the 1 negative review is present on the main page, only 1 review can be seen from a cell phone's map application and only 1 review is being used to calculate an average score (which actually isn't much of an average since it's a sole review being taken into consideration). read more

I went to a-1 for my first tattoo and i had no idea what to expect. one of my friends from NJ told me to come down. I got a banging one done. bright colors, super clean lines and a reasonable price. I've been to a few other shops closer to my house just to try other places but now i make the trip to a-1 every time. other acclaimed shops didn't give "bad" tattoos but they weren't as good. the guys at a-1 are very personable and make it easy to get tattooed and make you feel very comfortable. anytime someone from my town wants a tattoo i tell them to make the trip over the bridge to a-1. read more

After not being happy with my first tattoo I started looking around when I came across A1 tattoos Justin Dunwoody. I went into the shop to set up an appointment and all of the guys were very nice and helpful not to mention professional. I went in for my appointment and I couldn't have been happier with the traditional piece that I got. He will definitely be the one doing the rest of my Tattoos. Aside from the work being amazing he kept everything clean. I read the first review and I couldn't help but laugh. Not only is there a clean bathroom with a sink and a huge thing of hand soap but there are sinks and handsoap in every room in that shop. They have also remodeled the shop so it has brand new floors and a brand new paint job. Makes me question if they were even in the same shop as I was. read more
