I spontaneously went to Hydravolve Studios because I was nearby, it had good reviews online and I wanted to check out styles, prices, etc. I met with Shannon who was just finishing up with a client & happened to be available the remainder of that evening. She went over everything with me and showed me the earrings. It was way too plain for me and the only downfall - they don't have a good variety to choose from in stock. If you wan't rhinestones/more bling or a specific style, etc., you'll need to order it with her, wait for it to come in and then go back to get your piercing. With the fact that I have been contemplating getting this piercing done for a long time, I knew I was ready to get it done right then and there..but also wanted something with bling. Lucky for me, Shannon was able to find an earring with a "little" bling and told me it was available since the person who ordered it, after a month or so, never came back. I decided to go for it and so glad I did. I did tell Shannon to not show me the needle she was going to use or anything because I'd probably run out of the room lol Shannon was very informative; told me everything she was doing, step by step. She was very clean, very nice and super gentle. It happened so quickly with one deep breath. After she was done, she went over in detail on clean/care instructions. Impeccably clean, warm and inviting and with an air of sophistication that belies its humble South Jersey location, VA is one part tattoo studio and one part art museum. No flash, piercings or body mod here; VA is all about the ink and taking it to a whole new level. Owner MJ Bonanno, Dan Fisher and Kristy Ruggiero are three of the most talented tattooers in the area. MJ recently re-did my first tattoo and the end result was twice as good as the original (which I had done elsewhere, back when I didn't know any better!) This is MJ's second studio and he's clearly learned a thing or two about what a studio can -- and should -- be. I worked with Emil Dz who quickly drew up my tattoo and did the entire thing in 15/20 minutes. He gave me great advice on placement and was gentle the entire time.
